i need a bit of advice on making sigs, do alot of people take small images from other places and use them in sig making? what is thought of this.... are there any unwritten rules in sig making?

I use it to make Pixel Sigs (Only MS Paint) and I don't do any other kinda sigs. So ya! :)

with pixel sigs id say start with paint unless you feel the need to download a better program, just remember you won't get better suddenly by using an advanced program. Pixel sigs are usually done manually without extra things added but I suppose you can mix medias, an abstract background with a pixel character in the foreground for example.

use a program like adobe photoshop or paint shop pro to make other sigs (non pixel), where most people add pictures they find from the internet called 'renders'. But renders are sinned here on tip.it cus its seen as not your work, best working on backgrounds.

I mostly use mspaint for my isometric pixels, although I prefer GraphicsGale for the finishing touches since it has layers and a better palette than Paint.

I use paint. Woo.

I agree with J272  I made my current sig in paint *not the animation of course*

And no lol why do you always want to get stuff from John Lewis. Its over ̣̉300 more then than what i paid.

John Lewis is a great, great shop.

If I could do any Pixel Work I would do it in paint.

use graphis gale just google it and Dl it for free

Indeed. Although I did use MS Paint for my first few sigs.

Here are my various reasons for using GraphicsGale instead of crappy MS paint (is anything made my Microsoft good? Doubtful... :?)

-It has a larger memory of redos and undos, allowing for much more experementation with sigs. MS paint only has 5, compared to about 25 with GG.

-Instead of right clicking to get your second colour (default white, like on paint), right clicking on Graphicsgale is like the pick colour tool. Which I find a helluva lot more useful.

-It has a lot more saving options.

-It's palette is about a million times more user friendly then MS paints.

-It has layers (which I use to do watermarks).

-It has a lot more zoom options. You can zoom in to 4000% and zoom out to 10%.

i use paint but i'm no good at pixel

I just don't see the point of using a more advanced program to make a small forum picture, yeh maybe if you were designing a pixel based game or website graphics but cmn.. its a small 300x150 picture, that million more colours would be useless most of the time and larger memory isn't that necissery for making sigs, but yeh a watermarker would be sweet so could be a good idea to use when you despretely dont want anyone stealing your images.

vistame09copyhr8.png

never used paint and never will.

Read my post again, I didn't mention more colours anywhere. It's just a ton easier to change colours in GG.

lol, because it's a lot easier to use and lot less stress

If something takes me 4hours in paint to finish something I can propably do it in 2hr in GG

Well, i use paint, but because i don't have GG i sometimes use photoshop if i really need layers (but i don't use the other tools to shade and AA, stuff like that)

lol, other than the hair, nothing on that character looks like me :P

layers are useless in pixels

tho i tell you this, people make pixel art, programs do not.

I cannot agree more. I remember someone way back used to use gradients for shading on his sigs. They looked horrid.

I do however NOT believe in using a totally inferior product (MS Paint) when a much better program that was basically made for making sprites (pixels) is available for free (Graphicsgale).
