Skeptical
I like it: you get cash, combat xp, and Slayer XP, with options to make a lot of cash at higher lvls, and get herbs and alcable drops at lower lvls. krimi
Placing slayer on either side of the absolute is wrong. Saying slayer is the best way to train combat is wrong ; however, saying slayer flat out "sucks" for combat training is just as wrong. Like many people have said through various threads and debates, whether or not to train slayer is subjective, as playing runescape itself is. There is no point convincing the other side that slayer is somehow the "best" or worst."
squidsquash
When I was a member, I found slayer to be the best way to train combat. The mask speeds up your combat exp (+ 15% attack and strength I believe?) And as stated above, at high levels you gain access to monsters that will make you millions. But it all comes down to whether the player likes the skill or not. There is no right or wrong answer to this question.
lagatag
I like SlayerSome tasks are real good for cash, like Abby Demons, Spiritual Mages, and dragon tasks (chance of visage)Some tasks are fast xp like Dags, KalphitesMost tasks give decent charms Overall everything averages out I guess, but getting a new task gives you a chance to do farm runs, and killing different monsters breaks up some monotony. Jjozzie
I enjoyed getting 99 Slayer, but whoever keeps coming up with 40k/Slayer an hour is way off lmao..mostly around 10-15k usually..some cares can get 20k with the right tasks/cannon. 136 Combat :: Jjozzie :: 2000 Total99 Slayer - 99 Summoning - 92 Herblore - 82 Prayer64m Attack - 25m Strength - 17m Defence - 20m Range - 44m Hp - 20m Magic :: Bandos ::*Solo* - 3 Hilts - 2 Chestplates - 2 Tassets - 1 Boots - 6 Shards*Duo - 8 Hilts - 6 Chestplates - 6 Tassets - 4 Boots - 14 Shards
foodmanfood1
Well, technically speaking, Slayer is only useful for unlocking new enemies and the occasional piece of equipment. But I personally find it crucial to my day to day Runescape existance because it makes training combat less boring when I have to travel to some out of the way place and kill some out of the way monster. And, sometimes the money is good, its not amazing, but its tolerable, at least for me. So basically, the skill itself is too useful, but when used for other means, it is nice and fun. I don't like fun, it upsets me.-- Marilyn Manson
Rjk
Slayer is simply the best way to train. You can train multiple skills at once such as Hitpoints, Attack, Strength, Defence, Slayer, (Prayer if you bury the bones) and Summoning by collecting the charms. As well as training all these, Slayer is known to make a very good profit.
stonewall337
I know it isn't the most efficient, but: 1) I want the cape eventually 2) I find camping boring 3) Mix of tasks is nice 4) Total levels/xp 5) A mix of GP/Charms/Xp that I find more enjoyable then simply gaining each the fastest way individually. Obtaurian
If you plan on maxing total level, Slayer is the most efficient way to train combat. To put it bluntly, [bleep] off.
DemonicSushi
Slayer is the most Awesome, Beastly and definitely the most Useful skill in the whole game.
Kiriyama
Slayer is hardly the most useful. If anything, cooking is. Cooking provides us with some of the best foods to use at Bosses and during Slayer. Without cooking, everything gets harder. Past 90, Slayer is essentially useless, though fun to train. Giordano
I wouldn't "grind" to raise my combat exp anymore. Slayer is a funner way of doing that with a variety of different monsters to kill each time. "The cry of the poor is not always just, but if you never hear it you'll never know what justice is."
