Sorry for the long wait, I had an unexpected problem on the night of my posting this.

 

But it was a good wait as well, because 3 lists were posted in a very short amount of time. This is the official thing by the way.

 

 

 

I really struggled for writing the description/whatever for some albums, so some will be a lot better then others (I might try and fix a few later on). I will try not to include double albums from bands you expect, but for some bands, I have to include two or three of their albums. So here is my top 38 albums list, in no particular order.

 

 

 

Please bear with me, I hate writing.

1. Rage Against The Machine - Rage Against the Machine

 

 

Anyone that knows anything about me knows I love Rage Against The Machine, and this album being #1 should be no surprise. Self Titled is Rage's best album, easily. Filled with Tom Morello's catchy guitar riffs and Zack De La Rocha's sometimes rapped, sometimes screamed, and sometimes sung vocals, this album delivers for rap and metal fans alike. Even if you don't agree with all the bands political opinions you should still check this album out and give it a hard listen.

 

 

 

2. Sublime - 40 oz to Freedom

 

 

This is the album you want to listen to while just chilling. The very basic instruments and Bradleys cool vocals make this an awesome album just to lay back and listen to. Sublime is ska at its best and 4 Oz to Freedom is Sublime at its best.

 

 

 

3. Gojira - The Link

 

 

This album surprised me the most out of almost every album. This is possibly my favorite metal album. Its really hard for me to describe The Link, its a very unusual and interesting album. The best part is the drumming though.

 

 

 

4. Tool - Ænema

 

 

I had to have at least one Tool album here. Ænema is definitely their best, 46 and 2, Hooker With a Penis, Ænema, a bunch of great songs on this one album. Dont know what else to say, you have probably already heard Tool and made up your mind about them.

 

 

 

5. Amon Amarth - Twilight Of The Thunder God

 

 

This is probably only my favorite Amon Amarth album for the single fact that I have listened to it more then their other releases. It starts off with possibly their greatest song ever, Twilight Of The Thunder God and just keeps going with great Amon Amarth songs.

 

 

 

6. BTBAM - Colors

 

 

Possibly my favorite Progressive metal album. The variety on this album is great, it goes from soft to heavy and stays amazingly good. A progressive masterpiece. (Lots of people probably think this album is overrated, right?)

 

 

 

7. Modest Mouse - Good News for People Who Love Bad News

 

 

Modest Mouse is just about the only Indie band I listen to, and I love them. One time I listened to this album 3 times in a row, its great. It has probably their most popular song (Float On) but all the other songs are just as good or better. If you haven't heard the whole album and like Float On, you really need to listen to it.

 

 

 

8. Atheist - Piece Of Time

 

 

Atheists debut album is a death metal masterpiece. With all its progressive and jazz influences this is a classic.

 

 

 

9. Wu-Tang Clan - Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)

 

 

A bunch of samurai fanatics with amazing rapping talent. No doubt its Wu-Tangs best album. Plenty of film sampling and plenty of amazing rapping.

 

 

 

10. Cannabis Corpse - Tube of the Resinated

 

 

What? Cannabis Corpse but no Cannibal Corpse?

 

I actually like this parody band better then the real thing. The vocalists growls/screams are better and I just enjoy the instruments and lyrics more. If you like Cannibal Corpse or Death Metal at all I really recommend these guys. Great band, great album.

 

 

 

11. Cunninlynguists - Will Rap For Food

 

 

One of the best rap albums of the 21st century. The debut album by Cunninlynguists is definitely their best. It contains one of the best use of sampling ever in the song Lynguistics. With Kno's producing and Deacon the Villian's rapping this album is just amazing. A must have for anyone that likes rap.

 

 

 

12. The Fall of Troy - Doppelganger

 

 

It doesnt matter if you call The Fall of Troy, Mathcore, Screamo, Prog Rock, Post Hardcore, there is no denying they are the best at what they do.

 

 

 

13. GZA - Liquid Swords

 

 

One of the best hip hop albums of all time. This is really a masterpiece. Lots of Sampling of classic samurai movies (Why do all Wu-Tang members use tons of movie samplings?) and epic lyrics. You can listen to it today and it doesn't sound dated at all. Highly acclaimed, just an awesome album.

 

 

 

14. Gorod - Leading Visions - Neurotripsicks - Process of a New Decline

 

 

 

 

I had to include 3 albums in one, I just had to, this band is just that good.

 

How is this band hiding among all the other crappy Death Metal bands? Seriously this has to be one of the most hidden gems in all of metal. Their technical ability is absolutely amazing, but the most amazing thing is that there is no [bleep]ery. Seriously, if you like any thing to do with Death Metal these are three albums that are a necessity.

 

 

 

15. Flight Of The Conchords - HBO One Night Stand (Live)

 

 

If you don't know who Flight Of The Conchords are, you're really missing out. This hilarious comedy duo from New Zealand are absolutely brilliant. They mix hilarious lyrics with catchy songs. The songs on this album are great, but a lot of the time their conversations between the songs are funnier then the actual thing. So if you like acoustic guitars and comedy listen to the album. (I just realized this is not really an album, but I have all the audio tracks so [bleep] it, wrong image as well I think)

 

 

 

16. Inside Out - No Spiritual Surrender

 

 

The only hardcore band I like. Probably because its really the only hardcore band I have heard. Its only about 5 songs long and its their only release. If only they made another album.

 

 

 

17. KRS-One - Criminal Minded

 

 

Good, classic hip hop. It makes me sad when people I know don't even know who KRS is, especially if the person only likes rap. Or if they don't like him because its "Old." KRS is still as awesome today as he was back then. If you like rap and haven't listened to this album then you really need to.

 

 

 

18. Thronar - Unleash The Fire

Perhaps the weirdest Folk Metal band I have ever heard. Their style is unique and awesome. When you first hear them you will either love them or hate them. You really need to give them a listen if you like

 

 

 

19. Warship - Supply and Demand

 

 

Amazing unknown band. Well I dont really know another person who listens to them. It goes from soft singing to screaming in a good way and fits together perfectly. I dont really know what to call the genre, metalcore or post-hardcore maybe?

 

 

 

20. Saul Williams - Saul Williams

 

 

Alternative hip hop at its best. He blends rapping with spoken word seamlessly. His lyrics are good and the rest just follows.

 

 

 

21. Children Of Bodom - Are You Dead Yet?

 

 

One of the first metal bands I got into. I immediately fell in love with the song Are You Dead Yet? and for a long while it was my favorite song. Children of Bodom is awesome Melo-Death and this album kicks [wagon].

 

 

 

22. The Mars Volta - De-loused in the Comatorium

 

 

The best concept album I have ever heard. At first I hated this band because the vocals, but fast, very fast, they grew on me and now I love them. Seriously great music, I would love to hear another album like this from them.

 

 

 

23. Lamb Of God - Killadelphia

 

 

My favorite LoG album, because they are awesome live and it has all the best songs on it. One of the best metalcore band there is. (NWOAHM = [bleep]ing [developmentally delayed]ed.)

 

 

 

24. Modest Mouse - We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank

 

 

Again, another awesome Modest Mouse album. They cant go wrong with what they do. Almost as good as Good News For People Who Love Bad News.

 

 

 

25. Maximum The Hormone - BuiikiKaesu

 

 

This is one of the weirdest albums I know. The Japanese metal band Maximum The Hormone is absolutely crazy. It has screams, rapping, and soft singing, what the hell else do you need. I have no idea what the hell they're saying but that doesn't make it any less awesome. A few of the songs sound a lot like SOAD, but I think this band does it much better and their style differs a lot more.

 

 

 

26. Cynic - Focus

 

 

I dont really know what to say about this album. Its awesome jazz influenced progressive/death metal.

 

 

 

27. Damian Marley - Welcome To Jamrock

 

 

The best Reggae album I have ever heard. (Bob Marley fans dont flame me)

 

I like Damian's style and I just love this album.

 

 

 

28. Danger Doom - The Mouse and The Mask

 

 

One of my favorite MF DOOM albums, his compilation with Danger Mouse. Some people may think the constant ATHF clips are annoying or childish, but most of them are hilarious and awesome. DOOM's raps are genius as always and Danger Mouse does a great job at his part.

 

 

 

29. Lykathea Aflame - Elvenfris

 

 

When I first downloaded this album, I was told it would be folk metal. At first I was very disappointing. I almost didnt listen to it. But thanks god I did, and boy was I surprised. I dont really know how to describe this album other then epic and awesome.

 

 

 

30. Madvillian - Madvilliany

 

 

The most unheard of great album from the rap genre. (I am basing this off of people I know, it is probably well known in some areas/places and with certain groups of people)

 

MF DOOM is perhaps the greatest rapper of the modern age and with Madlib, he is at his best. The only reason to steer away from this album is if you hate music that is not radio friendly.

 

 

 

31. One Day As A Lion - One Day As A Lion

 

 

Zack De La Rocha and Tom Theodore. Drums, keyboard, and vocals. I probably only like this band because of the singer but oh well.

 

 

 

32. D.R.I. - Thrash Zone

 

 

I like this album more then the other DRI albums because I like the vocal change from very fast all the time to relatively slow. Probably my second favorite Thrash/Crossover album behind The Art Of Partying.

 

 

 

33. Martyr - Hopeless Hopes

 

 

Nothing I can really say about this album. Its flawless death metal. I loved it after hearing the first song, really amazing band.

 

 

 

34. Eric B & Rakim - Paid In Full

 

 

With Eric B's beats and Rakims effortless flow this is one of the great rap albums. With only like 5 songs this album is very short and yet still awesome. Just old school, classic rap.

 

 

 

35. Municipal Waste - The Art Of Partying

 

 

Municipal Waste is a party band. With their lighting fast guitar and just as fast lyrics this band is [bleep]ing awesome. The vocals are an acquired taste (I used to hate them) but once you start to enjoy them, you cant get enough. This album is awesome with songs like Headbanger Face Rip and Beer Pressure. When I want some thrash this is what I listen to.

 

 

 

36. Wintersun - Wintersun

 

 

I thoroughly enjoyed this album even though many, many people think it is bad, over hyped, overrated, and whatnot. It is a solid debut from the previous Ensiferum front man Jari. No idea what genre it is though. But if you like the more Folk Metal-esque screaming/growls and melo-death/epic/? instruments then you should really listen to this album.

 

 

 

37. Cypress Hill - Greatest Hits From The Bong

 

 

Since I don't really like all the songs on any one Cypress Hill album, I decided to go with their greatest hits. Filled with the best songs from all the other album this album is good for any rap lover.

 

 

 

38. Ensiferum - Victory Songs

 

 

This is really my favorite Ensiferum albums just for the fact I have listened to it more then all the others. This is their first album with Jari gone and still they come out with a solid release. The epic lyrics and instruments are all just classic folk metal, just a really nice album.

 

 

 

39. Boris - Heavy Rocks

I hated Madvillian the first time I listened to them, but after giving them and MF DOOM another chance they/he has became my favorite rapper.

& various other, our kungfu masters, good choice of albums although i've outgrown those metalbands they just sound that... generic to me nowadays.
