Estonian dude
The man who knew too little. God-[bleep]ing-damn Bill Murray. I laughed pretty much all the movie non-stop. I can't understand how this movie flopped at the box office. 1 So I've noticed this thread's regulars all follow similar trends. muggiwhplar
The new Jurassic Park movie was surprisingly good. 8/10, would see it again. Almost felt like a comedy movie, the humor was good

Arceus
I watched Twelve Monkeys, was really good! And reading IMDB's trivia page was a nice bonus - it paints the director as quite a character too. Apparently there is a TV show based on it now so I'm currently watching the one season that has been made, but that probably won't take me long to finish :-D. Major Dash
I just finished watching Chinatown. One of the best modern movies of the genre that I have seen. The ending is horribly depressing as always. “I had a feeling we weren’t coming back from this fight when it began.”“Do you have any regrets?”“I don’t. It seems surprising, I know, but I wouldn’t change a thing. This is how it was meant to be.”“Huh, you never really notice how lovely the day is until you realize you’ll never see it again.”“Mmmhmm.”
muggiwhplar
Hot Girls Wanted. A seriously eye-opening (and good!) documentary. Have happened myself on these girls. I watched that with my brother last night on Netflix. I liked it until the film started pushing an agenda and twisting the facts around, at which point I started losing interest in it. It bothered me how they implied that the girls were forced to do certain things, when in reality they volunteered for it :| There were still some notable amusing moments though such as:- the girl who somehow couldn't figure out why the Duke girl was getting more attention than her- that one girl's chump boyfriend (and the purity rings LOL)
michel555555
Chappie.... 2/10 just for great cgi work on the robots. First off, big thank you to whoever nearly gave me a heart attack and is about to get fired from the canadian film board for rating it as a 14a or 13+ for explicit language and violence... Thanks for missing the scene with the porno playing in the back ground and me praying to god my 13yr old niece who was watching it with me didn't notice. Secondly here's the trailer and spoilers ahead. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lyy7y0QOK-0 Show of hands who thought it was a mix of robocop and irobot with a robot police officer gaining intelligence, finding the meaning of life and his place in the world ect. It sounds like a good movie. [hide]To bad it's a gang banger flick where you need a street-english dictionary to understand half of it. Pretty much half the dialogue consists of swears and never gets into any deeper meaning then the gang tricking childlike chappie into joining the gang and robbing an armored truck with somehow obtained killer ninja skills. After killing several people he shows remorse for all of two seconds before he breaks his ban on guns, arms up with grenades and an assault rifle and proceeds to break every limb in the villains body, slowly, one by one, and leaving him a bloody pulp. finally at the end of the movie we learn the meaning of life... There is none since chappie discovers the secret to immortality then goes on the run from the police who want him destroyed for the homicidal killing machine that he is. [/hide] Waste of money. [spoiler=click you know you wanna]Me behave? Seriously? As a child I saw Tarzan almost naked, Cinderella arrived home from a party after midnight, Pinocchio told lies, Aladin was a thief, Batman drove over 200 miles an hour, Snow White lived in a house with seven men, Popeye smoked a pipe and had tattoos, Pac man ran around to digital music while eating pills that enhanced his performance, and Shaggy and Scooby were mystery solving hippies who always had the munchies. The fault is not mine! if you had this childhood and loved it put this in your signature!

Alg
Show of hands who thought it was a mix of robocop and irobot with a robot police officer gaining intelligence, finding the meaning of life and his place in the world ect. It sounds like a good movie.Yeah. It almost felt like it could have been two separate movies, and the second half was just plain underwhelming even before the ending. Prior to that: Jurassic World. I get that it's Hollywood and it's more than a little unreasonable to expect anything resembling accuracy from them, but it almost feels like it could have been a better movie if they had taken fewer liberties. I painted some stuff and put it on tumblr
Bellatrixae
Just watched The Martian in theaters the day before yesterday.. It was definitely a good movie. I also saw Black Mass last week; another great movie! Bellatrixae | The Newbie
muggiwhplar
Spectre. 8/10 Though after really thinking about the movie afterwards, it made me like it less in hindsight. It's one of those movies where you just have to shut your brain off to really enjoy it. The ending still bugged me though. Not really a fan of the direction they took with Daniel Craig's Bond

Estonian dude
Deadpool. Mother-effing-deadpool. I understood the R rating. And it was good. Better than hyped. Randox
A few days ago I watched all the Marvel movies I hadn't seen yet (not all on the same day), which I think was all of them in phase two except Iron Man 3. Still like Superhero movies, though the second Captain America to me really seemed like a plot where someone should have called Iron Man. I get that they don't normally work together, or even really get along, and I certainly liked that cast, but more than once I found myself wondering why no one had bothered to call Iron Man, because he would have been super useful to have along. I expect if I ever read any of the comics, I would probably be having that thought more often (generally, not about Iron Man specifically). Also, the Thor and Guardians of the Galaxy movies make way more sense after a friend explained that the 9 realms are dimensions, not planets. I also saw Deadpool. Was pretty good, though I seem to have enjoyed it a touch less than every other person I know. I mean, I did really like it, but it's not like watching the new Star Wars or the first Iron Man movie was for me or anything. Also, Deadpool is only rated 14+ in at least Alberta and Nova Scotia (Canadian Provinces), which I think is a more fair rating than 18+/R. I mean, R basically says that you think someone needs to be old enough to have graduated High School to handle it. There are movies out there that merit that, but when I think back to my younger days, I distinctly remember thinking those kinds of ratings were stupid, and watching R rated movies when I was 14-17 didn't melt my brain or turn me into a criminal. Estonian dude
There are actually no laws permitting or forbidding movies to any sort of audience, except pornography. As such, most movie chains have simply put their own recommended age limits to movies and they may or may not admit people to the movies without an ID. It all comes down to the employee at the theater. And the highest limit our cinemas have self imposed is forbidden under 16+, but it ain't really common or enforced. Even Deadpool was 14+. Randox
In Canada, I think the ratings are legally binding, but only on theatres and retailers. That is, theatres and retailers have to enforce the rating given by whatever province they reside in as given, but an individual who circumvents the restrictions has not broken any law. Anywho, I was interested to learn that each province runs it's own film classification board, and Quebec, being the special flower that they are, use a different rating system to every other province, because why not  Also, the province of Newfoundland and Labrador has no classification board at all, though it is customary for them to adopt the rating given by the board for the Maritimes (run by Nova Scotia, used also for New Brunswick and PEI). So far as I can tell, only Ontario and Manitoba went with 18A. Everyone else is 14A, and I think Quebec was 13+ (both roughly equivalent to PG-13).
