Well people have been studing people for a much longer time, and we don't know that much about how the human brain works, so that may not get you very far. Yeah, I suppose it's important what you'd be doing in those 10,000 hours. Reading textbooks on psychology? Discussing it with other professors? Observing human behavior on your own? Different methods would probably give you vastly different results for those 10,000 hours.

After all, what's really important is your enjoyment of those 10,000 hours otherwise you'll do something else. If I could master anything without the necessary work, then I'd choose statistics. As a sidenote, I had lunch with David Shanks when I was considering going to grad school at UCL :) (I didn't go there in the end). EDIT: Oh [cabbage], just read through the thread and I came across parkour. That reminds me. I think it'd be badass to get 10,000 hours of Tricking experience. Although I'd prefer drawing still. Getting good at tricking instantly would be much the same as if I asked for master soccer skills- I'd feel like I cheated and didn't deserve the grace, power and skill I had gaiend. Drawing mastery would make me feel less like that, since I wouldn't use it for fame or anything. Just did some calculations, I have about 3,400 hours of soccer/football practice. So that makes me a third of a master? Hoorah.
