The Age of Conan music wasn't that bad, but the music in MW2 is going to be off the hook because of the composer, Hans. Like totally off the hook intensifying composer. Like brilliance...

 

I don't really think any game has really hit that right sound to make music an entire different dimension or able to set the atmosphere. Like L4D does a good job at notifying you and setting the pace, but it doesn't separate the ambient and background audio as an entirely different part of the game play.

 

I could cheat and say that audiosurf has the best in-game sound. :P

Why is game music a big deal? I dont get it. I rather turn the music off and listen to my own stuff.

Sometimes producers don't place too much effort in the music department, but this topic is to place the ones that DO. L4Dead had nearly no music, and same can be said to many games, but games like metal gear, final fantasy, mario,zelda hell even kirby have good music, sometimes taking a gigantic part in the game. I personaly believe that Punch out theme is THE boxing theme.

I really agree. Some games need a music to set the scene, like a horror game, or a very fast paced action game.

Any games like, a shooter is really optional. Same with an MMO or a Platformer.

Most shooters just have the generic big orchestral scores. Some of the old games with 16 bit midi music was done well.

Rome Total War has great music and overall sound design.

I would say that, out of the games I have played enough to really know the music, LoZ: Windwaker has the best music.

FFVII hands down.

Not being a fangirl but seriously amazing stuff. Nobuo Uematsu really worked his magic on this one.

Only tracks on there that really bug the hell out of me is the Highwind music and Gold Saucer music.

The LoZ ocarina tunes are really catchy too hehe. I really love the ones from OoT.

Best Video game sound track? I'd still have to go with Chrono Trigger. When i'm not paying attention i'll still catch myself humming a song from it.

I know the singing mountain dungeon never made it into the game but it's still a track from the game so it counts. Plus it has Schala's theme which is my favorite video game song ever.

I can't believe that NO ONE has said Halo yet just amazed that no one has.

 

Better take first Halo the composer is just amazing at the themes etc for the games. :thumbsup:

MGS 1 is an amazing game, anything but overrated. Music ,to me at least, wasnt really it's strong point though.

 

Sort of linking the two, I learned the skateboarding song from MGS2 the other day on guitar, great fun to play.

Well, another weeks has passed so it's better to change topic.

 

This week topic is "best rpg".

 

For me is a hard choice between 3 games: Pokemon Gold, Chrono Trigger and FF6, and i guess who takes the crown is Chrono Trigger.

Multiple Endings, a greeat Story and awesome carachters it takes my prize as the best overall RPG of all time (multiplayer is still Pokemon Gold for me)
