December 13, 200916 yr I'm not here to answer, but rather ask. [hide] For those of you who don't know, ever since skillcapes were introduced to the game, many 'buyable' skills turned from profitable (some even very profitable like Herblore) to expensive (or very expensive- Herblore). Cooking was obviously one of those skills. Almost all raw foods immediately changed in price and Cooking was no longer profitable. Although not costing money either for a while. After a little while Cooking became a 'loss-of-money' skill. Only a very limited number of cooked foods still cost more than their raw counterpart. Anchovies, for example, which give low Cooking exp are not widely used to train the skill. Cooked anchovies are needed for Anchovy Pizza. For these reasons anchovies are in higher demand than supply..[/hide]
December 13, 200916 yr Raw shark - 1504Cooked Shark - 1507 Its a 3gp difference. Not that big of a deal. PKing uses a lot of sharks and some solo merch prolly dumped a few thousand. 99 Pics - Range, Defence, HP, Attack, Magic, Strength, Cooking
December 13, 200916 yr Author Raw shark - 1504Cooked Shark - 1507 Its a 3gp difference. Not that big of a deal. PKing uses a lot of sharks and some solo merch prolly dumped a few thousand. It was higher a few days ago. However, even if the price was equal, why? You'd expect one of the more popular ways of training Cooking to be expensive, especialy considering it also is one of the faster exp-rates too.
December 13, 200916 yr That's how it used to be back in Classic, all the time. [-- DYNAMIC SIGNATURES FOR RUNESCAPE 3 & OLDSCHOOL 2007 RUNESCAPE --]
December 13, 200916 yr Author That's how it used to be back in Classic, all the time. Because there was no reason for cooked sharks to be worth less than raw... Now there is, yet it's not like that.
December 13, 200916 yr it's probably cause the number of pvpers/pkers outnumber the skillers today. think about it. we have new prayers, godswords, summons... everything that pumps more pvpers into the game than skillers.
December 13, 200916 yr This is quite simple basically the price of sharks and raw sharks have certain demands, and as has allready been mentioned, pking would have increased the demand for cooked sharks substaintallly, whilst cooking raw sharks, has become more expensive with the cost of sharks gradually increasing over the years from there low of about 800ea. while the bots were at there peak. Also don't forget if you buy 100 sharks, and burn 10 (you can't get 100% sucess rate like other foods) the resale value of those sharks has dropped, I think this is a key factor to why raw sharks are falling behind cooked sharks, players are less willing to lose 1.5k ea. burnt shark, and coupled with increased demand factors of cooked sharks prices have gone up. And then again there are always merchants out there, all it takes are a couple of people to have the same idea of buying cooked sharks, or selling raw, and prices will jump/fall, and finally possibly with the recent increases in shark prices, the number coming into the market may have increased (i.e supply of raw sharks has increased).
December 13, 200916 yr Because sharks arent the best way to train cooking? monkfish or lobbies tend to be better.Plus all you need is an influx of fishers so raw shark supply > raw shark demand Operation Gold Sparkles :: Chompy Kills :: Full Profound :: Champions :: Barbarian Notes :: Champions Tackle Box :: MA RewardsDragonkin Journals :: Ports Stories :: Elder Chronicles :: Boss Slayer :: Penance King :: Kal'gerion Titles :: Gold Statue
December 13, 200916 yr In general its because of high level updates. Rs focuses on the high level updates and thus people will generally force their way to the high levels. Xp is more valuable than gp because of a variety of things. Mostly high level untradeable updates that confer powerful bonuses or have a sense of pride. Skills like herblore are like having a good strong weapon.
December 13, 200916 yr Its karma, it will change back soon my guess.. and cooking sharks is the best way for high levels.. and there are definitely more "skillers" then "pkers" (the most of them also skill anyways) ]

December 13, 200916 yr It's just going to shoot back up again with the increased demand from the lower price.
December 13, 200916 yr It must be because everyone who wanted 99 cooking must have it, by now. Oh, and also the high level updates.
December 13, 200916 yr Niiiice, when I got 99 Cooking I actually made a slight profit. Suggest a poll for Tip.it - Here!
December 13, 200916 yr Cooking xp = total xp = not worthless I dunno, I always felt that raising cooking so you have more total exp is a bit shameless.
December 13, 200916 yr Cooking xp = total xp = not worthless I dunno, I always felt that raising cooking so you have more total exp is a bit shameless. If being able to profit and gain xp at the same time is shameless, sure. Follow me on Twitter!FORGET NOT THE CHICKEN.I have no intrest in helping "keyers" farm xp.
December 13, 200916 yr It's hardly a permanent thing. Next update or two, cooked will go down and/or raw will go up, and it'll be back to normal. It's just an economic fluke. Read my blog | Follow me on Twitter | Track my XP
December 13, 200916 yr Not surprised. Many things have very high prices. It's from the huge influx of gp so prices of everything go up.
December 14, 200916 yr It must be because everyone who wanted 99 cooking must have it, by now. Oh, and also the high level updates. This is what I was thinking as I read this. However, wouldn't the high level updates force both prices down? (Living Rock Cavern fish are better than sharks... And most high level PKers are probably using those instead...)
