Iey seems to have already fallen through the portal...along with the Ivory mage. The phantom seems rather unaffected, but you feel it weakening its grasp over your mind.

The Head Lichten appears to have bashed his head on a cluster of sharp rocks, killing him instantly. You land nicely on your feet somewhere at the bottom of the mountain.

Well [bleep].... Grim attempts to do a ritual sacrificing all of the geomancy xp he gained to turn over the ground and crush all of the enemies submerged in water.

Despite all the stories of going through portals you've read, the portal journey seems quite boring. After a period of prolonged darkness, you suddenly have the sensation of weight again and you awaken on a field of blackened earth. The ivory mage seems to have done fine on the journey and is brushing off the soot and tar off his robes.

 

"Well, we're here now I guess. I suppose since we can't take care of the portal from the outside, we'll have to destroy it from the inside. All portals are powered on both sides by a discreet power source. I suspect the one in the cave was the sonium, the magical mineral/metal that was prevelant in the walls. Here in the underworld, it makes sense to me that the portal would be powered by that."

 

He sweeps his arm in the air and you look over, seeing a very large river bordered by fertile croplands, dotted with several small hamlets. Far in the distance, past more blackened earth, lay a massive volcano constantly erupting a very runny, fast lava.

 

"We better be moving quickly, and watch out for the lava."

 

The mage starts hobbling towards the river.

You have a feeling that removing the focusing implement would mean killing yourself by cutting your brain open. The room seems to hum in a strange energy.

You decide not to go ahead with the ritual, because all the enemies under the water have been killed.

The clown gets shot, and is not affected. Suddenly it turns into the most scary clown imaginable, making you cower in fear.

Grim attempts to summon an enormous coldfire hawk. He also checks if there are any life crystals underwater as well.

Haakon moves into the portal

I deafen myself, and create a massive burst of sound echoing out towards the wall, hopefully reacting with whatever Sonium does.

rgg. i try to disupt the flow of energy to the portal. my skeletons start smashing the walls.

It never fails, you guys start a session during the 30 minutes I have no internet.

 

Anyway, Kemios walks over to the random stranger.

You manage to summon an enormous coldfire hawk, which can be made permanent and more powerful with a large amount of life crystals. Underwater, you find a treasure trove of small life crystal shards, numbering in the hundreds.

Hakon jumps into the portal and sees what Iey sees (please skim that bitte).

You have become functionally deaf, meaning you take a penalty on certain rolls. You send the burst of sounds, but quickly realize that Sonium isn't necessarily an element of sound. You have also forgotten how to play sounds with your staff.

 

-Earth

 

The skeletons dislodge a small (soccer-ball sized) chunk of Sonium. It seems rather hard and strong.

 

-Kemios

 

"So what do you want, hmm?"

i tell them to throw the sonium at the creature, and then throw another chunk at the portal.
