Hmm.. I'm guessing colonizing the moon and near planets such as Mars isn't illegal.

I would guess it is(off-limits)...If its not then I would be rather annoyed because colonising the moon would have been much easier than economic war on the EU. <_<

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

Eh. I'll start as Australia. I'll do some research and such and then start in a few hours.

2Xeo5.png

What about having to research both bio-domes, advanced life-support and advanced competers as well as a means of transportation to colonise non-Earth areas, possibly terraforming for Mars?

In Swiss News: Ambrose Cabagius has been elected the new President of the Confederation. This is in accordance with Switzerland's normal system of government, however the change will probably be permenant, due to me not updating it.

King Archi remains King for the interim, though the arrangement has been extended until neutrality and security has been re-guarenteed. Archi has refused 'the ability to declare war' in front of the Council of States, instead saying that only the people can decide to start a war, he will only act in self defence, after an invasion has been started.

Mather, group moderation on the issue. I vote No Colonising more than half a mile above ground.

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

Norwegian news:

King Olav has sadly passed away due to a cardiac arrest last night, crownprice Håkon has risen to take his place as king of Scandinavia.

In other news:

Prime minister Jens Stoltenberg was brutually murdered, however the police does no attempt to find and punish the offender as they, to qoute them: "have better things to do".

The Norwegian police tells the Swiss Guard that it isn't neccessary, if anything the offender would be rewarded.

Australia's new leader has emerged from the shadows.

First order of business is making the land closer to the centre of the continent more usable, and to do so, canals and rivers will be created to move water closer to the centre. Rock filters and such will be used to make sure the water is suitable for growing crops with. The extra crops will also help global warming.

Second order of business is research on new body armour, utilising non-newtonian fluids bound together with a layer of kevlar. Also included in this body armour will be a helmet with GPS capability, a UI which displays terrain and enemy information, and a multitude of sensors to display vital signs and personal info and such, as well as a targeting system.

ETA is 4 years for the body armour, and 6 years for the helmet.

All citizens of age 16 or above have to go through a mandatory 1 year two-step training program, the first step is in the semi-arid lands which are around the centre of Australia, and then the second stage is in the rainforest-type areas. The lands have been specifically chosen to be as harsh as possible, to make sure everyone is ready for combat in such conditions.

A new set of guns will also be worked on, and cyberkinetic enhancements to an elite squad of troops. ETA is 8 years for both. Until then, Australia's troops are using the standard M16s.

(Gah, I thought this wasn't going to be another "Annex the hell out of everything you can until there's nothing left" start.)

Ross, Australians probably won't want national service forced on them...and it would cost a bomb....and be highly ineffective, since only a small number of them could ever be sent to war anyway.

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

Rocco, would you care to share the load with that soil treatment?

Also, in addition to the stuff in my last post, Australia is going to build large solar plants around the centre of the continent, and wind farms off the coast.

Archi, it's mostly to make sure that people are ready to defend, knowing some of the trigger happy people we have in this thread.

I can introduce it over a number of years, if need be, and I can activate a propoganda campaign to help the cause.

2Xeo5.png

Norway does manditory military practise, although at an age of 18(or was it 19?), I'm even looking forward to it. Anyways Ross should be able to do it, only at a later age than 16.

SIRO TEMP now also shares salt power with anyone willing to join in (it's basically Haven, Ross).

Seriously? Has anyone been to Australia...they are not exactly a warlike people... More likely to send Crocodile Dundee and the Ghost of Steve Irwin into a war than they are to do much else.

Ross, if you want to do it then I think it should be over a course of a few years(I am not the moderator...which I have to say in every post lest people think I was)

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

Yeah, that's fine.

A team of Australian scientists has been sent to wherever to work on salt power.

Would mean I can generate power through my canal systems as well.

The Christian-Democratic National Peasant's Party (It exists! Look it up...) has won the election in Romania.

Romania disbands its compulsory military service program, will be a volunteer only army.

Building massive additions to the University of Bucharest, as well as the central university library. Renowned architect Villard de Honnecourt has been brought in to ensure that the buildings retain their distinct architectural style through the additions.

Talks have been good with South Slavic countries, and seeing the recent economic trouble within the EU, the increasingly hostile military stance of Germany, and the recent clashes in Asia, they are becoming more and more warm to the idea of a Slavic Federation, that would be much more able to defend itself and prosper economically.

Building roads and improving highways, as well as building solar plants and windmills.

-Romania moves 1 slider over the Democratic, and 1 to Central Planning. Weee HoI.

Romania has also joined SIRO TEMP with the Scandinavians.

Thats why I forgive dusty so readily...He plays the game well.

Salt power is done, there's a plant only a few metric miles away (in Tofte), it alone generates 12TWh per year with no fuel (except freshwater and salt) and produces no waste.

Australian and Romanian scientists safely arrive at Svalbard and start chatting around (no active research at the moment) in SIRO TEMP hq, you now both have salt power and project Evergreen, use it wisely.

As no one has noticed the joke with SIRO TEMP, here it is; Svalbard is very cold and the temperature (temp) is mostly bellow zero (siro).

Salt power will be widely used in Australia's canal system, to filter out the salt and put it to good use.

Australian scientists will be working on a cocktail of painkillers and stimulants to be used in certain squads, injected via the aforementioned helmet, when they are needed.

Propoganda which subtly encourages atheism begins to trickle into the media, in hopes to eliminate most mainstream religion in 30 or so years.

2Xeo5.png

Ross, salt power uses one part fresh and two part sal[bleep]er and using membranes extracts energy from the combination into brine, however, it could be used in combination with electrolysis to create a self sufficient freshwater source and salt plant.

SIRO TEMP starts researching better membranes for salt power. Five years, one less per cooperating country except Scandinavia (three years with Romania and Australia)?

Huh. I just assumed it would filter out salt water and use that. Guess I'll use it in future instead then.

The original plan with rock filters is back in place.

Japan sends scientists to SIRO TEMP.

I know Indonesia doesn't belong to me, but it would be obvious why they attacked. Basically the part of Malaysia near Indonesia was going to be taken, but you said that Malaysia was being "peacefully annexed", so Indonesia wanted their land. Japan just helped make sure there wasn't any interference (with the navy).

Japan begins centralising the command of the navies of the allied nations into the Central Command Structure, which is composed of officers from all different countries (within the alliance). The goal is to provide protection to all allied states, and to make sure that the part of Malaysia stays within Indonesia, or at the very least does not go with India.

So I'm assuming that Indonesia is victorious? With the 50% defence modifier, the 80,000 force of Malaysia is defeated at the cost of 120,000 casualties by Indonesia. SAM artillery are being placed on all islands of the allied nations, to prevent air strikes (SAM artillery are highly effective at destroying aircraft). More air defences are being placed, especially on the Japanese homeland.

------------

Political integration continues with Papau New Guinea. The agreement at the current time seems to be that Japan constructs infrastructure in New Guinea, as long as they retain their traditional ways of life.

-------------

To Archi (almost missed that post), I'm not mobilising 52 million troops. That was just the figure for eligible soldiers. Anyways, Malaysia (according to me) was split into two, with the half near Indonesia leaning towards Indonesia. But Rocco signed a treaty with Malaysia anyways, so Indonesian troops are liberating the half near Indonesia. Japan sent naval troops to prevent any foreign power from interrupting the liberation, so that was the extent of that. If anyone is receiving economic sanctions, it would be Indonesia. Which would further encourage it to stay closer to Japan.

-------------

To Rocco, that piece of Malaysia was needed as a vital part of national security. So that's why Japan helped with it. Oh, I just realised that Singapore is next to your part of Malaysia...Singapore attacks Malaysia with 60,000 soldiers and Indonesia with reinforcements, about 40,000 soldiers. Singapore, being the most highly advanced country in South-East Asia, negates the amphibious penalty. Once again, navies block access and troops are held in reserve in case of any enemy movements.

Japan also gains salt power and project Evergreen.

How many of you want to increase the output per salt power plant by using better membranes? Current time until that happens if five years, only two if you all cooperate on the research.

I'll contribute. Japan sends some scientific equipment to the project. It begins the construction of several salt power plants, to be outfitted with the new membranes. What is Project Evergreen?

Oh yes, all nations closely affiliated with Japan (such as Indonesia, and newly conquered Malaysia) remove Radio Free Asia from broadcast towers located within those countries. All new radios distributed will have auto-ban capacities, and existing radios are being replaced with new radios for free.
