Ok so Im making it.. Rock, or Rap? Choose which is better, why is it better? Why do you like it, you have any history with it? Lets not make this a "Rock, because its hardcore!" or "Rap because its gangsta" topic either.. explain yourself, if you dare.. Also, no flame wars!!! runesmithie
Rock, it has more of an.... edge? to it, unlike Rap, which seems to be a little smoother (I'm a mustard man, no ketchup for me) ;) I just posted something! ^_^ to the terrorist...er... kirbybeam. Phil
Rock for sure. I used to like rap a few years back, but these past few years most of the rap that has been released has been heavily comercialised (for example 50 cent). I know some comercialised music is alright, but really I think that all the comercial stuff now sounds the same and is made for little kids to buy. It's not for me. Also I know some rock is comercial too, or is going that way, but I think that rock just sounds better. Indie rock to be specific

Peter
I don't like new rap, like the stuff you hear on the radio, but I like some underground stuff. It's like so much more in-depth with things other than killing thugs and being in the club and whatnot. Some of the beats are pretty much amazing and the rythms they come up with are good. Now I pretty much listen to rock (except for the said rap), and most of it is indy rock, which is pretty much every uncategorized rock style. I like old stuff and new stuff. Again, I don't really like mainstream stuff, not because it's mainstream, but most of it just doesn't appeal to me. Phil just posted his 3000th post on my topic! :D :D :D :D YAY for phil fo having no life!!! Actually, yay for Phil being active as a good mod. nik
Phil, my dear boy. I like the Drugs, hugs, and rock and roll. I just dont hear much rap, im ignorant to the real meaning behind it. I hear enough of it on the radio, I just guess I like rock more. I seem to really like upgoing beats, and fast pased music. Its just more of my style I guess. I like alot of old hip-hop and alot of breakdance music, but for most times, I just like rock. C'YEA H0'KAY
Lionheart_0
Rock becuase i listen to it for the music, not lyrics, and it seems that is all rap is about.. not to mention ive never seen a rap artist creat their own music, only lyrics. Necromagus
If I had to choose between the two, I'd definiately go with rock. The musicianship seems to be far superior, and the culture behind it seems to be quite a bit more intelligent than what I can see of rap culture. (And those interested in both polka and rock (well, metal to be precise, but that isn't mentioned in this post...) should listen to Finntroll ;) ) My Tip.It Times Articles (10 and counting) || The Varrock Library Author Index projectDo you dare to dream? - Part 19 added. || The Hospital (WIP) - New story!Necromagus looks like a viking ... with glasses. DragonFirenze
Definatly rock, ive done music for over 8 years and once you get down and listen to it, rock is far more musically sophisticated. Sure rap has a bass line and some good beats, but you cant compare such a homophonical track to one such as ACDC. Theres no choice for me, Rock is the way to go. Lvl 80 construction. How2PK
I'll go with rock, I can relate to it more, thus it gets me more emotionally involved, which is what I think is the point in the entire concept of listening to music. goku_nazz
Classic rock.. AC/DC, Aerosmith, Guns n Roses, KISS, Rolling Stones etc I'm not really into the new rock.. some of it is alright, but I can never get enough of the old school rock, even though Guns n Roses are relatively young compared to acadaca and Rolling Stones, they're music reminded me so much of the type of rock that was played in the 70's :D

Zertuo
Underground rap, None of that mainstream bull where those posing [wagon] wannabes bite their rhymes and talk about crap they have never been through.
Peace
Having listened to both rock and rap I can appreciate both genres, I currently prefer rap but I couldnt say which one is better, its two completely different genres. This is an argument that cannot be won, its peoples opinions. There are legendary rock artists and there are legendary hip hop artists, a lot of rock fans wont appreciate rap artists as legends though, which is a shame because, even if I don't like the music I can still show respect to the artist for what they have achieved etc. Dont know what else to put so I'll shut up now. Faux
I'm so disappointed by the maturity you guys have shown -_- I prefer rock than rap. I have a severe distaste for rap due to my brother's use of he words he gets from the genre. If rap wasn't all about bling bling, [garden tools], or killing people, maybe I have a chance of liking it. :: Guess the Movie Contest Champion: pfilc23 ::
cloudspirit
Rock! I dont see how people can even consider rap. Although some rock i dont really like, like screamo (just makes me tired or annoys me) but the other stuff is great. Right now ive been mainly listening to dashboard confessionals, Yellowcard and some of System of a Down new stuff. Which FF Character Are You? Herr
Some say rap has good lyrics, I say rock is just as capable of having good poetic lyrics but rap ISN'T capable of displaying good instrumental skill. Now there is SOME rap I like, albeit only a couple of songs - by Jurassic 5 and Goldie Lookin' Chain. I could never get bored of listening to a good piece of prog rock, there's always new things to spot and appreciate.
