What's with all the "BAWWW THEY CHANGED IT BECAUSE NOOBS COULDN'T HANDLE ALL THE 0 HITS :(((((((((((("? If you hit 0 that means the enemy managed to block your attack. If your attack connects you will always deal some damage (1-"your max hit")

Or did they change defence as well?

For those of you explaining that the 10x HP thing is useless --> Note: You can't add

Go kill something. When you hit 118, shave off the 8. When you hit 213, shave off the 3. Add all those shaved numbers after about an hour of combat. That's your increased efficiency due to this update.

Hey, lookey there. My 3rd grade skills just pwned all the complete idiots.

It added 1 damage in just 5 hits with the random numbers I just used one post above you. Can't imagine how much it would add after 1 hour of straight combat. Any idea how many hits you could get in that time? Kinda want to figure it out lol.

EDIT: I'm sorry it added 1 damage in 4 hits.

I'm pretty sure you can get a couple thousand hits in an hour with whip. Total guess on my part, though. But take your values and extrapolate it over the course of 99 str. It's pretty damn efficient.

Up to 1500 hits in an hour with a whip, up to 3000 with darts, and if you cannon in a really crowded area, you can get 6000 hits in an hour. Magic spells can be cast 1200 times an hour (I believe), leading to a maximum of 10800 hits in an hour assuming you're barraging 9 at a time. I can't find the chinchompa's speed, but I'd imagine it's about the same as magic.

@TUBA -- the game used to round down all the hits, so even if you "hit", you could have a hit between 0.1 and 0.9, which would be a 0 instead, so you'd hit a lot of 0s that weren't "misses".

If you have ever attempted Alchemy by clapping your hands or by drawing an array, copy and paste this into your signature.

Most RSOF ranters can't properly add. Or process logical thought.

Sucks to be them cause I just posted the whole post I had that added the numbers together in an attempt to shatter there hopes and dreams of finding a flaw in this update.

What people aren't realizing for the most part is that in the old system .5 and higher did not round up, it always rounded down. Tons of people have evidence of this already (Including myself, I can now range a 359 with my normal gear instead of 35.) Speaking just from a range standpoint since that I what I am doing atm, I fire a bolt about ever 2 seconds, throw on a .5 second to each shot to compensate for time between kills and picking up drops. At 2.5 seconds per shot, that is 1,440 shots per hour, now on average you will get .5 more of a hit than before, this means 1,440 * (.5) = 720 more damage per hour than before (this 720 is still using the old hits system), this means approximately 2,880 more xp per hour, which doesnt seem like much but seeing as range is only about 40k an hour anyways on slayer it is a good 7.2% more xp/hr. This isn't much but it is more than a marginal boost, I will definitly take a 7.2% increase in my range training. However with melee the difference is more marginal, people get up around 80k an hour now because of alternate training, meaning this is only a 3.6% boost, but abyssal whip is faster than a rune cbow so it is probably around a 5% boost, still not too bad.

However, the huge implications of this come in with using super fast weapons, or weapons which hit multiple targets (eg. Ice burst, Chins, ect.) A burst is about the same speed as the rune cbow, so we are still working with 1,440 bursts an hour, but now we tag on that most people bursting are doing something such as rock lobsters, so they are hitting 7+ targets at a time for the majority of the time. This means we now get 5,040 more damage per hour than previously, or 10k more magic xp, plus 7k more hp xp. This is really starting to look better. Although it is still only a small difference, it is saving you time and money in the long run.

Personally I am a big fan of this update, sure it will take time to get used to, but so does Jagex changing the interfaces every few months too. Also this opens up the door for new armour, weapons, ect., all based on your Constitution level, and taking damage now does not affect your level so the seperation allows for more flexibility.

Ok, it lets you train faster.

But they should still make it so you can have the old hits show up and the hidden part is just added to your xp invisibly or whatever.

Ofc, they could have done this with the old system too....

Same for the hp boosting gear

tbh it's disturbing when i hit 462-478 :-? It makes me feel like i'm using melee. But i guess i'll have to get used to it :(

arcane_stew.png

Hypocrite. You tell others to be nice then attempt to murder people. Nice going, you just failed life.

I think lessening 0-hits for newbs defeats an incentive to train attack. "Hey, I am not hitting this, I must practice the accuracy skill" indeed.

....? And this leads to what...? ...? Seriously, what? You're affected by the choices of the idiotic masses somehow?

edit: Read your post wrong. I sounded like a total jack [wagon] right there, lol. Sorry.

I'll say it again, no, zeros didn't always mean that you missed. Sometimes your hit would fall between 0 and 1, and thus round down to zero. Thus why sometimes magic hit zero when it didn't splash, and why sometimes I would weaken tormented demons when my darklight hit a zero.

In the case of noobs, whose max hit is a 1 (or more accurately a 1.4), a LOT of their hits would fall between 0 and 1, which means about a 64% chance of hitting zero on a HIT, and that's not even including the MISSES.

Obviously for higher level players whose range of damage is higher, it won't decrease your zeroes by a whole lot, because the majority of the zeroes will come from simply missing. But rounded zeroes DID still happen, of course, since I still hit the occasional 1-9 hit even with the new system.

Ok thanks.

For some silly reason I thought it would always round to 1 if approaching zero.

...

Really, don't fix whats not broken (Jagex is really bad at this is anyone's noticed), nothing good came out of this update and the only thing it does is negatively impact combat into a complicated laggy mess.

...

I must admit I am coming to appreciate the Lobby update. You can stay in a clan chat while hopping worlds. You can even chat without being in any specific world.

I can take or leave the rest of it.

PvP is not for me

Okay, after reading the update it seems that all damage the player takes, as well as the amount they heal, etc. etc. is multiplied by 10. Sounds pretty good, but that still means that a godsword hitting in the 70's or 80's (Im probably off on the max hits here, but it's just an example) will still hit extremely high, and probably quicker than you can eat. Which is what people are kinda trying to argue about, they just can't put it into words.

Still, the new constitution allows for a wide area of expansion in the future, so we could see new armour and weapons with better bonuses and higher "damage" capability in the future (of course, the new Life point system only multiplies values, so you are essentially nerfing all the current weapons and armour if you were to add some new equipment, which would suck). Eh, Jagex will find a way I guess :P.

I personally think that changing Hitpoints to Constitution was stupid, but I can live with the new numbers. The name change itself was uncalled for.

Wow, this just blows my mind. I never would have thought about this. Even more updates adding to the fact that game I once played is long gone. :) Hope you guys enjoy the faster experience gathering.

A reflection is just a distorted reality held by glass and your mind.

Well they had to change the name for the simple reason it would be confusing if they didn't. For example if they left the skill "hitpoints" the same name, you would have 99 hitpoints, but 990 lifepoints. So if someone asked what your healthpoints were do they mean your hitpoints, or your lifepoints? Hitpoints, healthpoints, and lifepoints are all general terms that basically mean the same thing. So to keep them from being confused on which was which, they just renamed it.

It sounds a little silly being called constitution, but much easier to clarify what is what. You can still call lifepoints, healthpoints, or hitpoints, because like was stated before, they all really mean the same thing.

The xp rates are the same......

Ye, that is how SGS sometimes managed to heal the min even if you hit a 0, and why ice spells still froze sometimes, when hitting a 0.

You will still hit 0s every now and then. Right now I'm grinding at Armoured Zombies and the XP Rates are still the same as they were before the update.

If this is the path for new weapons, armors, etc, am I supposed to say goodbye to my Abyssal Whip and Dragon Scimitar?

If I remember right they said in one of the QA's that some of the new armour and wepons would be like Kuradels ring. Therefor only working in certain areas.

"Hp" isn't going to go away for years, habits don't change in a day. No one says ddp++ even though it hasn't been dds for ages it seems

Worst update in the history of rs. Even worse than December 2007.

Why?

because the idea is completely unoriginal and completely uncalled for. I don't see a legitimate reason of why they had to change Hitpoints. it was fine, nobody had problems with it, and everything was fine and dandy. I don't see how this sudden dramatic change is going to benefit anything. I think Jagex is only getting pressured into changing Runescape so that it could fit the criteria of other modern MMPORPGs and their first step happened to add a 0 into every [cabbage] we hit on. WOW JAGEX THAT WAS SO FREAKIN' BRILLIANT! WE SO NEEDED THIS UPDATE!!!

I played Runescape because it was Runescape. Now it just feels like any other RPGs where everything is in 3-4 digits. I can't ever believe that they would implement such a disappointing update. I'm just about ready to stop spending even one cent in this cruddy peice of [cabbage] company called Jagex. Good bye and I hope you have fun with your new generation of pre adolescent players.

This isn't youscape this is runescape... they are not making the game for you... they are making it to become more popular to get more money. They are a company, it is there job to maximize profit and if it shows that higher hits attracts more plays then they will do it. I find it hard to believe you have not noticed this trend with all gaming outlets. Gaming company's care less about the actual true gamers and more about the general gamer. There is little to no money making your game to a specific type of gamer. Everything is becoming generic and money related since the generic gamer these days are spoiled kids who don't like a challenge and want rewards handed out to them for doing nothing. this can be seen threw achievements gotten by completing a level in a game or by just buying something. There is nothing you can do if you don't like it and by quitting something you invested time and money into because of something so little just makes you sound like a child who didn't get his way so he left.

I agree with whip. This update was unneeded. I hope they remove it soon, hp and hits back to normal. Which they probably will because 90 percent of rs players want it removed.

LOL.

^ Please don't pull percentages out of nowhere. The whiners are always louder than the mellow people. Wait a couple weeks and no one will even be talking about this update.

The only things that have changed is that we now hit more precisely because we have the third digit. Also, the chances of one hitting someone have been greatly reduced. Both of these changes are great, and they are only the beginning of Jagex's exciting plans to change the combat in Runescape. Stop being so stubborn and realize your lack of logic.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Yeah, this update is definitely not going away. I don't say this very often, but I have a lot of confidence in Jagex on this one.
