Going to movies by one's self?

Does anyone ever go to the movies by yourself?

Like if there was a movie you really wanted to see, and no one you knew was interested, would you go by yourself?

Because, no offence to my friends, but they for the most part of terrible taste in movies, and do not see any critically acclaimed movies. They rather settle for childish movies, comedies and cheezy action flicks.

So what does everyone think of going by yourself? And regardless of what you think, have you or would you ever go there by yourself?

I went to the newest Exorcist movie by myself because nobody wanted to see it, it felt weird watching a movie with nobody I knew, so I'm never doing that again. :P

Never have, and if the rare situation arises where none of my friends are interested in a movie, I'll just wait until it comes out on video and rent it. It's like half the price to do that anyway.

I once was free from work, at about 8 in the evening, decided I'd go and eat a fast food meal, and then walked past the cinema and saw an advert for Troy. Now, in hindsight the movie was crap. However, I didn't know it at the time, so I just went and saw the damn thing, on my own. And I don't really care, either. The only boring bit was the break, because it's just 15 minutes of sitting around doing squat all waiting for the film to start again (buying anything in the cinema doesn't even cross my mind as they overcharge by about 200% or so).

So yes, I've been to the cinema alone, and I don't think there's anything weird about it. I've also watched films at home by myself plenty of times.

Sure, why not. Not much of my friends want to join me to the small independent cinema (only one hall :D) because they don't like the titles shown there, one mate does like to come with me, but he's very bussy always, so sometimes I just go on my own.

I really don't see why you can't go to the cinema on your own, lol. If you want to see the movie but nobody wants to see it with you, you just go alone, right? After all it is about the movie.

When it costs so much to go to the cinema these days its just not worth the money unless you're gonna do it as a social thing.

̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã6.30 a ticket, plus petrol costs to get there. I might as well rent out several DVDs for that price :(

Plus little kids grief ppl on their own too, no fun :(

But that's why you go to like action/buddy/comedy flicks with others. Once the movie starts in a drama you can't talk anyway. And if it's a serious drama most of the people there won't be kiddies. I'd never go to see an action movie alone, but I'd seriously consider a drama.

I'm saying this because I'm considering going see Walk The Line by myself. I'd prolly be the only one in there because everyone would be at Harry Potter...Or some other junk of similar capacity.

Man, I'll go with you Putter, just ship out on some plane tickets for me :D

I'd contemplate it if society didn't mock lone-cinema goers. I'd spend more time getting pummelled by popcorn than I would watching and appreciating the film, so that's a no for me.

People get pop-corned or laughed at when they go to the cinema alone? :? I never noticed that, lol.

If they have popcorn, I have sodapop...

I would like to be able to go to my local cinema on my own to watch movies because it has a bar, one of the only cinemas in the country. Unfortunatly it shows films about 3 months after they are on national release and its totally full of chavs. There are times when you cant even hear the film from stupid chavvy kids ranting. :(
