British government isn't really keen on spending money to help the trade route, but Denmark will supply some troops to defend the trade route from pirates. A local group of merchants wish to form the Hanseatic league, and requests that you ask countries bordering the North sea to allow their northern cities to join up.

Kiev launches glorious celebrations at the announcement of full governmental backing to the Hanseatic Trade league! Coastal nations in the Baltic are invited to join, as well as the inland nations in the north of mainland Europe, and of course Norway!

 

Ports are set up in Kievan controlled areas of the Baltic coast to provide centres of trade for the league

Anyway, were headed by the merchant house of Eden (I forgot the name) which are directly ruled by the house of Eden, which is the governing body of France.

Kievan invasion of Baltic Tribes and Fino-Ugric Tribes

 

Two thousand Kievan men at arms continued their march into the Baltic tribes. They met a large contingent of three thousand Baltic spearmen, which were poorly trained and armored. Led by their king, they bravely charged against the Kieven soldiers, but were cut down in large numbers. Even the Baltic Chieftains's horse attempted to flee and bucked its rider, causing the Chieftain to fly backlong into the spears of his men. The rest of his soldiers were easily cut down, and the skirmishers were rounded up. Due to the sheer size of the enemy force, the Kievans lost a total of 1800 men, leaving only 300 soldiers to control the Baltic region. Scholars expect repeated uprisings in the future.

 

Three thousand Kievan men at arms moved into the Fino-Ugric tribelands. The sparsely populated area offered little resistance, and the region became under the nominal control of Kiev. However, over the harsh winter, the numerous Kievans starved in droves, leaving only 1400 to defend the region.

Nobles and merchants alike are clamoring for the newly conquer wilderness, and await your decision. Many of the nobles wish to extend their estates into the area, while merchants wish to expand into the region.

 

Due to the expanse and barreness of the new territory, further infrastructure improvements will cost 50% more until the area is settled.

The majority of the Welsh nobles have pledged their support to Leon, meaning that lawfully, Wales is your vassal. However, the king and the minority of nobles are forming a resistance, and have still make a camp in the aforementioned area. England has pledged their support behind this resistance. You may now hire up to a thousand Welsh longbowmen at the rate of 600 each. They are more skilled than most other archers, and with an additional 100, you can equip them with swords and studded leather army to increase their durability.

Another 1000 MAA are recruited and stationed in each region. Research is spent on developing survival tactics for the extreme cold.

 

The merchants are given priority on the coastline, to develop the Hanseatic League, whereas the nobles are given more land in the North of Kiev and closer inland. New nobles who proved themselves fighting the natives are created, creating a new aristocratic class - the warriors. Revered in court as proven heroes of Kiev, they are expected to always be present for the king, as well as a contingent in exchange for their land, title and honour at court.

 

Icu, that map is ludicrous... You can't just go through player countries without their permission. Only NPC's, sensibly.

 

Ultimately our routes can join at the end but Hansa stands tall and proud! Never to merge, never to falter, always to profit!

I ask for help from all countries that have are part of Eden trade league, basically everyone, involuntary cause your merchants are part of it, but you can kick em out I guess.

 

Anyway, I ask we can all save up for 20 million by the end of the next decade (18 years), this will fully establish the trade route and will be beneficial to all.

 

I currently have donated 5 million, and hope that someone else (NPC countries too) will donate enough :)

 

Also the merge with the Kiev one will only happen if Kiev traders count the Eden trade league as equals to them, and that means equal profits too.

Please note that my army was 15,000 in size or similar too, I just don't like to over do things... They lead to many casulties, but I find it humerous that I had a good kill to death ratio in my last battle, yet my army was over double theirs

 

Also, uhhh, you just siezed your own peoples land... Nice... It was a deal with your traders, but if you say no there is nothing I can do.

Because they're just tribesmen and it makes sense financially. It's how the game is balanced.

 

Also Icu.. I don't really understand your post. People don't just become part of your trade league because you say so mate.

Dusty, they were tribal lands. Basically he got no IEG, and he was basically saddled with a 50% extra cost for his infrastructure. The only thing is that he has more oppertunities for trade and expansion of his government, as well as all the things you get with more territory, like a higher chance of finding something in his land.

Erm you people do realize that this means I have a monopoly on silk (I am the only country using the silk road now; ergo I am the only supply). Anyways 1k pikemen, 300 knights, the knights apropriate number of men at arms, 1k swordsmen, 1k archers and 500 heavy horse archers are sent over to reinforce the assault on hungary. The battle formation will go as this: Swordsmen and men at arms in the front with pikemen guarding the sides and archers in the middle. The knights will be used to create cavalry charges against non spear/pike infantry and the heavy horse archers will be used to harry and generally attack enemy forces. In the event of a siege the catapults will toss plague infested corpses over the walls and the ballistae will take any archers or other siege weapons off of the wall with the help of the heavy horse archers and regular archers. The battering rams will be used to open up holes in the wall at which point balls of flaming pitch will be thrown in by the catapults/ ballistae/ trebuchets. The same battle formation will be used for infantry however cavalry will be used to cover the rear and chase/kill any escaping enemies.

 

EDIT: Oh and any merchant from eden that tries to go along the silk road will be killed (well tortured then killed).
