a_bert
That map is hilarious. -- I'm going to assume you didn't update treasury: Cause otherwise my 1500 soldiers would have cost 5 million, whereas France's 2000 light inf and 2000 knights cost 2.5? And HRE's 2500 and 10000 pikemen cost a slightly more reasonable 6.25.. But even if these figures are correct: It would imply that my 1500 were slightly stronger than their foreign contemporaries.. good enough to take slightly less losses against a barbarian rabble, no? Icuownage
I think you also bought into a trade route. And I gave specifics like amount of training and equipment, so that might of had something to do with the costs. Oh and knights are free. a_bert
I did, I've got 3 million left. [Although I actually thought the Silk Road was bit north of where it actually is.. so I'd like to change my trade route to one from here to Norway, if Nex wants it. Or somewhere in Asia, silk road II] ...Your "specific" training and equipment made your troops cost 1/8th the cost of mine? Why the [bleep] are knights free? If this crap isn't in the OP, it's not easily viewable. Ergo, retrospectively recalculate please Retech! 5000 free knights will easily achieve my objectives! Thanks. Vladimir the Great, being in great wisdom and benevolent, has bestowed a great many lordships among the people of his land. These people, now lords, dukes, marquis, viscounts, are all training to be knights. They are expected to swell the number of knights Vladimir can call upon within 4 years! Some say he has named at least 10000 more nobility.. 'Tis I, 'tis Vindice, 'tis I!

Retech
Oh Dungeonal, I was just using your old figures, and I might have forgotten to make it clear that troop costs are much cheaper now. 1500 men at arms would cost about...750,000. Then an additional 2 million was for the Silk Road. For Knights, basically if you give greater power to your nobility, then they will try to give you more knights, if you have a good reason. It does always have to drawback of crazy nobility. (Basically, I roleplay as the crazy nobility with greed in my eyes, and you try to persuade me to give you more knights) The only reason Icu got so many knights, was because he pledged Bruges and Antwerp to the rule of one noble, who happens to want a treasury of one third France under his control. -------- EDIT: Treasury issue fixed. May have accidentally multiplied by 7000 instead of 500. :P Master of your domain? I am Lord of the manor, Queen of the castle, King of the county! The_Mather1
The search of the sinkhole has turned out to find a vast numbers of smaller caverns in the walls from the layer of limestone and down, the caverns vary in size from fist-sized to grand halls. Some of the caverns contain a variety of fungi in the form of mushrooms and toadstools, inedible ones were quickly noted due to ill effects apearing in some of the more starving expedition members. Immigration into the hole by a large number of settlers has started. The newly inherited king pleads some of the other nobilties to send guards and other law enforcers to this future metroplis and in return offering them control of the first two hundred meters of caves, a stunning five thousand house-sized and six hundred "halls" as well as countless smaller ones. Retech
Hrrrm. Oh Nex, you realize the budget is 10 million per DECADE, not year. Also noting for Mather that people don't like living in caves. The_Mather1
People don't like the idea of living in caves, I'm sure people from old times would kill to avoid living in skyscrapers. Anyways, need I remind you that for millenia man used to live in caves, who said returning would be impossible... That or I could just send all people suffering from dwarfism down there. Rocco, keep in mind that so far it is only a gaping hole with a lot of inversed pimples where some people climbed down, it will need a lot of work, like scaffolding, ornation, furnishing, fungi aggriculture, shafts, etc. Also mountains don't just suddenly appear, sinkoles do (just ask that dog who recently had his entire family, and even their house dissapear into the ground in Canada). Retech
The expedition members decide to move out of the sinkhole, and it collapses into itself due to unwantedness. A more permanent cave complex could be built in some solid rock, however. Oh btw, Icu had more troops for Bruges, but he decided to keep some of them back, which is why they were not mentioned. They were paid for, which is why it seems like the troops Icu got were so expensive. Master of your domain? I am Lord of the manor, Queen of the castle, King of the county! Seraphi
The search for a large, shallow sloped mountain begins, to extract metal and stone from. STRIKE THE EARTH. (Retech, I was thinking if we asked you to decide if we find this sort of stuff or not, then it would be fair. I don't know, roll a dice or something?) Cranequin crossbows are being developed further, and knights are being trained in their use. The primary knight weapon is a large, double headed axe with a bladed shaft and a shielded handle. Guess where the inspiration for my civilisation came from. Hint, it's called Dwarf Fortress.
