A tale of Bork, electrical fuses and frustration

Hi, I was just killing Bork. Partially in the hopes of getting an elite clue scroll. And behold, I did! I picked up my charms, coins and gems and finally the clue scroll. I was really happy, maybe I could get my hands on one of those ornament sets? I danced a little dance of joy, and WHAM! Power's out...

Turns out, my sister had tried to plug yet another electrical device into the already heavily populated extension cord. As a result, the security fuse blew it. Ok, not to worry, I thought. I will probably spawn in the same cave I left, and if all else goes bad, I have a six-minute gravestone. I fixed the fuse, but on the way back, my sister tried to plug that cord in AGAIN. Same result. Finding a second replacement fuse took some time, so when I logged back on, I found myself in Nomad's Camp, my inventory filled with a fury, my whip and Soul Wars cape. With 17 seconds left on my timer. Turns out, when you lag out like that, you are instantly kicked from the instanced Bork's cave, and straight into the pile of Dagganoths waiting outside. My health was already at mid (as I usually top off my health with cheaper food in safer locations), so the multicombat rangers must have piled me down in a matter of seconds.

Losses:

  • Helm of Netiznot
  • Karil's top
  • Karil's skirt
  • Dragon boots
  • Barrows gloves
  • Explorer's ring 3 (not much, but somewhat a hassle to get back)
  • Dragon dagger(++)
  • My one and only rune defender
  • The clue scroll
  • Bork's usual droppings

Total loss of 6,4M, as well as the defender and clue scroll. Due to electric breakdown. MEH!

Nice rant (this is what rants is for tbh) that once happened to me too, 2 weeks before they introduced the grave outside of bork thing (didnt even need a power cut to lose my stuff )

But this is even more annoying cause you lost the scroll too :P

Anyway yeah it sucks and so you know for next time karils doesn't do anything against the mage's attack, proselyte or something is better.

Ouch, maybe they should make so that the teleport leading to dagannoths teleport you to the Dagon'hai hideout or somthing like that idk. :P Dw, it was just probably a super set and couple of meerkat scrolls. (Or 3 different metal dragon masks and a 3a druidic gear. :ohnoes: )

Well that sucks. Explain the principle of 16A currents (if that's the standard you use) to your sister. And change your cable setup. Finally: Use a laptop with a battery warning. Saves you on power outages.

Maybe you should do something to the extension cord to stop your sister from getting at it. Sometimes I love playing on a laptop.

If you click on them they hatch or grow up faster and look awesomer!!!

Cable setup has changed - we have some work being done around the house, so we needed some free contact points for quite heavy electrical tools. Also, I've gotten back everything but Karil's top by now.

Same almost happened to me yesterday due to faulty wiring in the Clothes Dryer, but it was just before I entered the Chaos Tunnels, I ran out to grab a drink first. guess it saved my arse (and 4m).

Is it just a general unwritten rule that sisters are always stupendously bad with technology? My own sister and the sisters of two of my friends can seem totally braindead when it comes to anything technical or with electricity flowing through it.

Just a small comment on your set up though. Why use karils? Have you ever noticed it blocking a single one of the mage's magical attacks? I have a friend who once used full arma and had 99 mage and def. He said that after 30+ runs of bork he had not seen one instance of a blocked magic attack. I'd think that prossy would be much better since you could pray piet + pro melee the entire fight.

Instead of blaming the fuses or your sister, you should be blaming Jagex for their half-assed implementation of gravestones.

A 10-minute grave that costs 5M seems plausible to me.

The clock shouldn't be counting down when you are not in-game to attend to it.
