So basically two months ago, 33 miners got trapped and the rescue attempt is happening in minutes/hours. You can watch the live feed at the bottom of that link and read the story.

They're going to be raised up in a small tube-like thing... It's really narrow and it reminds me of a casket. I'd be scared as hell...

What do you think?

Like you I'd be freaked out! Then again, if you are going to work that far underground everyday in those conditions

I doubt that little ride up would scare you .

I'm amazed that they survived that long, and kept their calm.

Hope they are all returned to the surface safely :)

Awesome.

I actually must say that I'm tired of hearing about it on the BBC. Yes, it sucks, but they will get rescued. Now, how about something on modern slavery?

"Those who give up their liberty for more security neither deserve liberty nor security."

Support transparency... and by extension, freedom and democracy.

I never understood why this is such a huge story. While it is important, the story seems to be overexposed.

I've been watching the live feed all evening

It's quite interesting, makes me wish I spoke more Spanish though :(

Wow, I hope they're ok.

Because it's the first time people have been rescued from a mine incident after so long, and it's quite amazing that they haven't gone crazy or all gotten diseased from their own waste and what not.

the precursor to fresh air and freedom for 33 men trapped for 69 days. No one in history has been trapped underground so long and survived.

Apparently they have enough of the mine to roam around in that sanitation isn't a huge issue.

Over two months? That's insane. I can barely stay in the same room for a couple hours.

Made even more insane by the fact that they don't have books or tv or internet or anything. Damn, after they've been through this they can sit through anything

I saw the big wooden flag on the rescue site and couldn't help think Chile is just advertising "Don't mine here, this is what happens"

Glad they're finally out though.

Yup, glad they made it out. That would really suck though.

I wonder how they kept themselves entertained. I go insane when I lose internet for a few hours.

Get back here so I can rub your butt.

Rock, paper, scissors! Ha, you lose again Bill! Oh I give up that's for 1,487th time this week!

Hide and seek anyone?

Hand check!

Ah Pablo, where are your hands!

On an equally serious note, I read a story some time ago. Just when it couldn't get any worse for the miners, there were two women at the mine site praying for the same dude. They both noticed each other. One was his wife, the other his lover. Cat fight of the century. I figure at least one of the miners doesn't want to surface. Being stuck in a hole might be better than facing your wife after she learns of your infidelity...

Ouuuuch. Yeah, I'd rather stay and hide in that god forsaken mine, then deal with that.

At the same time, imagine how that miner would've felt... First immense joy and then a second later super-apologetic and guilty...

Or perhaps both women found a kindred spirit within one another, and now the miner has two chicks? You never know...

Hahaha...

haha...

Yeah, doubt it.

I think it's great they're being rescued and it's quite amazing in a way, staying down there for so long. They were under there for 17 days before being found... imagine that? 17 days alone in the pitch black scared that you'll be given up for dead or not even knowing that people know you're there. The media exposure over this is a bit... eh. I suppose 24 hr news doesn't have much else to broadcast though *shrugs*

Good for them, they won't be miners anymore. All the tv show, movie, book deals will make them super rich.

Sucks that there isnt much news.
