Slayer

Ive never really liked slayer but ive decided for my combat and its level its pretty low.

So ive hopped back aboard the slayer train.

 

My questions are the following

 

1. What slayer master should i use - please dont say the highest one i can beacuse they give harder to do task which i wont complete like i died earlier of a mith dragon

task and i only had to kill 6 (-.-)

 

2. Whats a good melle setup for overall slaying

 

 

3. anything else you can think of to help me

1. kurdal, if your dying to miths your doing something wrong, I don't even bring food.

2. bandos, firecape, fury, dboots, whip/rapier, rune defender, zerker ring (i)/fer. ring, barrows gloves, FSH

3. piety/turmoil every task, super sets/extremes every task, claws/dds every task, cannon all possible tasks, combat familiar all posible tasks, bunyip/BOB rest.

DK drops (solo/LS): 66 hatchets, 14 archer rings, 13 berserker rings, 17 warrior rings, 12 seerculls, 13 mud staves, 7 seers rings

QBD drops: 1 kite, 2 visages, 4 dragonbone kits, 3 effigies, lots of crossbow parts

CR vs. CLS threads always turn into discussions about penis size.

I've sent a 12k combat mission to have Aiel assassinated (poor bastard isn't even Pincers-tier difficulty).

Well really the highest one you can use (Kuradal) gives you fastest xp I believe.

 

My personal general melee slaying outfit:

 

Fsh

Quest cape

Fury

No ammo :P

Whip

Guth plate

Rune defender

Verac's skirt

Barrows gloves

D boots

W/e ring is best for situation (Warrior's or Fero)

 

Inv:

Korasi's sword for specs

Slayer gem

Cannon

Yip pouches

Summ pot?

1 monk

(No pots :P)

 

 

 

 

 

 

Other advice:

Block whatever tasks you hate. For example I hate skele wyverns because they are slow, so I blocked them. I like that steel drags are simple, so they are not blocked. I personally have never received a mith drag task; I've only killed 2 (1 for fremmy diary and the other because I had enough supplies left over for another after killing the first one :P)

 

Kill ~20 aquanites before deciding if you want to unlock them.

Quest cape achieved 28 Dec, 2009, lost with Nomad's Requiem, re-obtained on 19 Mar 2010.

 

Fire cape achieved 1 Nov 2010.

I'm around your slayer level with lower melees and I'm still using summona. If your 110 cb I think your fine in moving on to kura but duradel/lapy assign pretty much the same tasks as summona but in higher quantities.

 

so imo kura if you can and summona otherwise also summona gives alot of cannonables

One thing that's partially important...do you plan on being...

 

A casual slayer (not using boosting prayers, probably afking a few times, no cannon, no combat familiars)

A quick slayer (Piety/turmoil, combat familiar, but no cannon) <--Not really a class, just what I do :P

A powerslayer (basically do what aeil said)

Just curious, what's your setup and inventory for miths that doesn't require food?

99 HP, Attack, Strength, Defence, Summoning, Ranged, Herblore, Prayer, Agility, Magic, Slayer, Fletching, Fishing, Woodcutting, Mining, and Thieving.

wear barrows/bandos and pray mage instead

I don't understand why people keep saying this- their melee attacks are far more accurate and hit for more on bandos than their magic attack does on karils, and also, as their range attack is mage based, you will be better protected against that aswell. I'm sure bandos works fine when you can constantly ss flick, but with karils, unicorn easily covers the healing.

This is my one-post slayer guide :P:

The base slayer gear is as follows (alternatives in brackets):

  • [For all slayer monsters except those mentioned under other weapons] Chaotic rapier (whip)
  • Bandos body + legs (Verac's skirt with either fighter torso or proselyte top)
  • [Depending on prayer/accuracy needs] Fire cape/Soul Wars cape/Ardougne cloak 3
  • Barrows gloves (your best rfd gloves, at least rune)
  • Dragon boots (rune boots)
  • Amulet of fury (glory)
  • Rune defender
  • Berserker ring (i)/ferocious ring if slaying in Kuradal's Dungeon (berserker ring, warrior ring)
  • [Most important] Full slayer helmet.
  • [For magic defence on waterfiends/aquanites] Karil's top and bottom (black dragonhide body and chaps)
  • [Crush attacks to use on waterfiends] Chaotic maul (saradomin sword, zamorakian spear)
  • [stab attacks for higher-levelled dragons, when not using rapier] Zamorakian spear (Korasi's/leaf-bladed sword)
  • Task-specific items such as mirror shields, antifire shields/potions, elemental shields, rock hammers, crystal chimes
  • Cannon (optional, up to personal preference)

Slayer setups generally emphasise strength bonus, which increases the average damage of each succesful hit (slayer monsters usually having rather low defence, hitting is not a problem). Secondly, prayer bonus is important to keep the cost of prayer potions down (as you slay with piety on, to increase the speed of your kills. This is cost-effective and highly recommended). As a rule of thumb, +15 prayer bonus or above is good, but don't overdo it (anything above +25 is a waste, even when using lots of prayers). Defence and accuracy bonus are usually not fretted over (any defence bonus over 200 will do; if you get hit too often you should be using a protection prayer). Dagganoth, black demon, lesser demon, hellhound, bloodveld and spectre tasks should be cannoned, as it dramatically increases xp rates (although it costs a bit).

 

Some notes on gear: You'll want a fury and a berserker ring before you get bandos plate, and get that before tassets. You'll want accuracy bonus on higher-levelled dragons; if using stab attacks (which you should) you can use the Ardougne cloak 3 which provides you with +6 stab and +6 prayer bonus. Torso + sw cape and fire cape + proselyte are common cheap top/cape combinations; the former is slightly better.

 

Some levels to get for slayer (in approximate order but I'm not sure on the summoning):

  • 68 summoning - bunyip
  • 81 dungeoneering (you need 2 million xp, which takes you to level 80, but allowing some tokens for the scroll of life) - rapier
  • 89 herblore (85 with a +4 stew boost) - extreme potions, superantifires
  • 95 prayer - turmoil and soul split
  • 88 summoning - unicorn
  • 96 herblore (91 with a +5 stew boost) - overload
  • 99 summoning - steel titan

I'm sure I missed something but this is most of it.

because bandos gives a strength bonus, or veracs gives a prayer bonus. you can heal enough with soulsplit that you don't even need a unicorn and can use yak if you want.

 

it actually seemed to me that their melee less accurate on bandos w/ turmoil and overload than their magic attack on karils. no hard data here, since it doesn't really matter either way. i just use bandos for strength bonus.

I'm 100% certain that they do far more damage with melee on bandos than mage on karils, i've tried it myself, and when not wanting to soul split, I couldn't heal enough to stay alive, even with unicorn. The strength bonus is slight and really doesn't help too much as your accuracy will be fairly low anyway.
