December 5, 201015 yr If you are like me, you've probably seen the commercials of Lord of The Rings Online going f2p, or a good portion doing so. So, I'm curious what people might think the impact on Runescape. It's not likely to have much economic impact on them or on their membership, but I'm hoping that the competition makes them step up what I think has been their lackluster performance over the past 2 years.
December 5, 201015 yr None Three months banishment to 9gag is something i would never wish upon anybody, not even my worst enemy.

December 5, 201015 yr None This ^The games are fairly far apart in terms of game play as far as I know, so I doubt anything will change. ........::::: Rainy's YouTube Channel - Rainy's Twitter - Rainy's Facebook - Rainy's DeviantArt - Rainy's Tumblr - Rainy's Tip.It Profile :::::.........
December 5, 201015 yr Author Yes, I suppose. On another matter, how much impact do you think the fact that Runescape doesn't require a download and installation to play the game. I know for a fact that many online game can't be played at libraries, aka child gameplaying mecca, from playing them.
December 5, 201015 yr None(text) All skills 70+ Trails: 2 x Rune platebody (g)Barrows: 1 x Dharok's legsDrops: 1 x Dragon skirt | 1 x Dragon defender
December 5, 201015 yr Author None what so ever. That game fails btw... Does it? I heard it had an overall good reputation and hasn't fallen by the wayside like so many MMOs.

With technology being as cheap as it is these days as well as affordable plans offered by most ISPs nowadays I'd question how large of a userbase actually still uses libraries as their only way of playing. It certainly helps build RS' popularity, sure.

December 5, 201015 yr I'm not sure what kind of blogs you are reading sir, but this game has been F2P since September 2010, so you judge how much of an impact it had on RS (none in my opinion).
December 5, 201015 yr None *cough* ^ I don't know which mod did this. I don't know why they did it. If they're looking for money, I can tell them I don't have any as I'm a student. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills; skills I have acquired over 4 years of RuneScape. Skills that I have worked hard for and people like them can't take them away. If they give me my particles back now, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for them, I will not pursue them. But if they don't, I will look for them, I will find them, and they won't like what'll happen
December 5, 201015 yr LOTRO has only been f2p for US players since September, and the rest of the world as of mid-November. So to say it has had no effect at all would be quite mis-judging as we've only had, what? 3 weeks to compare it properly? LOTRO doesn't currently have the amount of subscribers RS has, but it is catching up rather quickly. The game, in my opinion, is epic. Questing is amazing, and so are the areas. The only thing it now needs is a large community such as Runescape's. New sig to come!
December 5, 201015 yr Asking about other MMOs in a Runescape community is stupid, most of these kids have never played another MMO. LOTRO is a great MMO for being free-to-play, it's basically a substitute for World of Warcraft for those who can't play the monthly sub. Anyone who values gameplay is already playing games like LOTRO, the RS community values their stats and their addiction, making other MMOs meaningless to them. -------------------------------------------------------------------
December 5, 201015 yr Asking about other MMOs in a Runescape community is stupid, most of these kids have never played another MMO. I'd love to know where you read that at! I'm sure it'd make for an interesting read. I think you'd find that lots of people have played more than one mmo in their life. Is it fair to ignore other mmos because they might be simple or just a different sort of game?
December 5, 201015 yr Asking about other MMOs in a Runescape community is stupid, most of these kids have never played another MMO.....kid? *eyebrow twitch* I dont see this having any effect not because of popularity, communites etc but because RUnescape is Java based and LOTRO is DVD Disc based, especially people with older model computers or lack a grpahics card. Popoto.~<3
December 5, 201015 yr Jagex might lose their Guinness world records tittle but apart from that I don't really see it having any other effects. Why can't the Big Bang be done by the hand of God?It could have, but it is next to impossible because it also could have been caused by the flying spaghetti monster, or one of the other infinite number of deity possibilities.
