It's always funny. People look at my combat level (138) and the gear I'm wearing and usually tell me, "Nerd. Get a life."

That's the point where I usually reply: "I've got a husband, three kids, a job, a house, a mortgage and a monthly car payment. How much more of a "life" do I really need?"

:P

I like this response.

Me too, lol... people are so judgmental without even knowing the person they're talking trash to. :P

This happens in every game; it's not unique to Runescape at all. I suppose it gets more annoying in CoD where you hear the person's voice. But there's always some form of ignore button which I tend to use to my discretion.

nerd annoys me the most, but only beacuse I do not understand why people use it in a game

It annoys me purely out of my confusion, they say it as if they aren't a nerd, but they are freaking playing an MMO, if that does not make you a nerd then I dont know what does, so why would you use it as in insult.

None of them are really annoying, umadbrah from some random person can probably get a little irritating though. I tend to ignore anyone who is going to be irritating/full of themselves, which is a fair few people.

( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Five kids, two jobs, three houses, four cars, two mortgages and another husband? o.O

lol

But seriously, your response wins.

And honestly, most of the time when someone gets insulted for being a "no life" with high levels, the person is just jealous and insecure about the higher level player, so the person makes up some derogatory thing about the high level players life to make themselves feel better. Honestly though, it seems to me that most high level players DO have quite the life as well. (Could be completely off about that though.)

I know. Sadly, I lack magic powers irl :(

Working on it though...

Squab unleashes Megiddo! Completed all quests and hard diaries. 75+ Skiller. (At one point.) 2000+ total. 99 Magic.

my difinition of noob is i dont like u, either u are better then me or u are worst them me

Buying spins make you a bad person...don't do it. It's like buying nukes for North Korea.

Well if it bothers you that the game is more fun now, then you can go cry in a corner. :shame:

your article was the equivalent of a circumcized porcupine

The only thing wrong with it is the lack of a percentage for when you need to stroke it.

Exactly. Whenever someone on RS/other games tries to insult me, I laugh at the realization of how sad they must be to try to insult random people to boost their self-confidence.

Sometimes you'd think flashing that silver crown would deter people from insulting you but nooo I've been called worse. But it's fine, just imagine that person on the other side of the screen is a little kid needing a hug. It's really funny when I do "*hugs [name]*" on that person, he gets really mad

Here are my thoughts whenever someone tries using any of the above:

Noob: 1) Unoriginal. 2) ....Well there's really not much more to say here is there?

Kid: 1) I say that as a term synonymous with "dude" or "guy" around my friends (ie: you crazy kid, that kid's epic etc) so that really doesn't bother me. 2) I wish I was still a kid, kids have so much fun and no responsibilities :D

Nerd: 1) Yes, yes I am 2) You play runescape yet you denounce others as a nerd #-o

What does sometimes irk me however is when people use "yuhmadbrah?". Not on the basis of actually getting mad at what they're doing but because of the calibre of [wagon]hole that exists in this world. Its probably just me, but anyone who uses "brah" in typical conversation degrades themselves to a level of pathetic insecurity normally found among frat guys and those seeking to show how big of a [bleep] they can be to the rest of the world whilst under the assumption that it actually shines an attractive light upon them.

In any case, all of the above show an inherent need to boost themselves at the expense of another.... I'm with the poster on the RSOF, human beings are despicable.

I read this in the beginning of the topic and just wanted to point out in Hawaii we use brah just like you would use dude, friend or buddy. ;)

More OT: Words never really bothered me. I almost always have my public chat on friends and private off anyways, yeah, I'm one of those people :P

Typically I vary my attitude from game to game. Sometimes I'm an [wagon]. Sometimes I'm the kind guy that I really am. When I'm an [wagon], it's typically because the game is very political/PvP oriented, so I have to insult them in order to distract them during combat/make them angry and say too much (e.g. give me vital intel on accident).

If someone insulted me, I'd just take some of my own medicine, really. I'm used to treating others that way in some communities, so it's only fair that the same happens to me from time to time. In Runescape it's pretty easy to ignore people, but it can be harder in other games that lack an ingame ignore list. For those situations, I just have to walk away/leave the chat because I know anger can make people do stupid [cabbage]. Although if you were standing by me ingame, in a PvP zone, and started insulting me, I would outright kill you if I knew I could.

I voted for "kid", because it isn't an offense. Only ones who find them offensive are the ones who call you that. And guess how old they are...

Nerd is a compliment for me. Even when you are mad you still can acknowledge that I am smarter than you? Yeah, I know... I'm pretty awesome.

None of them really bothers me. If I'm called a nerd-I usually prove them right as I am a nerd when it comes to knifemaking and metalworking. By the time I show them my often superior knowledge in the subjects-they resort to one of the classic "insults" by saying something along the lines of "sad" since they have no idea of what to say or either they fall silent.

So I'm thinking..Orly? If I'm sad for having irl knowledge/skills that could land me a job or provide me with a source of income..what does that make them?

And I agree with the above poster-this line is nothing but pure win.

poll doesn't have a "none of these bother me" option therefore I did not vote. It's hard for me to take people on the internet seriously.

I typed out a long rant regarding how being a nerd isn't half the achievement most people in this thread seem to think it is, and how you can be smart and successful without being a socially inadequate 'nerd'. I mean, get a life yano? However I realized at the last minute that posting something like that hardly displayed the advanced social graces which I was advocating, so I decided not to.

OT: The only way these insults irritate me is because its clear the user thinks they are a better person, and I know that's not true. I am the best person.

Is your life so empty that you honestly can't think of a better way to spend these moments? Or are you so impressed with authority that you give respect and credence to all that claim it? Do you read everything you're supposed to read? Do you think every thing you're supposed to think? Buy what you're told to want? Get out of your apartment. Meet a member of the opposite sex. Stop the excessive shopping and masturbation. Quit your job. Start a fight. Prove you're alive. If you don't claim your humanity you will become a statistic. You have been warned- Tyler"
