Here are my thoughts whenever someone tries using any of the above:

 

Noob: 1) Unoriginal. 2) ....Well there's really not much more to say here is there?

Kid: 1) I say that as a term synonymous with "dude" or "guy" around my friends (ie: you crazy kid, that kid's epic etc) so that really doesn't bother me. 2) I wish I was still a kid, kids have so much fun and no responsibilities :D

Nerd: 1) Yes, yes I am 2) You play runescape yet you denounce others as a nerd #-o

 

What does sometimes irk me however is when people use "yuhmadbrah?". Not on the basis of actually getting mad at what they're doing but because of the calibre of [wagon]hole that exists in this world. Its probably just me, but anyone who uses "brah" in typical conversation degrades themselves to a level of pathetic insecurity normally found among frat guys and those seeking to show how big of a [bleep] they can be to the rest of the world whilst under the assumption that it actually shines an attractive light upon them.

 

In any case, all of the above show an inherent need to boost themselves at the expense of another.... I'm with the poster on the RSOF, human beings are despicable.

Two re****ed things, one of which isn't on the list.

Firstly, "kid", of course. Being 21 and called a kid by a 15 year old brat really brings my piss to a boil. Saying that I'm an adult and should ignore it is asking for a lot, personally.

Second, "welfare". It's a term, but anyone that has been playing RS for the past few months must've got the definition mixed up. What pisses me off with the abuse of this word, is that it doesn't make any god damn sense - "welfare gear" for example. Is the, err, gear, given as part of something to keep the welfare of one's someth...**** it. I get a headache just from trying to figure it out, let alone figure out how the first few idiots came out with this crap.

None of those options insult me. I have learnt over the years I will either be considered a 'noob' or a 'nerd', so either way you can't win. 'Umadbro' and 'kid' are typed too often nowadays to even phase me. It's up to players how they wish to conduct themselves. Those insults show to me a lack of maturity if anything, and I am certainly not insulted by them.

 

In fact, when I am called a 'nerd' in particular, I consider it a compliment. Not only is a 'nerd' considered smart, (geeky maybe, but nonetheless) but most people consider nerds as people who play the game too long. I admit I'm an avid fan of Runescape, and I'm proud of it. So to me, being called a nerd is the utmost compliment :)

Lol you should just let it slide, it's the most effective strategy in my opinion. Welfare gear is especially funny, especially when you kill someone in Veracs with a whip and defender with a rune Cbow Black D'hide top and rune skirt. :) Never gets old. :thumbup:

Only two words annoy me: 'noob' when it comes from lowerlevels towards high cb people, especially if they're wearing untrimmed cook cape and big mouth people coz they actually were patient enough to grind down one skill...

Kid annoys me because I'm 26 and it makes no sense if a teenager calls people 'kid' without knowing them...

Nope. They get satisfaction out of having people attempt to resist them, so that they can continue harassing them. I learned this from one of my best friends in middle school, who was sometimes made fun of because he was a bit metrosexual. When he got called names, he just said, "Yep, yep. You got me," and stuff of that nature. It stopped, and now he has a very cute girlfriend and is successful in college.
