Farming *NEW QUESTION*

SirIzenhime

Recommended Posts

Ok, my new question now is this.

What is the best route to take when doing my tree/herb/bush runs?

How should an inventory look for each run?

I've been looking to raise my farming

Which tree seed is the best to use between Yew and Magic, taking price into consideration. If I use Yew trees, should I bother paying the 10 spines?

Which fruit tree seed is the best to use between Papaya and palm. One thing I thought about was using palms with magic seeds so I can use the coconuts to slightly cheepen paying for magic seeds.

Are calquat trees worth doing? If so, pay the farmer or not?

As well as tree seeds, I'm also looking to do herbs.

I have a scroll of life, but do not have Juju Potions.

Looking at the Wiki graphs, Snapdragon seeds offer the best average profit at 28k per. Should I trust my luck to hold out with dieing herbs, or go with a safer seeds like Kwuarm or Avantoe?

How many herb runs would I have to do daily to break even off farming if I use Yews + Papaya + Calquat? Magic + Palm + Calquat?

Are bushes worth farming?

Since I'm already at the patches, would Limpwurts be worth farming?

Are any allotments worth farming?

Any special patches other than Calquat worth farming?

I would plan to only do 1 tree run per day, period.

If I did Bushes, I'd do 2-3 runs.

I have my spirit tree at Misc. I DO have spirit tree seeds saved up from MTK, should I consider up-rooting my current spirit tree, and planting those, since I can just use fairy ring for Misc?

Yes, they're really tempermental though, so get a emerland amulet unstrung, add a magic root (run through a spinning wheel) then enchant it with emerald enchantment and bind it to the calquat patch (so you can rub it to see when its done).

Calquats are around 3.2 gp/xp so they are one of the best in farming, tai boi teleport scrolls are good to get there too!

Plant spirit seeds when you get them it's a nice boost.

I did Magics and Palms to get it over with, I did do calcs recently for a friend, I'll pull up the results..

SCROLL OF LIFE IS A MUST FOR 10K DUNGEONEERING TOKENS

Members only. Requires a Farming level of 25 and a Dungeoneering level of 25. Once used, the scroll will disappear, giving you the following permanent effects:

* When harvesting a non-tree farming patch, there is a 10% chance that you will regain a number of seeds equal to the number you originally planted

* When digging up a fruit tree or normal tree patch, there is a 5% chance that you will regain the seed you originally planted

You gain the chance of regaining seeds once you have FINISHED harvesting a patch; you do not get a 10% chance for every ranarr herb you harvest from a patch, for example.

NOTE - If you harvest dead herbs, the herb seed you have a chance of receiving will be random. Sometimes, you may receive a torstol seed after harvesting a guam, for example. This only applies to dead herbs: live herbs will offer you a seed that is identical to the ones you originally planted in the patch.

If you pay a farmer to dig up a tree for you, you forfeit the chance of regaining your seed. Paying farmers to look after your plants will have no effect on your chances of receiving seeds - as long as you cut down or harvest the plant yourself, you will receive the chance of regaining the seeds. Spirit trees and calquat trees do not give replacement seeds.

I already have a scroll of life, I said in my first post

Anyways, thanks for the calcs, yet, that part I could have (and did) already do myself.

I'm mostly looking for guidance on Herbs, Yews/Papaya Vs Magic/Palm. And then random stuff about other patches and how many runs I should do daily for herbs/bushes.

Well that's best suited for you really, you need to work out the gp/xp and the time it'd take you to get 99, I didn't do herbs and bushes because I don't think the xp is worth it, if you can make the money to pay back the magic trees why not (for example if you can kill frost dragons).

You sound more like you want confirming a plan you have already, and wan't reinforcement of that :P

I have a general idea of what I want to do...but I still want to know which herb is best, if bushes are worth doing, and just the general comparison of time/money on yew/papaya vs magic/palm.

I do have access to the best money makers, but the only one I actually do is DKs, and that's only if I have them as a task. I don't camp frost dragons or Tds, because I do not like to.

When training farming, I want to look at the skill, by itself completely. I want to ignore being able to get money elsewhere, and focus on not loosing a lot on farming, but still doing it in a sort of efficient way...if that make sense.

Thought herbs were kinda obvious. Snaps or torstols w/ farm pots. The only bush I do is the tele to monastary w/ ardy cape since its a free tele and unlimited. I also do the cactus spot with the duelling ring every farm run on the side.

Tortol are far from obvious considering that I don't have the farming potions, and that they're currently in a landslide dead last in profit out of all the herbs right now without them...they're in the negative...by a lot too.

Would it be smart to rely on the 6.5 herb/seed average for snapdragons at the price of their seed?

For Yews and Mages, I'd say go with yews and don't pay the spines.

Go with papaya in my own opinion.

Yeah, do the calquats, about the ivies... Look at the bushes answer.

Do snapdragons, but if you get juju potions, torstols are the best.

Yeah, buy a skills necklace and a combat bracelet, for skills necklace, teleport to crafting guild and run south for the patch. As for combat bracelet, teleport to the champion's guild, and you should see the bush patch in the mini map. You can farm two poison ivies there and get 8 ivies, the ones you can use to pay for the calquat :P. Each ivy is a bit less than 1k XP and is worth like 90gp a seed, or something, so yeah, worth it in my opinion, if you have ardougne cloak 3, after you do those two patches teleport to the monastery south of Ardougne, do that patch then run east and go through the fairy ring, then go to Miscellania [CIP code I think] then keep running east and south of the castle on Etceteria you should see the 4th and final bush patch.

As for other specials, I have no idea, I guess you could try the mushroom at Canifis if you have Kharyll teleport and the Cactus if you have an amulet of glory... But I don't do those.

And lastly, I don't know about the spirit tree, I still have mine in bank.

Palms are cheap xp, use them, and coconuts aren't annoying to note unlike papays that you can accidentally eat and need a right click to note. Magics are worth it if you have lots of cash and want to get it faster. But most people get 99 with palm/yews.

The new minigame might seem intimidating at first but it's easy to get the farming jujus. Hunt common jadinkos until you can hunt carrion. Then hunt carrion for ugune seeds, and igneous for the seconds. Allows you great profit and more xp off torstols.

Bush runs take like 3 mins and get you like 50k profit. I do them once a day because you walk right next to the maple trees in miscellania so you can get your popularity up on the way by bringing an axe.

I'd get farming juju and plant torstol, magics, palms. Well actually I'd do torstol only but you sound like you want the xp NOW :P.

Have you looked through Grimy's farming sheet?

Lists all costs and info you'd need to know with all various methods. (However doesn't take into account the cost of protecting a tree and assumes you don't)

Aside from that, picking what trees to plant ultimately depends on, how fast do you want to get to 99 farming? Do you like/dislike the process of a routine run per day (fruit tree/tree)? Would you value XP past 99?

Farming is just a side skill that you do while training others, you can plant everything at 85 & open max effigies at 94(garden pie) is there any reason to rush to 99?

Those are some additional questions you'd have to answer in order to see what method & ultimately price is best for you.

bump for new question

There is an AoW guide with the exact answers to your question. I suggest you take thirty seconds and look for it, in fact, in the time it took for you to post, you probably could have found it had you wanted to.

Hint: There is only one AoW farming guide.

PM me in game anytime

It's a lot easier then that for an idiot to sound smart on the internet.

That's exactly what you're doing right now... just saying.

I do:

Ecto -> port Phastmathys patch

Cabbage port -> Falador patch

Camelot teleport -> Catherby patch

Ardy cape -> monastery for bush

Ardy cape for ardy patch

Trollheim tele for My Arm's patch.

Either glory to al-Kharid for cactus, mix in chipped tablet to rimmington for another bush, or glory to Edge to bank.

Ardy cape for ardy patch

Trollheim tele for My Arm's patch.

Either glory to al-Kharid for cactus, mix in chipped tablet to rimmington for another bush, or glory to Edge to bank.

Combat bracelet brings you right next to another bush. And if you have your tree in miscellania, you can get to that bush tree very quick too (mobilising armies tele).

For best set up for tree run: Look at the farming guide by Zaaps in the AOW. I personally have a tree at miscellania and use brimhaven tele tabs for the brimhaven patch and calquat. Bring a giant ent for more profit of the papaya/coconut you harvest. Harvest your cacti spines too while you have the ent, cause it works on those too!

For herbs and bush, I do a set up that lets me do them both very quick.

Herbs and bush run set up

Wear:

  •
  • Ardy cloak
  • ring of duelling
  • magic secateurs
  • combat bracelet

Bring:

  •
  • 5 herb seeds, 4 poison ivy seeds
  • Spade and seed dibber
  • 5 super compost
  • 2 fire runes, 5 air runes, 3 law runes
  • Lumby ring
  • Ectophial
  • Rimmington chipped tablet
  • Wolpertinger (summon it)

Bush run

  •
  • Start by using the rimmington chipped tablet, harvest and replant ivies
  • Combat bracelet, harvest replant ivies
  • Mobilising armies, spirit tree to miscellania, harvest and replant ivies
  • Ardy cloak monastery tele, harvest and replant ivies

(this should take only 2 min, so it's worth it IMO)

Herb run

  •
  • Trollheim tele, harvest replant herbs
  • Ectophial, harvest and replant herbs
  • Lumby ring tele, harvest and replant herbs
  • Ardy cloak tele, harvest and replant herbs
  • Camelot tele, harvest and replant herbs, bank in Catherby.

(I STRONGLY STRONGLY recommend juju pots, even if you cba getting them. It's easier than i sounds).

(I don't bother with flower patch anymore)

Lunars is best for farming overall and you can just book swap for trollheim ports. So assuming on lunars:

Fruit Tree/Regular Tree runs

Catherby Teleport

Dueling ring

Tiny elf crystal

Chipped home teletab

1. Catherby teleport gets you to the fruit tree east of the main area

2. Duelling ring to mobilising armies spirit tree and then spirit tree to gnome village. As soon as you're done that tree, dueling ring -> gnome stronghold.

3. At this point, I like to do the regular tree at the stronghold. Grab some logs from the bank or chop some and take the balloon to Taverly to do the tree there.

4. Chipped home teletab brings you to brimhaven, do the tree there and run to the calquat if you like.

5. Lletya teleport and final fruit tree.

Remaining regular trees are varrock, lumbridge, and fally, so the respective teletabs would take care of those.

Bush patches

Chipped home teletab

Ardy cape

Combat brace

Dueling ring/Misc teleport scroll/some means to get to a fairy ring/lyre

1. Teletab brings you to Rimmington

2. Ardy cape does south ardy patch

3. Combat brace gets you to champs guild

4. If you have a spirit tree in etceteria, dueling ring to mob armies, teleport to to the tree there. Otherwise just use a scroll, but that can get pricey since the berries aren't worth much. You can also fairy ring there or just use a lyre.
