Pures

RESULTS

Recommended Posts

There is something i cannot put my finger on that i hate with a passion about the typical 'strength pures' and range 2hers..

whether it's the fact that when i see someone strolling around with their Iron equipment hitting an enemy every 22nd attempt and getting hit back more.

or the fact the think they can take anyone on in an arena. Sure theyre gonna do more damage to me in an unarmoured stake.. That IS what they made their sorry account for. I'm obviously not going to suffer the handicap of being removed of 1/3 of my levels worth of equipment just so they can show me their max hit with an Iron scimitar.

or maybe even if they are training at chaos druids and require food? Mate, if you bothered investing in a skill called defense, you wouldn't need to even eat at chaos druids. What will a mentally functioning person do to you if a chaos druid can force you to eat?

I'm by no means a high level, (main of cb96 and 2nd of cb43) however my defense and attack are higher than strength on both accounts, and I fail to see why someone would neglect the defense skill so much?

discuss?

Strenght overcomes attack and defence in such fights. The main reason of becoming a pure is that you have the advantage of having a low combat level, hence you will get opponents who are either pures or such as you. The good thing about this is that people like you are very easy to KO.

I see why they become pures, but i hate them so much.

I think it's more to do with the attitude, that they start bigging up their own fighting skill towards people like me, who care more for monster hunting and such than PvP.

also the points which i mentioned are the dowsides, which I can't see outweighing the upsides, but it still frustrates me.

so someone with 60 str with Iron armour would overcome someone with full dragon armour at 60 att/def? If that's possible, the game is broken. Strength shouldn't be able to do that.

Some with 60 att/def and dragon armour would absolutely own a person with only 60 str. The game's not broken.

okay, hate is a strong word.

I just think that pures are put into the stereotype of people that generally don't care for other people and hide behind the internet to be safe from the consequences of being a complete moron.

The limitations that presents just to be able to kill someone faster just makes more noticeable the narcissism these people have and that they actually would take that choice just to get one up on some unsuspecting rune miner.

I'ts also the sight of the pure which screams immature little kid to me. Someone in full iron with a rune scimitar is just the most disappointing sight, because you can tell their intentions.

I don't think they contribute in any way to MY game and MY experience, whereas I know that if i'm on a treasure trail or something in the wilderness or rune mining or something which requires me to enter their 'territory' without intention that someone will come along without giving a darn about my experience and just kill me to show off.

That's the attitude that I dislike a lot.

And how did you come up with that conclusion? What makes some kid that mines all day any less of a moron then a pker?

It's a game? Pking is a part of it for a reason? Don't like it then stay away.

Oh look, it's another skiller complaining about getting owned. It's the wild, wtf do you expect?

That's the attitude that I dislike a lot.

I dislike your attitude too. Very much.

Before you make a rant, at least present your arguments clearly and logically, because as it is right now, it just

screams immature little kid to me

cheers

People wouldn't continue to make pures if they weren't effective. Yes, they need food at chaos druids, but.... They choose to balance their attack and defensive powers so that they can do MORE damage in a SINGLE fight, whereas people with more defense (assuming the same combat level) are focused on taking LESS damage over the course of MULTIPLE fights. Hence why, with some defense, you don't need food at chaos druids.

As for, say, getting killed whilst rune mining in the wilde... that is intentional. It's part of the game. If getting PK'ed while mining rune in the wilde wasn't part of the game, the rune ore would be in the mining guild.

Personally, the thing I love the most about pures is the countless, meaningless arguments they have with each other. Meaningless, because pure will often argue about who's better in combat, or who has the better main, but it seems like it's rare that they both head to the dual arena or pull out their mains.

Frankly though, I've reached the combat level where pures aren't my level anymore. If something gets to level 127, it probably isn't a pure >.<

if your issue with pures is their attitudes, not all pures are like that.

if you think theyre not approaching the game the "right way", isnt that just your opinion?

some people like to only train certain skills, or dont see being more balanced in combat as challenging.

I don't think they contribute in any way to MY game and MY experience

yeah, theyre contributing to their game and their experience. most people are.

you sound just as uptight as the stereotyped pures youre ranting about.

its a game, stop worrying and go have fun already.

This. You're seriously arguing about how other people choose to play the game, which most likely won't affect you at all?

Hmmm an iron scimitar you say? Doesn't sound very effective tbh :P. But what do I know of f2p pvp.

In p2p I know such builds are highly effective (using an obsidian maul). However a certain tifer has the perfect account to deal with them (I am referring of course to 999134, look up his blog).

I would advise you to get over it (rude as it sounds). And don't go where pures go e.g. pvp/bh worlds, duel arena or something.

The thing that annoys me about *some* pures is how judgemental they can be about your character and treat you like an idiot because you train your skills in a certain way. I have been asked on multiple occasions why my strength level sucks (my stats are att 92/ str 90 / 76). Ok, I'll admit, it isn't exactly the best in the world but it suits how I play. However, if anything sucks it's my defence level!

The other thing that annoys me is how they tend to act as if they are entitled to everything because of the way their account is made. Taking the druids example - you should be helping them out with food etc to help them deal with their lower defence. Overwise you just get flamed and the ignore list takes over...

Thankfully I don't run into pures too much but normally when I play on my lower leveled account on f2p the conversation always sways towards my main.

I suppose this thread goes to show that it isn't just pures that act like this though - it's the whole of RS!

tbqh i don't see how i'm in the wrong if they act the way they do.

THEY choose to make an account with the handicap, and i'm the one venting at how annoying and disrespectful thye can be to someone who is just trying to play the game.

Earlier on a minotaurs task, I was there about an hour, and over the hour, 3 or 4 pures came, out of the 5 people i saw.

My range is my preferred stat, but when I'm combat level 44 and I get flamed for ONLY having green Dhide.(40+ range) (it's 47) I was training other stats. I'm not sure if they expect everyone with combat 44 to have a stat above 60 or something but i think it's ridiculous that they shoose to make their account in such a way. I'm not trying to tell them HOW to PLAY, just venting at HOW they ACT. if i could, i'd remove them all, but this isnt my game, and i can't do that so i have to repect them and that's difficult when i'm constantly being harassed over my unusually high def stat and unusually low range and strength for my combat level.

Thats all, Ciao

Fight them in a death match. Own them with your armour.

Also, not all pures are like you describe. Many I've met are very relaxed and cool.

tell me why my account is failed? because someone with an extreme unbalance of combat skills would beat me if i werent wearing armour, despite me being 30 levels higher?

You'd sound like a pure if you didnt have your sig as it is.

i understand runescape isn't a communist society, but they act differently to everyone else, skiller or monster hunter or quester alike. So i'm treating them differently.

I remember being made fun of a lot for my Strength level, by people with half my total level. I don't have a problem with pures, but people who think Strength is the most important aspect of Runescape are laughable.

The problem with pures is when they walk by and I am just training my str or att or def or anything in my rune or addy armour. They start saying def noob. Etc. I agree there are many nice pures. But most of them should change their attitude towards other players.

How does 20 minutes turn into 2.5 hours? Was your math perhaps magical math?
