With the revival of the wilderness as it used to be, I can't see how pking will be profitable any more for me. The most that i'll kill anyone for is around ~600k per kill, whereas in the current wildy I can get ancients and vls's off people risking only 76k. I used to pk for profit and fun, but I think the profit had a lot to do with me enjoying it. Now all I will be getting is a tonne of rune sets and some neit helms..

 

So, is anyone who pks at edge/fights meleers risking only rune going to stop pking as well?

Smite is your friend. You can easily get whip loots or better because people simply don't bother to pay enough attention to their prayer, get a few nice hits and they will concentrate more on HP than prayer.

 

Good news is pures will be back in their place and not so cocky, losing cash constantly and never getting nice loots.

I pked a lot pre-current wildy and I only ever got 2 whips. People aren't that stupid. I can't see myself depending on someone else's stupidity for profit.

As someone who's only PvP'd a little under the current system, and in FtP to boot - it won't affect me. If anything, the return of the 'old' wilderness will benefit pures pking in FtP even more.

I PKed a lot back then too. I got more than 10 whip loots + multiple dharok helms on a main account, so it can be done.

Low leveled pking = more profitable usually. BUT you can still make good profit, just as in old wild. Idk what it is with people thinking runescape's going to go through a massive change, it's gonna be the same way it used to be, so yes there will be profit.

Pking won't give a net profit anymore. But if you like high-risking pkers then you can make bank instead of the other person only losing.

It definately cuts down on the profit part. I for one can manage a profit with even a K/D ratio < 1. But i'm usually very careless, and don't run very often because I know I'll make it all back eventually.

 

Guess I gotta change my style and adapt, but I guess this separates the average PKer from the really good ones.

You do realise that it's not going to go back to 2006. We won't be using torsos and whips. Korasis, chaotics, etc are all still going to be here. All that changes is the loot.

I don't see how PK'ing will be much more or less profitable than it was back in the day. Remember, this time around you actually get cash for non-tradeable items, which will help a bit. Even if people stop using said items, there'll be better profit. Rune plate instead of torso is an extra 70k or so, which at least helps to cover the costs of pots/sharks.

 

I agree that the current status of PK'ing is probably more profitable for a lot of people. I've only just started playing again so I've not got much experience, but back on my main I only ever got 1 kill, and got an ancient statuette. Still, people are risking more now and drags at least should still be good. I don't see why edge shouldn't be profitable either.

As you mentioned with the use now of Korasi and other non-tradeable weapons, we have knowledge from Jagex that these will be transformed into cash upon death for the victorious PKer, so we could be seeing anywhere up to a 1m drop in cash I predict alongside pots, armour, D boots etc. :)

A 300 Venge + 500 korasi spec is hard to avoid. Dying is inevitable

You know how the runescape hit system works? It's luck. There is no "top of the class", only people who manage to get lucky with their hits. There is nothing new to adapt to apart from the loot which now will make pking for profit more of a grind than anything.

Dunno what guidesforscapers is talking about, so glad to see the return of the wilderness today...tried out staking made an easy 6m or so...went pking, got dragon claws and whip loot constant kills. Awesome that its back, alot better than not getting any loot in bh because my total level/combat level was low: silly.

 

Personally, i think its better without the random statue drops, it added far too much money into rs and its always nice to see your opponent wearing an item and kill them for that item.

I agree I don't like how its not as profitable anymore, but if you think about it. you don't have to wait for EP to go up now. Saves lots of time allowing for your profit to catch up. How many times have you waited 2 hours for 100 ep and gotten like 600k loot? Exactly... It gets annoying. Either way I haven't pked yet so this is all my speculation.

It's less luck profit based and more consistent on how and who you kill.

I absolutely hated bh it sucked more than i can describe, same with the 76kers.

The whole ep system was screwy, oh i have 100 ep i should get a good loot now --- what? BS. i want my drops to be based on my skill as a pker not some dumb randomization you have high ep number drop.

 

and however you look at it 76king was just hedging the system.
