Melee gear, if you have a unicorn you can forget waterskins, cannon if possible.

The description makes it sound horribly not fun.

You have to initiate combat by inspecting each one and then wait to complete a emote before you can even begin targeting it.

It has a special attack which probably isn't too hard to avoid but will make afk training a lot harder.

Sounds like something that would be canceled pretty often.

I just use normal melee gear+a unicorn. Bunyip+EEE works too.

DK drops (solo/LS): 66 hatchets, 14 archer rings, 13 berserker rings, 17 warrior rings, 12 seerculls, 13 mud staves, 7 seers rings

QBD drops: 1 kite, 2 visages, 4 dragonbone kits, 3 effigies, lots of crossbow parts

CR vs. CLS threads always turn into discussions about penis size.
...
It's not called a Compensation Longsword for nothing.

I've sent a 12k combat mission to have Aiel assassinated (poor bastard isn't even Pincers-tier difficulty).

I always used a water tiara there, but I never saw other people doing that.

They drop pantsloads of super defs that I usually just drank on the spot. The rest of the loot is, for the most part, equally unimpressive.

I actually don't do them anymore because there fairly mediocre drops, charms and effigies. They aren't bad though. Also, litterbug you haven't posted anything constructive at all. Go back to GD and Rants.

I'm in the middle of a desert strykewyrm task myself.

Pros)

Someone before said they have mediocre drops, but that's entirely subjective, I've gotten over 200k worth of potato cacti alone already and I still have just over 70 left off a task of 130ish.

They drop elite clue scrolls

They drop magic tree seeds

Cons)

Usual strykewyrm stuff, like their "special" attack and having to call each one up

Slow

Waterskins take up a bit of inventory space

Filling waterskins isn't a huge deal actually because they drop 2 full waterskins fairly often, and you could just use humidify, and if you have a healing familiar and EE/SGS you probably won't need food.

Basically, like jungle wyrms, they're pretty slow but I do them anyway because before the sight/hex were valuable enough, and now they drop elite clues, but I also don't care too much about my slayer xp/h

Lagatag.png

Do them.

They aren't bad at all, decent amounts of Pure Essence, Potato Cacti, and other nice stackable drops.

Plus elites are fun.

I don't see why everyone is fighting, the fact is there are WORSE tasks than deserts and there are obviously BETTER tasks too. But I can say from my experience of Slayer that these are generally a nice, solid, decent task for effigies, speed, and money.

It is also quite easy to cannon them as well, and whilst they aren't multi, the cannon speeds tasks up a bit at not much extra cost.

And you can tank the desert effect, or I suppose you can pick up the waterskins that they drop and just use them.

Their drops aren't anything special and the xp isn't all that great, I blocked them for those reasons and because I generally find them annoying. So in my opinion, no they aren't worth doing.

I cancel desert Strykes evertime.

So anoying to kill - drops are rubbish - Cant seim-AFK.

And elite clues can suck my nads, 8 done all less than 400k.

In my personal opinion they are a great task. Yes, they are not great xp, and you have to wear desert robes w/ waterskins or humidify, but the drops make up for that. I usually get 600k in drops per task (things like pure essence, potato cactus etc), and then you can also get Focus Sights from them which are 300k at the moment (although they were over 1 mil the last time I did a task).

Do them, use super set, bunyip, piety. Wear verac skirt, prossy top, fury. Take around 5 prayer potions per super set. Take a few waterskins and a knife if you want. You can cut the cactusses(?) around there to refill your waterskins but the wyrms also drop waterskins quite often. When you stand next to a cactus or rock they wont burry. Normally you profit from a task of strykewyrms. Goodluck.

I blocked these as they have very bad charm drops and I don't care for money at all. I did get an elite from the one task I did - it was rubbish.

A knife? I'd go for using the lunar spell humidify or wearing an Enchanted water tiara.

Super set and piety are rather unnecessary as these are rather weak, but I suppose it speeds things up some.. Although it might make picking up drops a problem. These creatures drop many things worth picking up, so I do wonder where you get your inventory space from. xD

To answer the original question; I'd definetly say this task is worth it. Not the best xp, but decent drops and unlike Quyneax I did get a few nice elites.

Besides, there's better alternatives as far s blocking goes.

You COULD use Humidify, but in my experience doing that task, you won't need it. The waterskin drops are enough to keep you safe most of the time, and tanking the desert isn't a hard thing to do given that you have EEE/healing familiar.

Cannon makes this even easier.

Personally I would do the task. There are better things to cancel, although these are pretty borderline. See if you like um, if not, cancel next time.

> Enchanted water tiara means giving up full slayer helmet.

> That a monster is weak has nothing to do with the usage of pots/prayer. Only spawn rate and life point total (if very low) are relevant to this.

Normal gear, using bunyip(or yak if you're too lazy to bank) with turmoil and soul split.

Set up a cannon north or south and start killing. Goes quite fast but it's a stupid task with all that investigation.

Do them if you feel like them, if not, just cancel.

He's right though. They are very annoying to kill and drops are average.

You even said yourself that you never had this task before, and mentioned nothing about jungle strykes, why are you hating on him for trying to help?

Elite clues are nice though.
