Basic/Welfare Nex Gear...?

Featured Replies

since you are using bad armor, you will die a lot

so you should use bad armor to minimize your losses from all the deaths you have

but OT: thread hijack

which is better for 6 man teams - void + acp + deflector or max ranged attack bonus

What possible reason could there be for black dhide being better?

He might be thinking because black hide gives more range attack.

Although the increase in mage defense is much more important. Heck, even Karils is welfare at nex.

Semi-Hijack, although still somewhat relevant to the OT:

I don't have enough (nor an interest) to re-buy claws. I'm only interested in doing a Nex a few hours a week at most, and thus don't want to pour any remaining cash I have left into "optimum Nex gear". Arma + RcB should work fine for what I'm trying to accomplish.

What would the the best "welfare" spec weapon to use that has a low cost/risk?

Nex is not a casual boss. You need a ccbow and you need claws. If you don't want to get those, do a different boss.

Thank you for your opinion on what the "required" items to use are, however that was not my question. Neither of those items are required to deal damage to Nex, so neither are "mandatory to have" aside from teams that have requirements for them.

I'm planning on doing LS masses (without any LSP) just for fun, so "mandatory item choices" are irrelevant.

I am asking what is the best "welfare" special weapon to use is. Would a DDS be ideal for helping kill the mages faster, or is it simply just best to use a EEE since nother special will be of very much use?

Please keep the "Risk 40M+ or don't kill it" mindset out of this thread please?

dat censorship

you should use eee for special because then you can leech off your teammate's effort for longer

If it's an LS mass, everyone there is a leech :P

And a target for the blood phase I might add.

It isn't leeching if the rest of your team is doing the same thing (in other words....not killing nex)

To be serious Katori, a dds could only really be used on the 4 mages, it wouldn't hit nex, it's just to inaccurate. The only other high hitting spec I can think of that might work is the D hally, but that might just be too slow to get through the phase.

A rune c bow is fine.

Don't do "masses" btw, they do not work there.

if you dont have claws, then bring an excalibur.

Claws barely do enough damage in their spec to justify weapon switching.

Dragon halberd, dragon claws, korasi sword, etc.

Most definitely will not hit for enough damage or with enough accuracy to do more damage than ranging with ruby bolts (e) and a high range bonus, or void with diamond.

Green is hardly wrong.

No spec weapon is better than a bad spec weapons at nex due to her obscene defense.

PS your attitude sucks

Naaxi.png

Eh, I survive without a ccb (although every other piece of gear/relevant stat is maxed).

But really - don't even think about trio. Most efficient teams are 6-15 people. 15 is large, but a well coordinated team will 1 hit the first form with claws which really helps make the kills go nicely.

4-6 man teams could be the future though with quick banking using ceremonial.

PS your attitude sucks

I hope you didn't mean me  If you did, then I'm sorry. All I did was ask if blue or red was better and the only answer I got was "use green or GTFO".

Anyways, thank you for the posts Grimey and Sir. It was just a simple question, and your information was all I was really looking for.

GREEN IS THE BEST COLOR.

No but seriously there's a good reason why I said what I said: if everybody in your team did what you plan to do, the boss would never die. She'd heal more than you guys hit with multitarget blood spells and you'd be stuck there forever. You will be leaching.

Nex is THE boss. Best drops, most hard-to-kill, most HP, etc.

If you have acquired the OVLs and the Rigours to even contemplate killing her, then you should be using the best gear...

I would hazard a guess and say I'd rather you got a CCB, than getting cash for claws, but I don't know what teams are asking for atm.

You should bring Dragon Mace special.

It hits much harder than hack Dragon Claws.

You should pray turmoil on it. It allows me to nex sweep.

Would have been better if you said dragon longsword of battle axe.

Looking at the screenshot thread, some of you same people are saying that you can get away with Void-Deflector and ACP/Karil's...

Why didn't you guys just say so? <_< That's actually do-able for me.

EDIT

I actually posted a response a few days ago but it didn't go through or something.

Nex is really the only thing left that I want to do in RS aside from the quests that come out occasionally, so don't tell me to "just do another boss".

2dgucz6.png

You're telling me 3 people with OVL and max ranged/def/hp and yaks can't trio in black dhide and rcb over karils and ccb or w/e?

D'hide is only marginally weaker than Karils in magic defense, which doesn't seem to make much of an effect. I wouldn't recommend either for a 3-man though.

Three RCBs don't have the damage output you need in a trio. You just don't have enough accuracy, and Nex will outheal you. If you were going to use Vesta Longswords, or Chaotic Maul + Dragon Claws, you might be able to get away with RCB. Also, at the minimum you would want Divine, Elysian, or EEKS for a trio.

Void / Deflector is a bad idea for 3-man. You're going to be torn apart by Nex that way - you want to be using Void + Divine or Void + Elysian (and be good at dodging attacks), or possibly Void + Deflector + Pernix Top.

If you insist on doing it with three people, either do Void + Divine with a variety of Chaotics (Crossbow, Rapier at the minimum. Possibly Maul.) Or, full Armadyl + CCB + EEKS/Elysian/Spectral/Divine.

I'm rethinking my position on the 3-man thing, since I believe my friends can actually get the untradeables reqs - Rigour, Void-Deflector, CCB - if we can integrate into the perm teams made up on these forums!!

It's just that none of us can afford a what, 500/1000m shield...

2dgucz6.png

You can get away with not using a divine/ely, using EEKS/spectral/deflector as available.

Wait, so is Rigour required? Not trying to cut corners but just having to get the CCB is going to take me a while.

2dgucz6.png

Nothing is required for nex except 70 agil hp str and range.

I wouldn't take anyone with ccbow and rigor.

Wait, so is Rigour required? Not trying to cut corners but just having to get the CCB is going to take me a while.

I don't see it as a "minimum requirement" kind of thing.

Different teams have different preferences.

How low you can go before you tick off your teammates.

With enough skill, there's nothing stopping someone from getting nex kills with black dhide rune cbow and eagle eye.

I'm still not going to take you into a team. Imbalance brings up the annoying problem of how much weight each player is carrying. Too much drama potential too.

I prefer to find teams with around my own stats/gear.

not many welfare nexers exist though. And most of them probably suck.
