I'm curious why everyone's convinced that there's a boss at the end of the series, when it's a series that's strictly no combat, all puzzling. Sticking on combat at the end would just be weird and inconsistent.

 

Who says a boss battle HAS to be combat based?

Many other games have boss battles that are purely down to other skills etc.

 

It could easily be a non-combat puzzle based boss monster; eg if it is the apprentice in his Da Vi type body in a room with a soul machine we could have to sneak through and work the soul machine to restore his soul. Or in a death room use the machines death energy machine to kill him.

That'd be a pretty cool way to end the series. More quest moral decisions please. :thumbup:

 

Anyways, I finished the quest, and I guess I overestimated its difficulty, because it was actually fairly easy and enjoyable to me.

I found the chaos puzzle extremely funny for some reason.

 

And the new lobby looks...interesting? Never did like this new "theme" they've adopted..guess I'll learn to live with it after a while.

I don't think players are ever going to be satisfied with the puzzle difficulty in this quest series. EW3 was too hard, EW4 too easy, yadda yadda.

 

Personally I love the whole series, and can't wait for the next and the conclusion eventually. Plus the armor doesn't look half bad. Who cares about its stats?

People moan due to the difficulty in getting it as ppl suck at puzzles.

But ages ago jagex did say itd have a set effect in the end.

Plus when you consider the armours tie to runecrafting due to its very nature we are only at lvl 35 gear so far really with more possible versions going right up to 77 atleast (assuming this series doesnt give soul altar like many suspect)

I hate it when Jagex add cliffhangers that make me look forward to the next part of a quest. :P

Well at least it was a billion times easier than part 3.... Did them both today and I was very happy when the cosmic puzzle took all of 10 minutes to complete. The chaos puzzle is kind of a pain just because it takes a good chunk of time to move the boxes around the conveyor belt.

 

Now if only jagex wasn't anti-legs and decided to complete the cosmic set with platelegs. <_<

I made myself a set of chaos armor, and coupled with a v skirt, some carefully timed brews, and piety, I managed to convince half the duel arena that I had a set of full chaotic. All in all it was a nice update, I guess.

I'd actually like to see what happens next in the series, seeing as the next runes are, iirc, nature, astral, and law. It'd be interesting if they tie in the astral ones with the lunar spells....maybe make their spells work twice as effective while wearing the armor?

Really liked the puzzles this time, thought the rewards would be higher leveled tho.

Only 1 more mage def on the chaos shield over the body shield <_<.

 

the idea behind elemental armour is dumb really, its a way for melee warriors to get mage defence.

last thing melee needs is more overpoweredness.

my point, elemental armour was a good idea at the time, now its just continuing the reward pattern.

Yeah, maybe we might find an adventurer stupid enough to do all the work for us. Wait... FUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

 

That made me lol.

To be fair, the EW3 puzzle wasn't exactly hard, it just had a fail of control placement; if the switches had all been located on some kind of control board, similar to the Cosmic machine controls, it would have been a lot simpler. Putting the control levers around the periphery of the room is where the puzzle failed.

That being said, I'm glad these machines were much easier to use. It took me a bit of experimenting and trial and error, but once I figured out the controls, it was a cinch. Like someone before said, the worst part was moving the Chaos belts around to get the right box in the CPU.

btw, anyone else get the "CPU" and "RAM" jokes?

Nice quest. It ended very abrubtly, though. Too bad, I ws just getting in the mood for the next machines.

 

At first, I was annoyed to be left in the dark for both machines, and it took me a while to figure out the controls (cosmic control thingt had clickable knobs to contol the pillars, DOH). Some good old trial and error questing, without the penalty of doing something wrong (like in EW3) was something I liked doing.

Oh god yes. That's something that should always be avoided. Minor inconveniences > Infinite rage.

@zammyninja: elemental armor is overpowered? God, and to think, I was gonna go pvm, pvp, and generally do all my melee in barrows armor. Thanks for giving me the heads up...

i meant that it has low stats as to not make it over powered, and is infact underpowered now.

Did the quest yesterday, easily the nicest EW quest so far. The puzzles were enjoyable and the lore is getting interesting. Too bad it's another few years before the quest line is completed.

Very nice quest with more realistic puzzles. Primed bars are still a pain to make and should have an automation of your character by now - Place bar and it does it for you..even jump-cut would be nice to skip process. This wouldnt matter so much if there was a point in the armour being powerful rather than cosmetic.

 

I think they could do with some other reward too tbh as the gear for the most part is just cosmetic besides as limited gear for wyverns.. even then it dont matter that much. Just give some give extra xp or something for all the effort of making primed bars itself..

 

First puzzle was quality. Second more annoying for being slow.

It would be a good point if it wasn't for the small fact:

There is already an astral door in the corridor and as seen in the chaos puzzle this guy knows about astral runes.

 

Plus if we assume a full set to come we have:

Legs, Ring, Amulet, Weapon, Cape.

Runes remianing:

Astral, Nature, Law, Death, Blood

 

5 items to set, 5 runes left.

What about the Soul element?

Also, would it be a bit odd for them to fit in an elemental weapon? Seeing that so far it's been all about magic and summoning defence only.

Unless they make a death weapon, which could somewhat work.
