stevepole
Now that the season is over, I have to say I'm pretty content with where it ended. I don't know if I really want to wait another ten episodes for another small but significant evolution of the dragons. I can only imagine that next season, they'll actually grow in size, then maybe in the fourth season, they'll actually get a boat. Fifth season, will be the ride over, and then the sixth all hell breaks loss. At least that's my interpretation at the rate that story line is going. The zombies at the end were a bit weird, I don't really know what to think of them, but I would think they'd be be a bit more aware and be able to notice Sam hiding behind that rock. The zombies at the end were a bit weird, I don't really know what to think of them, but I would think they'd be be a bit more aware and be able to notice Sam hiding behind that rock.I think that this reason is why they can afford to focus on Dany a lot less for at least the next season. I feel like her current arc is nice and complete for the moment, and they can definitely use the time to focus more on Westeros characters. The House of the Undying scenes were great, especially the one with Drogo. It's crazy how much expression can be felt through a made-up language. :v Theon and Stannis were probably my favourite characters in S2, and I hope their actors get the recognition they deserve. As for the ending, it kinda looked to me like the leader took a glance at Sam and was just like 'hah, not worth it'. Seeing the white walker in full profile was great too, I really like the look they went with for them. Now the wait for Season 3 begins. sleep like dead men wake up like dead men
Gandorf61
Just had a chance to watch the season finale and I have to say I felt Blackwater was a lot more climatic so this felt a bit off, except maybe the last scene. The White Walker and wights looked absolutely terrifying. Pyramid Plunder Guide Tip.it Forum Rules Adventurer's LogThanks to Cowboy14 for the awesome sig! Cheat
I loved the look of the white walker better than I had imagined one. I feel that Dani's storyline is a lot less interesting than it was last season and indeed than it is in the books.. But what the heck time to wait for season 3 now - as I've said before book 3 = the best book therefore hopefully we will have an awesome season ahead of us. It's great to see something like this getting so much recognition as well hopefully means they'll see it through to the end I literally hated HBO/BBC when they cancelled Rome after 2 seasons instead of its intended 6 - its still my favourite ever HBO production. Kimberly
At first I thought the Walker on the horse was [hide=Book Spoilers - I don't remember which, so don't look if you haven't read up to A Dance of Dragons]The same one will guide Bran. It saw/acknowledged Sam, but chose to ignore him. The horse was even deformed in the same manner as described in the book. But it didn't speak at all and when the camera panned out, you saw another on the horse, so I guess it might not have been him or they did away with that confusing character altogether.[/hide] Oh and confirming from the earlier discussion: in the book they did justify Robert's usurpation of the throne by making a vague connection through his mother's side to find a Targaryen ancestor, but it's heavily implied throughout the book that he won through might of arms and the fact that at the pinnacle of Aerys' madness, he was horrendous to all of the nobles beneath him. I do like how they handled the Qarth sequence in Dany's storyline opposed to the book. Simpler, cleaner. Re-enforces the notion of magic being tied to the Dragons, which was underplayed during the Wildfire sequences. Kind of weird that her hair didn't get burnt when the dragons breathed fire, bit of a weird oversight. But pretty good all around. The scene with Drogo was especially nice - pleased the book-nerd in me very much to see Dany's son. It might not have been the vision of him described in the book grown up, but I'll take it. Without Jon's inner monologue that we get in the books, I was worried on how they would handle the conflicting emotions he would face. They started off his relationship with the Wildlings very well. I love it. The only big gripe I really have with this season is how different Tyrion's tactics were in the Battle of Blackwater. It made the screen version's Tyrion seem a lot more haphazard, like he just scooped up on Cersei's leftovers and had no ingenuity of his own. Still, I liked it all the same. His speech, the confrontation with that knight, the after-effects of being completely bereft of power again. Very powerful stuff.

Jonanananas
Only a month to go, and the first trailer is out too! Who's pumped for season 3?
Nom
This might sound like a stupid hasty judgment but I thought the season 3 premiere was better than 80% of season 2. They got the pacing about as good as it can be and pacing was my main problem with last season. Having a character be present in a single two minute scene per episode is bad. Longer scenes with fewer characters = good. Also, I am so ready for Dany to do awesome shit now instead of the abortion that was Qarth. Book and show alike, Qarth sucked. Bring on Slaver's Bay. nine naked men
I really enjoyed it as well, the complaints I had were mostly superficial. I thought the change from the puppy-killing to baby-killing was unnecessary, and I really wish they'd kept Jon's line when Mance asks him whether he should kill him or curse him for killing Halfhand. The scene between Tywin and Tyrion was brutal too, goddamn. I watched it with some friends who were pretty big fans of Tywin in Season 2 due to his interactions with Arya and they flipped out, haha. sleep like dead men wake up like dead men
Nom
Was that the thing about being a bastard? If I remember right that came about after some of Mance's backstory was revealed, which they obviously didn't have time to do... maybe it will come up later and we'd still get the line. I love to hate Tywin. Charles Dance is terrifying. TERRIFYING.
nine naked men
Nah, if it would be anywhere it would be in this episode, Jon says (paraphrased) "You should thank me for killing an enemy, and curse me for killing a friend." The dialogue changed a bit in the TV show, Mance called Halfhand a brother instead of a friend. Aside from that, I really like the actor they picked for Mance. sleep like dead men wake up like dead men

Cheat
Ciaran Hinds is surprisingly good as Mance though nothing like he was as Caesar in Rome.
