Jiblix and Ken Genosis Demodded Over Speaking Out

Featured Replies

I don't think you know what irony is. RiotGames won't win "using Jagex's own tactics" against them, but will win simply because a large portion of the Runescape fanbase isn't voting for Runescape this year and is, in fact, voting for other games in protest. The Runescape fanbase has been talking about voting against Runescape in the GJA long before RiotGames started to advertise voting in the GJA to their playerbase (mid-August vs. early/mid-October). Do you really not understand this, or are you trying to become the new Pal?

And, really, whoever send that message is an idiot. (S)he kind of misses the point of voting against Jagex.

Why do you think I find this funny?

And by Irony, I repeat yet again, it would be funny if LoL wins because they decided to announce the award like runescape did on previous years, while LoL didn't. I don't care where most voters come from, just pointing out how that would be funny if it happens. I know people are not voting for runescape, I didn't either, I voted for LoL actually. RuneScape won last 2 years because they advertised it while the rest of the games didn't, now we got LoL doing the same thing, with a bigger playerbase (that alone is enough to win the award as most people who play LoL and are now voting/voted already didn't even know of the award to start with), what do you think is going to happen? (add on top of that the people who play rs and are voting against it). See what I mean?

Don't take so much credit on rs people voting against jagex as if it was crucial, runescape actual playerbase is very small compared to LoL. All they had to do is announce it so people get to know the award, to win it, and they did already, rs players voting againt rs are just the cherry on the top.

What the...? Did you not read a damn thing I typed out? Runescape was not going to win this year PERIOD, and it not winning has little to do with LoL advertising people to vote for them. Runescape was not going to win because the Runescape playerbase as a whole wasn't going to vote for Runescape as the best free game and, indeed, had been voting against Runescape long before the LoL playerbase began voting for LoL. If you don't get any votes, you're not going to win. You're here trying to make it seem as if Runescape isn't going to win because RG mobilized their fanbase and ran some kind of voting campaign to "upset" Runescape or whatever. That has nothing to do with anything. Furthermore, you have very little proof that in a straight vote between Runescape and LoL's where both player bases are satisfied with their respective games that LoL's would win. Using stuff such as FB, Twitter and YT as an approximate guage of how each would do is faulty. I'd be willing to bet that if WoW was put into the category for best F2P game (since it is now up to a certain level) that it would win, even though LoL's has more followers on FB than does WoW (can't speak about the other two).

I know that you and your buddy Pal are on some kind of anti-Runescape/anti-Jagex crusade, but really. Try harder.

I love runescape actually, been playing since 2001 thank you very much <3 And who is pal? So you have your own version of why runescape will not win this year, I have mine, move the hell on? OMG HOW DARE HE HAVE HIS OWN OPINION, BLASPHEMY! lol really...

You're getting mad over nothing, I actually just read the first and last 2 lines tbh.

And try harder doing what? We are just laughing at this whole deal lmao, as ll0rt said, I couldn't give a [bleep] about who wins, this is just way too funny to miss, wether we like runescape or not. With that being said, I better stop arguing with walls, at the end of the day, we all are going to laugh at this once the official announcement is made, so don't see the point of arguing. Peace out

Fanboys will be fanboys...

Anyways, apparently golden joysticks got a "record" 2 mil votes this year...this can only be good news I think. Results on the 29th.

I fail to see what Jagex not winning is actually going to "prove" or achieve. Another game wins, what changes?

So, Kaida is the real version of every fictional science-badass? That explains a lot, actually...

Though it may well change nothing in reality, if Jagex were to lose this award (which they won, I believe, in 2009 and 10), it would be a reflection of the RS Zeitgeist at least, and it would be pessimism not to hope for some form of change in the event Jagex fail to get a third Joystick.

Honestly - what's going to change, Crocefisso? Nothing, nothing at all. Because the award is rather pointless. Something I had never heard of until Jagex posted about it three years ago, and somehting that's never spoken about after the event.

Nothing will change.

There is nothing to lose in being nominated for the GJA.

You win - props, a trophy and something to add to the marketing of the game (as well as the marketing recieved just by being nominated)

You lose - you still get that publicity.

win/win tbh. Nothing will change, deal with it.

I voted for LoL because my roommate got me into it and I've been playing it more than RS recently.

I still consider Runescape to be my main game, but the lack of "high" level content, the bots, and the annoying marketing gimmicks that Jagex is coming out with are annoying to me.

Exactly.

Kinda sad to see how many spiteful nerds decided to vote against Runescape even though they never played any of the other games on the list. Way to be grateful for the thousands of hours of enjoyment you've gotten out of Runescape. Sure, Jagex has been puking out more marketing gimmicks as of late, but that's NORMAL. Any company that wants to make money does this. I bet most, if not all, of the other games in the "free play" category have some crap they pull to rake in a few extra dollars.

GG jagex.

Hopefully jagex knows why they lost...and finally got our message.

The post under yours...Perfect for what you've just said, Chee.

I think the attitudes on here have become pathetic.

I know I legitimately voted for LoL because I enjoyed the free aspect of the game a lot more than the free aspect of RS. Frequent content updates that could be inevitably be accessed by free players, although either through random chance or a medium long grind beats out the however long F2P RS has gone with an actually decent content update.

If RS was instead entered as a paid subscription game, I would have voted for it over WoW because I don't like WoW as a game, even if Blizzard might be considered a better company.

GG jagex.

Hopefully jagex knows why they lost...and finally got our message.

They lost because more people voted for LoL (and WoT as well). Unless you want to make some superfluous claims without any empirical evidence to support your absurdity.

(Let me guess, this is a big win for Jiblix who single handedly took down the CORRUPT and EVIL corporation that is Jagex. While we're on this, can we have an "Occupy Varrock" week of protests?)

I nearly choked on my cup of tea.

Anyway, truth be told, they're right - this isn't going to change much of anything. If you wanted to send a clear message to Jagex, you would unsubscribe instead of just voting for some random game.

...Alright, the Elf City update lured me back to RS over a year ago.

I wonder how much of an outcome Jiblix actually had on the result.

It might have had an effect on us, the RS community at large. But in the grand scheme of the awards and where they placed?

Practically nothing.

I didn't vote for RS simply because of this:

The other marketing is annoying too but that's what really got me.

I don't mind advertising but not in the actual game....

The in-game advertising isn't so bad. The Gnomecopter was nothing but a big membership benefits ad, and that was lots of fun.

^ I loved Gnomecopters.

Yeah, because an ingame popup is comparable to an optional, fun expository trip. Get your comparisons right.

It was only optional if you didn't want the level 3 Explorer's Ring. I'll admit it's not a perfect comparison, but in-game advertising is in-game advertising. I'd rather they didn't do it at all, but memberships are how they generate revenue so I can understand why they do it.

It's not the advertising that gets me, it's the wording of the particular advertisement.

LoL deserved that award, I'm glad they won it.

What would be cool is if Drakan and his minions kill all the sig heroes in the quest except Raptor who is wrecking. You and him team up and cave in some vampyre heads. He becomes a total bro in future quests and in a GM quest he receives a fatal injury and his last dying words to you are "Brofist, mang"

This voting now comes down to which company can offer the best incentives to its customers.

If Jagex offered Double XP for a weekend if they won, I'd almost guarantee they'd secure number 1.

Just like LoL offered 10 free IP thingy-ma-bobs and WoT offered 5X Xp, Jagex didn't actually offer anything but the possibility (it was never confirmed) of an item.

Come now, don't be bitter.

With the current state of rs and 2mil plus votes cast, no amount incentive would've gave rs the win.

Mind you, jagex asked it players to vote a whole month earlier than lol. And I don't think the tanks game that also beat rs offered anything.
