Powerfrog
Well i hear that mouse keys are allowed and i wonder just where the line between a mousekey and a macro lies. I can hold spacebar and this mousekey setup will clean a full inventory of herbs in seconds (literally 2-3 seconds) letting me do well over 10k an hour. Is this against the rules? Where does it state i can or can't do this?
Noxx
What you are referring to is a script, not mouskeys.
Octarine
The rule jagex seem to go on is one input = one output to the game is legal. So holding the spacebar down probably isn't allowed for a full inventory of herbs, but alternating between keys to nudge your mouse down like with regular mousekeys is. Existent
What you are referring to is a script, not mouskeys.1 input = 1 output is the one way it is legal. The only exception to this is the + key which is a double click. What you explained is completely against the rules and would probably get you banned pretty quick. If you can't do it with the mousekeys that are built into the computer, it's most likely against the rules.
Powerfrog
Ok, thanks for all the replies guys, i only did it for about half an hour anyway. To be honest that's a really stupid policy though. They allow us to mindlessly mash one button, but not to do the same thing but more conveniently? But continually mashing 1 button achieves nothing in game you have to move AND click.Even to clean an inventory of herbs you need 1 input to click and 1 to move the mouse Operation Gold Sparkles :: Chompy Kills :: Full Profound :: Champions :: Barbarian Notes :: Champions Tackle Box :: MA RewardsDragonkin Journals :: Ports Stories :: Elder Chronicles :: Boss Slayer :: Penance King :: Kal'gerion Titles :: Gold Statue

Powerfrog
it's against the rules but they wont catch youI admit i giggled when someone said 'you'll probably be banned pretty quickly' like does he even play the same game as me? But i don't want to risk it, as small as that risk may be. I appreciate the responses guys. And i wasn't aware a mousekey literally only clicked, i assumed it clicked and then automatically moved a certain distance, which is how people spam it to do things like drop fish. If it's just click the spacebar to do a click, that's pretty pointless, even from an efficiency point of view.
Sy_Accursed
Mousekeys basically act as arrows keys for the mouse that allow a single button press to generate a precise movement.Plus separate buttons to do actual clicks. It allows you to do stuff faster as it eliminates human error as you know pressing the button will do exactly what's needed. But yeah no click + move for 1 keystroke as that is 2 outputs for 1 input and thus (in its own small way) is a macro. Essentially if '1' is click and '2' is move mouse down, they'll spam 1-2-1-2-1-2-1-2-1, then '3' moves up, '4' moves right, then repeat the spamming of 1 and 2. It's faster than manually clicking and moving the mouse, but still legal as it follows the "one imput = one output" rule.

Still seems rather silly how we can type in binary instead of actually playing the game, i don't see how that's any different from botting other than the extremity of it. Zaaps1
jagex really doesnt have any way of knowing if you are using an illegal mousekey script or not, unless you seriously over-do it for an extended period of time (I'm talking about using your script for hours). if you slowed down the mouse speed jagex likely wouldn't be able to detect you through any means. hypothetically, of course, your script is "illegal". to make it legal, alternate between the spacebar and another button, say Shift. Have the spacebar click the space, and have shift move to the next unclean herb (you could use loops and such to make this more efficient), and just spam click shift and space. perfectly legal. i think using the mouse wheel is legal as well. ~It's Super Effective! GlowinRedM
i think using the mouse wheel is legal as well. i forget who but i remember someone (possible a friend) who had each "click" of the mousewheel do an action (cleaning herbs) and was getting ridiculous speeds of cleaning the herbs. since 1 "click" = 1 computer input then it should still follow the 1 input = 1 output rule? Powerfrog
My main worry was if jagex would detect that i'm doing it far faster than humanly possible. If i were to only get the same speed as regular clicking, i wouldn't bother with it. I know they technically CAN detect it very easy as every action is timestamped, but the question is if they will actually look for it and do something about it. I pay them money every month, after all.
