I really like the job that you have done :) should have taken a lot of work. Although there are some things to improve.

First thing which I really think needs to be done is to make it more clear. For example the lines connect to each other but as there are that many lines that it gets difficult to follow. (Also I think that the arrows are the wrong way around but that could just be me). I think an easy fix to this would be to add different colours. You could make those colours specific to story lines (for example the mournings end story line). You could also make the lines more straight and try to not cross the lines that much (would cost a lot of work though).

What also makes it messy are that some quest need one stand-alone quest, which you could fix by putting stand alone quest on the bottom, but this could also make it more messy. I like it that you have made rows of quest next to each other that makes it easier to look at :)

Well there'd be a load of restructuring to do to group quest series, time to get to work then!

I'm curious. Do you manually draw the lines and arrows? Or so you use a program for this? How long did this take you, and how troublesome was it to do?

I used a program called Graphviz to render it all, but the connections were all typed manually. It didn't help that the tip it quest guides have inconsistent requirement naming, especially when it game to "The" and capitalisation.

Very nice work. What we need is a program that could arrange all the bubbles for you to minimize the line crossing.

 

I agree with others that it would be very neat you see it organized more by series, accounting for the actual story line, so that we can see visually how the different story arcs interact.

I keep meaning to post on this thread and have finally got around to it.

 

All I want to say is how impressed I am with the effort that has gone into showing the quest links, I found it really interesting to look at and would love to see it portrayed in full computer graphics....anyone have the skills to do that? :wink:

What you've done already is pretty nifty so far! I didn't realize that so much was so intertwined...but what does it all mean? What quests have no storyline? Which quests are only requirement-based (i.e. have no real attachment to a storyline)?

 

I'm also interested in giving it a go with Graphviz + Python; I could use some formal experience in the latter when making graphs, anyway. Up to you if you want to share the data file, of course.
