Bonecrusher vs. Herbicide

Featured Replies

Which one would be better to get one I get the tokens? I would mostly use it on slayer, but also for other random combat training when I do it. Im really looking at which one would provide more xp in the more valuable skill. Im pretty sure the herbicide would give more xp, but prayer is the better skill to work on until i can get to the high end gear, which would be a while.

Both are a low priority. Buy a rapier then ring tiers/maul/arcane stream first.

Then you can buy either. I personally prefer herbicide, so I don't have to right click the pile when I'm on a specs task or something. Neither will provide a significant amount of xp.

If your mind is set on getting one I would buy the herbicide first. It provides a bonus to the exp you receive as opposed to the bonecrusher simply removing the item from the drop and delivering the same exp. Plus you could always bury the bones. ;)

Although if you're really looking for items to help with slayer, the rapier, maul, and arcane neck less are all a higher priority as stated before.

I have both and they ended up being utterly useless.

Bonecrusher is only..."useful" (and I use the term lightly) during Dark beast tasks, Herbicide on probably a few more tasks but not many.

As Hedge said, you're priority is the other cool stuff!

I really like bonecrusher because it eliminates bones from being on the floor and leaves you to more easily see what was dropped.

I find bonecrusher extremely useful; it can be used on pretty much any slayer task that drops bones (other than dragons if u want to sell/do pray training); makes the drop piles much tidier so you can spot the good drops faster and while burying xp is not a massive amount it does add up over time so it can help shave a few hundred k xp off prayer. Kinda like how urns are good to take along for demons etc. that drop ashes.

Herbicide is only really useful for spectres and a couple of other big herb droppers, but it does make life easier in spotting the herbs worth picking up and still benefiting from the rubbish ones.

I'd get bonecrusher before herbicide mostly because its useful on more tasks than herbicide.

Bonecruncher is also nice for Troll Invasion or w/e, herb drops tend to be a bit rarer than bones.

Herbicide was great for aberrant spectre tasks. It made it much easier to see what was worth picking up and what wasn't. It's not very useful in many other places, though. I bought a bonecrusher, but I never found it to be useful and I never actually end up using it. Granted I bought it after 99 slayer and 99 prayer, but the xp from anytime it would actually be used is negligible. Neither are really that useful, but the herbicide has a more (in my eyes) beneficial use.

I was considering getting a Bonecrusher, mostly because I train my melee stats at the Bandit camp and while not stellar I am sure the XP for all those bone would add up over the time. Should I get one?

I'd say it is worth getting with those reasons; however bonecrusher should really be fairly low down the to buy list of dg rewards. At the very least Chaotic Rapier should come first if you want to go about things efficiently, but at the end of the day it is your call.

Oh I know Rapier is a priority, I was just wondering if it was actually useful for that activity, still I am a long way from getting my rapier in any case (only 47 Dung)

Slayer-wise, Bonecrusher is for Dark Beasts, Suqahs, Terror Dogs, and Fire Giants. You can also use it for hunter, although that's not really very useful, and it's true that you can use it at Bandits, but they're not very good training anyway. Herbicide is for Abby Specs--handy there because it makes it much easier to manage drops when you're cannoning.

I use it for jack of trades trips (bonecrusher). If I remember to bring it, I'll take it along with other combat. It doesn't add up quickly, but I got it to clear the ground better. I think the only use of herbicide I'd find is spectres, so it clears all of the crap herbs. That way, if I see a herb, it's worth a decent amout.

Bonecrusher also allows you to complete dragon tasks for efficiently, as most of the time if you slay for speed you leave those bones on the ground to rot anyways.

I can't see herbicide being anything more than a convenience as you'd only burn herbs you wouldn't pick up to sell anyway.

if you plan to slay alot i imagine bone crusher would help alot even for monsters thar just drop normal bones.

Mathematically i think on average you are assigned 200 monsters per task? So having bone crusher would give 1k xp for that task!

While big bones would give 3k xp per task on average. On the quest for 99 slay, idk, thats a bit more or less than 1k task in total? Which would add up to 1m pray xp, and cost wise 1m pray xp is alot of money for the average player like me and you i presume :P

I did a bit ofmath, and 1m xp is approx 4k d bones using altar, if buy at 3k each that 12m, so yeah money saving wise i think you will see the results aftera while. Also it only takes up 1 space so it dosnt exactly hinder you while slaying or what not.

I think bone crusher should be obtaimed before herbicide since bone crusher can be used on almost everything, while herbicide is quite limited as to what task it would prove useful.

prayer is much more costly to raise then herblore as well, so bone crusher should be preferred in that sense as welll.
