January 31, 200620 yr So... Let's ask ourselves... What will the price be? Its obvious that this is food that will be used in the harder quests (Desert Treasure, Monkey Madness, and nearing end of the Plague series), as well as for food staking and pk-ing... Add to that Trips into the Fight Cave (for the fire cape) and KQ trips... It makes it a versatile food, but not something to train on... You can train on sharks if you like, but unless you fish and cook them yourself, you're not gonna waste 1k a pop on em... People use cheap and/or easy to get foods to train on, like lobsters and excess tuna, and perhaps even swordfish if you dont have the cook- or fish level for sharks... So who will buy this food? Most obviously: Deathmatching peeps, Pures and Questers Anyone else: unlikely, Stakers and Pk-ers still need to make a profit, not spending their winnings on food SRSLY? YA SRSLY The question on wether it is worth to massproduce this food: Yes, most definitly, The people who buy this type of food do not wish to spend their time making it... So what will the price be? Well as said before, Manta Ray is history, and the Sea Turtle even more so as it heals less, and is harder to get (pretty much worthless now)... Manta Ray is the same thing now as a Tuna-Tater ( :? ) so those prices will be equal to eachother... The prices of Sharks will remain unaffected, it will not go down, mainly because of their ease to get compared to the Tuna-Tater... I estimate the price of the Tuna-Tater will settle somewhere between 1.5 and 2k coins a piece... The price will definitly be lower then Manta Rays, because it is a lot less reliant on luck, and more so now that a lot more people can produce 22hp/bite foods... THEY WILL NOT REPLACE SHARKS because of all the trouble you have to go through, look: [*:jbhgv5ki]Farm, pick or buy potatoes [*:jbhgv5ki]Bake them [*:jbhgv5ki]Milk cows and churn to butter (or buy the milk or butter) [*:jbhgv5ki]Use the butter on the baked potatoes without eating them [*:jbhgv5ki]Farm or buy sweetcorn [*:jbhgv5ki]Cook the sweetcorn [*:jbhgv5ki]Use a bowl on cooked sweetcorn while having knife in invent [*:jbhgv5ki]Get cooked tuna (relativly easy, as its a by-produce) [*:jbhgv5ki]Use a bowl on cooked tuna while having knife in invent [*:jbhgv5ki]Use bowl of sweet corn on bowl of tuna [*:jbhgv5ki]Use bowl of tuna and corn on baked and buttered potato All the while, trying not to accidently eat any of the foods (all but butter in this process are edible, yes even raw spuds)... BOTTOMLINE: Tuna-Tater is a lot of trouble, they will not replace Sharks nor lower their price, but they WILL sell for around 1.5-2k to Stakers, Questers, some PK-ers, so it is definitly worth making them, because not a lot of people want to go through all the trouble... January 31, 200620 yr I don't really agree.. How many people have you seen actually sell manta rays or turtles? I've seen a couple pop up on the official forums, and people get laughed at for wanting more than 2k for it... I just think like you said, tuna-sweetcorn potato's are too much work, unless they give some mad exper, it's just not worth it for the amount of work... sharks only heal 2 less.. I don't think anything will really sell until we get a food that heals 25+ My first ever guide - for advanced farmers (~50+)http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=549364Now With Pictures!! - let me know what you think
January 31, 200620 yr Well you do receive experience for the butter, potato, sweetcorn, tuna, and then putting the whole shabang together. So I would imaging the total experience would be pretty decent.
January 31, 200620 yr Author Have you considered that a lot more people can now make this food? and that amongst these people, there are tonnes that cant make sharks yet? on top of that, the "only 2hp" argument doesnt fly... noone goes to a fight with 1 shark, its always atleast 20... so the difference at that point is as if you're carrying 2 extra sharks... ofc, they will not be sold like bow strings, or yew logs... they will probably change hands as often as say, treasure trail armor does... January 31, 200620 yr I think the price may be even a bit higher then your 1.5 - 2K estimate. IIRC manta rays were selling for an unstable ~7K per - the times they were actually being sold (which was rarely). Now manta rays requires high level fishing too, in opposite of the tuna potato, plus that we have an increased supply of 22hp-healing food, so we can't expect that price to stay steady.. I have no idea how hard / easy it is to make these thingies though (most interesting data I would love to know: amount of tuna potato you can make per / hour doing everything yourself), but I think an estimate price of ~3-4K wouldn't even be that unrealistic. If it would have never been an option to disable food in staking then the food would have been much more expensive though. The value of my bank at its height. Estimated value at the peak of the rares market: 250 billion+.Most likely the largest trade in RuneScape ever. Estimated value at the peak of the rares market: 70 billion+.
January 31, 200620 yr The issue right now is how much people are selling the parts to make the food for. If more people make those parts then those prices will fall and the price of the finished product will fall. Its like if essence dropped to 10 gp each then the price of all runes would drop a little probably.
January 31, 200620 yr Author TeeBeaun: its easy to get the parts (just let the sweetcorn grow while you get tuna), the annoying thing is the churning of milk to butter... and tbh, i dont see anyone selling butter just because of this update :) Duke Freedom: its hard to make em (see the procedure)... but with super compost and a scarecrow, and the level you need to cook it, you wont burn any spuds, tuna or sweetcorn, nor loose sweetcorn to disease (much)... so you dont loose much of raw materials, but its a lot of handling to do... as for time: you can let the sweetcorn grow when you harpoon swordfish and tuna... after that its just a matter of how fast and effective you can click Former Leader of The Tal Shiar Alliance - An Original Tip.it ClanMember of the Wilderness Guardians and Founder of the Silent GuardiansFounder of The Conclave - A Tip.it Clan institutionTip.it Times author (click for all my articles) - When I use the wrong reasons to make the right statement, argue the reason, not the statement.MSSW4 General - Did we kick your ass too?Check us out!==> No seriously, if you like FREE GP, XP and Dung tokens, as well as Community, Opportunity and above all FUN... <==CLICK IT!
February 1, 200620 yr It'll make swordfish fishing more popular too, people'll bother taking their tuna to the bank. Its's a bit of hassle to make, but 22hp healing is pretty good. Uggy Kebabs are the best for PKing with..."SCRUMMY!" I'm Jake Milroy
February 1, 200620 yr ya i think 2k sounds good, even if it dosnet replace sharks, still easier to get then manta rays. I was at edgvill today trying to promote them by giving random players some and telling they heal 22. They were all like "realy!!!". Sig by IkuraiYour Guide to Posting! February 1, 200620 yr When this came out I made 170 tuna potatoes. I would say it took 4 hours to collect what I needed and put it all together. It was NOT fun. Churning butter is insanely slow and boring and you can only do 14 at a time or 28 if you throw your buckets away. I kept my buckets. Mixing the ingredients is the biggest pain. Far too often you accidently eat the ingredients. Bah to tuna potatoes bah I say BAH! I won't be making them again, ever. Why should we buy postage stamps when we can make our own?aperson being
February 1, 200620 yr These can't be harder to make than ugthanki kebabs were. If you are making them in say 200 batches at a time, it goes alot faster because you dont go pick 28 potatoes, go milk28 cows, etc. You get all supplies first. The way you list it makes it seem alot longer. Compare missing some ingredients to fishing for like 15 min. I used to make ugthanki kebabs to pk when I couldn't get sharks, and I think tons of people will take the time to make these. Considering doing some myself. .:: RSC Product ::..:: 116 Combat ::..:: 1777 Overall ::..:: Biggest Single Drop Log Ever ::.
February 1, 200620 yr i reckon the same as you 1.5k-2k But i suppose the people who make it will decide the prices. De_Pk - Level 117 - Banned September 30th '06.
February 1, 200620 yr Well.... if the market based the price on nothing other than the hp healing of it in a ratio to the sharks, it'd be worth 1.1k. So unless every single person in the game is constantly making these, they should never fall below that. And taking in the fact that they take a very long time to make and that you have to get quite a few ingredients for it, then yeah, the prices should be way up there. For example, look at the high gaps between low-high lvl/good things. Although there's not that big of a gap between things, the high lvl things are worth way more. Examples are: Rune weapon-30K : Dragon Weapon-100k : Whip-4mil Diamond ammy-10k : Glory Ammy-100k : Onyx ammy-5mil Willow 30gp : Yew 300gp : Magic logs 1K Lobsters-300gp : Sharks-1K : Tuna-corn potatoe-??? Yeah, so there are small gaps between healing amounts or exp amounts or stat amounts, but that is not what decides the price gaps. It's the fact that the higher items are either much rarer or much harder to get/make. So... basically my point in this rambling post is that the "small 2-hp difference" can actually mean a little more than it looks like. That extra 2hp per inv slot could really make a big difference where it's needed. February 1, 200620 yr if you watch pure pkers in action, they often get kills with their rings of recoil (this takes off the last 1-6 or so damage), using food that heals 22hp in one bite could save you from death, at least for a second or two. even this is enough time to freeze them or eat and hope they dont hit high

February 1, 200620 yr Question: Lets say only about 1k players in the game are willing to make these items normaly, being basicly the only flow intot he game. But some peopel do want them (lets say about 75% of the population knows about them, but only 25% wants them.). Would this cause the prices to rise alot? Or just stay slightly above sharks?
