It seems that a certain mod on the Runescape Recent Udpate forums have gone lock happy pertaining threads about the recent SOF change which allows you to convert your prize into Runescape gold. What are your thoughts about this update, and what are your thoughts on the certain corrupt mod?

Ah so you support Jagex crackdown on those unhappy with microtransactions? I suppose you don't mind the game sinking and dieing then either, or being milked while it dies.

No I support Jagex's crackdown on retards spamming the wrong sub forum with the wrong topics.

So you are saying an update that happened the day people posted about is not recent? Yet the same mod has the right to post in the recent updates about an update announced a month ago?

x Posting non constructive threads (it’s fine to not like something but please explain why!)

x Have a thread title which isn't descriptive of the thread

x Threads specifically attacking Jagex or J-Mods

Quite a few of those threads were constructive. They explained exactly what was wrong with the new SOF update, they had titles relating to the troubling topics, and didn't attack Jmods or Jagex specifically. While you might claim that some threads attacked Jagex, they were pointing out problems with Jagexs changes in ideas over the SOF problem, and weren't dedicated in attacking Jagex, rather, they tried to show the problems of this update, or give solutions or alternatives to the update instead. Yet all of them were locked, not just the off topic ones such as the ones bragging about getting 400m off the wheel.

EDIT: Perhaps I should list a few of the problems this update will cause listed from various threads, I can't give you thread codes, as you know, most of them were locked, or hidden.

Will cause damage to the economy. Inflation from the cash comming into the game.

The inflation will make it harder for those without cash to spare to gain money in Runescape.

Is a slippery slope towards a full blown cash shop.

Will greatly devalue in game achievements.

Allows those with spare cash to get even farther ahead legally than before, something, Jagex stated they are against.

The reason for the lock of the topics was said in the previous thread you made on the exact same topic.

They're locked because Jagex doesn't want them there because it's the wrong subforum.

And your so called "corrupt mod" isn't corrupt, just following the orders of Jagex.

I just got banned from the RuneScape official forums, I haven't received any evidence at all, I asked a bit around the RWT rule and suddenly I got banned.

I think a F-mod did it.

Anyway, there's nothing confident between Jagex and me yet so I can post about it here luckely.

They are completely getting nuts, also someone else who posted things to help me was banned after a few posts as well.

She received her latest warning when she told facts about the past and got banned after posting this:

"Joey D doesn't even know about the history of the game, RuneScape has been created and later on the Gower brothers decided to make their own compagnie around it called Jagex.

Because of that, RuneScape existed before Jagex did."

Can you get banned for that?

Oh lol I just heard "Advocating Real World Trading. " is also against the rules, didn't know that, can't find it in the rules of conduct, anyone else?

Oh, I feel even more sorry for someone I won't name who tried to protect me.

There hasn't even been given a reason to her why she's banned, she just got told to highlight a mod where she disagrees with.

Then were must she highlight for?

She already stated it's impossible to highlight a F-mod and F-mods do abuse that.

The only reasons F-mods could be highlighted for are:

Flaming

Ignoring Forum Specific Rules

Scamming and staff impersonation

Encouraging others to break the rules

Scam/hack websites (malicious intent)

Real-life issues / breaking real-world laws

sharing or requesting personal information

Seriously offensive or threatening language

So no, wrongly hide a post or anything like that whatsoever.

They could even ask for your password and still get away with it.

There's no need to triple post. Please stop it lol :P

No, Jagex is retarded. Everyone knows that once the Gowers of power left, RS got [bleep]ed hard in every sense.

Edit:

Idk if I could find it, but it's likely classified as encouraging others to break rules.

What are your thoughts about this update,

My thoughts have been included in the appropriate thread where they should be (http://forum.tip.it/...ults-970-spins/).

and what are your thoughts on the certain corrupt mod?

Just because you don't agree with someone doesn't mean they're corrupt. Being corrupt is "Having or showing a willingness to act dishonestly in return for money or personal gain." This forum moderator has nothing to gain from this. Their only goal is to keep order on the RSOF based on the rules and proceedures given to them by Jagex. I don't blame them one bit for getting rid of those people who don't know how to follow a few simple rules.

I find this interesting but I don't follow the rsof at all so unless someone posts screenshots of the topics of that were locked(if that's even allowed on tif..?) I can't really judge. Tif being a premium fansite and such a lot of time it's impossible to really discuss these things because we're not allowed to post the evidence.

There might be a minority here, but a recent update really does qualify the day, or the day after the update was announced, vs that same moderator posting about an update announced a month ago the same day the SOF convert items to gold update came out. As someone else said, it might just be Jagex ordering their mods to hide posts that are against their microtransactions.

My gut feeling (and experience as a former RSOF Forum Mod) ask these two questions:

  1. Was the discussion about the most recent update to SoF without borrowing themes from the past updates?

  2. Did it read more like a rant and not an actual discussion about the topic at hand?

FMods rarely act on vendetta. If the topic was more of an nonconstructive rant and less of a discussion, it would deserve to be closed. If it were a constructive rant, it'd be moved to the stupidly hidden forum Rants board. If it were a true discussion about the recent update, then it'd have stayed open.

Jagex's FMod policy may seem lax, but for the most part, they check up on closed threads. If it didn't deserve it, then it'd be overturned. But...ranting about it here isn't going to do much of anything.

I realize why they were locked, but I don't agree with their reason.

If they don't want people to post SoF-related constructive criticism in recent updates, they shouldn't update that crap every week. [/2cents]

Like what has been said though, ranting here won't make a difference.

There's a difference between ranting about a recent Squeal update and ranting about the SoF as a whole, though. Based on the little bit I've seen here, I get the feeling that our OP did the latter, and didn't take it well when the mods did their job.

But then, I'm a bit cynical regarding people claiming to be innocent about that sort of thing (With reason - It doesn't work in your favor if the first thing you do after a ban is join a different site and complain about the mod).

True, I can't speak for the OP's post or thread. I see legitimate threads I read earlier this week in Recent Updates in Rants now though, which I don't think is really fair.

Jagex post SoF News in Recent Updates, why aren't players allowed to discuss it there?

1. The majority of the thread was about the recent update, however, it is hard to make a slippery slope argument without referencing past updates. Additionally, to help make my thread easier to understand mentioning those past updates and briefly going over the problems they caused would help newer readers understand the exact problem we are dealing with. What you are suggesting is that just mentioning a past update is worthy of a lock in the recent forums.

2. It was more of a discussion, it wasn't the "WAAAAAAAH SOF SOOOCKS" thread, I presented and explained the problem, and I provided solutions to help get rid of this problem.

3. The mod her self mentioned she was cracking down on what she called "trolls." Where in reality it seems as she was more just assuming people she didn't agree with were trolls. While some may have been less than useful, others provided information on the problem, and how to fix it.

So cracking down on what she calls trolls to keep the forum clean is being "corrupt"?

The mod in question may be misguided by your belief, but she's sure as hell not corrupt. >_<

Many believe that the 1980 eruption of Mt. Saint Helens was a catostrophic geological event, in reality it was the day that Jimi Hendrix returned to Earth from the next world and actually stood up next to a mountain and chopped it down with the edge of his hand.

A random thread I found in recent updates. It's been up for two days. Seems like when the spam is praising the sof, there's no problem LOL
