I wouldn't mind finding the dps scale for top end wands with and without offhands.

 

What's the dps of...

 

Virtus wand?

Virtus wand and abyssal orb?

Virtus wand and virtus book?

Seismic wand?

Seismic wand and virtus book?

Seismic wand and seismic singularity?

Take damage stat of item(s) divide by the speed (eg average is 3.6 seconds iirc, fast is 3 fastest is 2.4 I think etc rswiki can tell you this easily enough).

Alright so then could someone explain what the dps is for all these setups? I would like to try and see the potential difference between all those setups.

You could be a little more specific in what you are looking for. I doubt anyone is going to make full 3D charts of attack roll vs. defense roll vs. DPS for you. It would also be helpful if you said whether you use only abilities or momentum(for barraging).

 

In any case, with abilities, as already stated, damage is limited by the book/orb you use. 

First to 99 Farming on 27. September, 2005.

First to 3766 Port Score on 20. March, 2014.

First to 4664 Port Score on 2. March, 2015.

I was assuming an end game pvm role - so yes, with abilities.

 

I never asked for a 3d chart of anything. I am simply asking for dps on those combinations. I'm aware that people use a base abilities to test these things.

 

This way I could compare things such as virtus wand with abyssal orb against virtus wand with virtus book. Or virtus wand with virtus book against seismic wand with virtus book.

 

I'm purely trying to justify the cost of the offhands and maybe virtus wand as a stepping stone.

I'm wondering this too, spell DMG cap is entirely confusing.

 

Seismic better to use blitz, barra, surges?

 

I thought Magic Weapon damage was tied to the spell and the tier. Ie:

 

Seismics with ice burst: t90 accuracy, t70 damage

Seismics with ice blitz: t90 accuracy, t82 damage

Seismics with any spell 90+ magic: t90 accuracy, t90 damage

 

Virt wand/book with fire surge: t80 accuracy, t80 damage

 

 

If that makes sense. If i'm completely wrong then someone pick me apart, since i'd like to know as well =]

You can use the damage values from Ascension crossbows or Drygore maces instead of spell damage values. Provided you are using t90+ spells, that should work.

Magic damage is capped by spell level and weapon level, whichever is lower, so you're correct.  Damage is:

 

Main hand = 9.6 * Level

Off hand = 4.8 * Level

Ability damage is a multiple of main+off.

 

Again, "Level" is the lower of spell level or weapon level.

 

 


 

Assuming you're not capped by spell level, then you get 96 more damage from using Seismic Wand vs using Virtus (since Seismic is 10 Weapon Levels above Virtus).

 

Similarly, Seismic Orb adds 48 damage above Virtus book, which adds 24 damage above Abyssal Orb.

I thought the whole magic weapon vs spell relationship can now be viewed via the in game equipment screen now.

 

But basic jist is, the level of the spell does not usually, dictate the level of damage it will do, each tier of spells (with some exceptions) will do more damage as you level until you reach a certain cap, which is based on their inherent maximum spell damage.

 

For example, all 4 blast spells will do the same damage, with its damage capping out at t70, wave at t80 and surge at t90. Ancients are the major exception to this rule iirc.
