Rip that Ranged Dungeon

I'm betting it'll be here next month. Hopefully along with a new skill...

Hope so. Think it's too early for a skill release, would expect news next month (or in July at least). I was imagining that they would release the skills to coincide with the major holidays (summer and christmas), so as to maximise potential membership fees due to people wanting to be first to 99/200m etc (it's a business after all)

think the craftable armors will go meds/chains/skirts/squares (lol) offensive, plates, legs, fulls, kites defensive?

DK drops (solo/LS): 66 hatchets, 14 archer rings, 13 berserker rings, 17 warrior rings, 12 seerculls, 13 mud staves, 7 seers rings

QBD drops: 1 kite, 2 visages, 4 dragonbone kits, 3 effigies, lots of crossbow parts

CR vs. CLS threads always turn into discussions about penis size.
...
It's not called a Compensation Longsword for nothing.

I've sent a 12k combat mission to have Aiel assassinated (poor bastard isn't even Pincers-tier difficulty).

I think that would be pretty cool!

Breathe a new life into these pointless armour pieces.

It'd make sense for them to turn meds/chains/skirts into hybrid gear, actually.

This makes more sense, as chainbodies and med helms were designed so they wouldn't inhibit your spellcasting and ranging as much back before EoC. Full helms would inhibit your aim more than a mostly open-faced medium helm, and chainbodies had nothing protecting your arms, so you could draw back bows more easily. Not sure about skirts though, but I guess they could reason that less junk-friction would allow for better focus and unrestricted flow of "magical energies".

Chainskirts also allow for much better "ventilation."

Roaming Ga'al update:

Q. Do we need to be under the Donation Coffer's buff to see the ga'al?

A. Yes. (Sorry! But think of all those poor TzHaar suffering in TokKul you'll be putting to rest...)

I'm going to also throw this one out for free (I'd hoped you'd lock down more of the conditions before getting the coffer one, which could get quite expensive to keep the buff going):

When I said earlier that the Ga'al wanders around, that was more of an in-character explanation for how he's exploring Gielinor - he *isn't* only ever in one place on your server.

You don't need to be anywhere specific to see the Ga'al, except you can never find him 'inside the box'.

And yes, Mod Osborne is exactly right! The bookcase contains tasty elder god backstory. I really enjoyed writing the lore and worked closely with him to ensure it sets up what he wants to do with them and the TokHaar in the future. I hope it'll be worth the wait!

Q. I hate to ask for clarification, but does that mean that as soon as we have the conditions, it'll appear near us?

A. Exactly. Good hunting!

Mod Chris has confirmed that PoP will be defensive while Nex will be offensive. So here we go: [bleep] Jagex. I have never seen a more narcissistic herd of fools and liars.

BTS Video: "This update is all about the feedback. We really care about your feedback. Your feedback is what has driven this update. Your feedback made these changes possible. Did I mention how important your feedback was to this update?"

Yeah....

"Oh, and we will be ignoring all the feedback that high level players have made for the last several months and be doing what we feel like doing, even if it makes no sense at all."

Might want to look up the definition of narcissism. I don't see the relation.

Hypocritical? Yeah, maybe...

I'm quite aware of the definition of the term. They're narcissists, they actually think they are giving players what they want while objectively ignoring feedback because they are self-obsessed with their greatnesss. Perhaps if they weren't actually in love with how great they think they are, maybe then they could try and listen to the actual feedback given by the players whom they purport to be listening to.

But Nex armour will have reduced defence too, so POP will be best for all the strong bosses.

Most bosses are pathetically weak in EoC, as you no doubt know. That's why Void is so prevalent everywhere, including Nex (for attackers). And it has the defense of what? Level 30-40 armour? Torva will be Void on Roids, perhaps designated tanks might find PoP to be better, but for everyone else, Torva/Nex will be better. Tanks are such a small minority of boss hunters, that PoP will basically be niche armour. Again, it's horrendous.

??? That's incompetence, or a complete mismatch of views, not narcissism.

Narcissism is when Chris L wakes up in the morning from his Ancient Prison themed bed, brushes his teeth with a Virtus Wand brand toothbrush whilst admiring a pin-up of Nex that says "The most intelligent boss ever" and then sits down to a cup of coffee poured into a Kalger-shaped mug.

I find it interesting the discussion has become a semantical one about one particular word. Even if you didn't agree with the word of choice, you probably knew the meainig: I was voicing a certain kind of disapproval with Jagex. Anyways, as for my particular use of 'narcissist', it is a completely valid use of the term. The core of narcissism is about egocentrism, which is what I have accused Jagex of being. Hence why they keep doing whatever they feel like (and ignoring feedback in the process) while simultaneously being able to claim that they are firmly committed to feedback.

Every time Jagex pushes an update or a teaser all we get is whining and complaining from you, so instead of trying to give you reasons to wait for the update first or how to view it from a different manner, we're going to instead comment on your diatribe :P

Anyway, why not just wait and see what this does to POP and Nex armour?

Jagex reacting to feedback never seems to go quite right tbf.

What people *really* wanted is for the choice for each and every armor to be defensive or offensive (and possibly hybrid too though it isn't too big a deal if its separate).

It'd be far simpler imo for tiers and no fair armour x is better than y (read nex and pop obviously) if all armour was dropped/made as an unwearable X Plate then could at an anvil/bank/crafting stand be swapped to X Plate (o) or X Plate (d) (or X Plate (h)) where it becomes wearable with appropriate stats, but is also untradable until returned to plain X Plate.

Interesting info for the Ga'al too, but hot dam they didn't half make it convoluted.

It's outside of Thzaar and having the tokkul donation is only ONE of the conditions to make it appear!?!

Someone actually made a good point of the potential use of the defensive armours and offensive armours. While defensive might be a bit lack luster for faster kills it offered players more stability in the PVM environment, the community *should* see them as something of tank gear or a buffer to the learning curve. The offensive sets on the other hand would probably be for the more experienced PVMer who is going for faster and more dangerous kills. Sadly though the majority of the community will see these sets as end game and won't look back on the defensive sets. Then when they die because they were ill prepared themselves and only cared to have the best set in the game they'll whine some more.

I lavish praise when it is due, and scorn when deserved. I have done both of those things on TIF (as evidenced by my defense of EoC through the whole affair). That Jagex has lately been handling its matters in a poor way for the past few months is on their shoulders, not mine. I refuse to cut corners and try to be appreciative when it is undeserved. If certain people who feel the incessant need to defend Jagex on every turn choose to call it a "diatribe" or "harangue" or whatever, I am not in the least bit worried.

Anyway, why not just wait and see what this does to POP and Nex armour?

Well, I will be reserving final judgment for it after it has been released, but they have already eliminated the most creative ways to handle an armour rework (which was mentioned in various feedback sent to them). As Sly mentioned, what most people really wanted was being able to modify each individual armour set into either of the 3 versions (offensive, defensive, hybrid), or perhaps have different versions of each set: so for instance, upon making Tetsu you could choose to make it offensive/defensive/hybrid (and it'd stay that way forever), same for boss drops. There were a lot of creative things they could have done and that had been suggested to them. Instead they not only took the least creative way out, but they were set on taking the one option that EVERYONE told them not to take: don't make PoP defensive and make Nex offensive. Even if it somehow miraculously ends up working out, there isn't much that could sway me because the options that I and many others wanted (diversity in armour choice) have already been precluded as a possibility from this update. Whatever else happens, we do know that the option a lot of people wanted (modifications to each individual armour) will not be released today.
