Whips Value as opposed to its Rarity

Featured Replies

I don't know for certain but I can say for myself and many other Slayers that the Abyssal Demon, which I kill 600-800 of each day on assignment, are no longer dropping the Abyssal Whip with the frequency they have in the past.

When I first got 85 slayer they dropped them as commonly as a Rune Medium Helmet from a Lesser Demon.

Now they will drop, if you are lucky, 1 out of ever 1000 Abyssal Demon's killed.

The effort, time, and expense required to get one are now much higher than they were in the past, becaseu of this its value should rise.

I am now refusing to sell my whips for less than 5 Million GP. I would rather let them rot in my bank then to allow an unskilled market watcher the ability to get one.

Those of you who get one, take a look back and see how hard it was to procure. Dont sell it. If we all do this the price will rise to what it is actually worth.

Your not the only person with 85 slayer.

Fair enough, i understand what your saying...

But now, to many people have got 85 slayer, and some people are even getting a few whips a day!

They can afford to sell them for a cheaper price.

I honestly dont think whips will raise back up, weather the drop rate has been changed to not.

Dude bad move..don't stop the market!!...the market holds eery powers!! I may not be a abby demon slayer but i know what you mean..I thought it was rather disgraceful how the price of D2h dropped to as low as 3.5mil! on first day too.. i was always expecting dragon drops to come in market at like 100mil..i remember when owning a rune kite costed around 800k! there was none of this fancy dragon back then! and d meds..you can pick one up now for 750k..they used o be around 2mil! so people stop degrading the market and higher your prices..skills are becoming to much of a loss to gain lvls in..crafting for example, due to lower prices of range armour i now find myself making major losses whne i try to craft things so i have given up on most the skills..because you cant make money unless you alch it these days..

so as a closing statement, im with this dude!! stop selling your whips for cheap as dirt prices and up the price back up to around 5mil (where as they used to be about 11mil!!) so just stop undercutting yourselves and start making the money you deserve like we used to..

lol good luck with that, i get he feeling your going to have alot of whips in your bank

swordwarior.png

Stick at it man! but you cant argue with the fact they aint gona stay high forever as there is a permanent supply unlike the 'rares' of nowadays such a p hat..people aren't still acquiring them!

Yes, I agree completely. I killed about 1200 abbys so far with no whip...I mean, it doesn't really bother me too much, because I don't really care too much about the money. It was just nice to get 85 slayer.

However, the price does not rise for a different reason than you might think. So many people are going for higher than 85 slayer, and just happening to get whips in abby tasks. So, they just want to pretty much sell that whip ASAP and get back to slaying.

If everyone did not train their slayer past 85, and everyone just stayed at that level to get whips, the prices would not be this low. Thats just my prediction.

whips are unbelieveable rare right now

ive gone 23 tasks before without getting whip

recently 17 tasks, and after only 1 whip, its been 8 days of only training whipless..

im also sticking to the 5m price.

Clean_Staker.png

Maybe a system of incresed rarity of slayer drops unless that monster was part of the assignment. This would mean people who are actually training slayer, not just getting 85, would be rewarded.

Holy **** I thought I was unlucky with only getting 1 whip on 5 assignments. I regret selling 1 for 2.9 mill yesterday now that I know it was not an isolated icendent to get 1 in 5 assignments.

Well Id rather stake my whips, whip for whip, at the duel arena then sell it cheaper than its worth. Im never bringing aother whip into the economy through falador unless I get 5M for it. Ill stake it though:-).

Whips sell for what now? around 2.5mil right? And you want to charge double...

You'll never sell them on the open market.

And over time their value just decreases so your losing money over pride.

Besides the fact that 85 slayer is no longer an exclusive stat, whips also enter the market from other sources like pkers and duelers.

Oh and then their are those who benefit from luck and well... another's misfortune.

Say for instance, me at the gargoyles when a lvl 123 kinda loses connection and you know... stuff drops.

fair enough...My whips will be coming to the market from a dueler then.

But at the rate they are dropping demand will quickly outweigh the supply. Price will rise, then I will sell.

I think therre was a post discussing the rate of slayer drops being much slower. Jagex probably wants the best weapon in the game at a higher more exclusive price. Mahahahahaha!

With so many trees in the city you could see the spring coming each day until a night of warm wind would bring it suddenly in one morning. Sometimes the heavy cold rains would beat it back so that it would seem that it would never come and that you were losing a season out of your life. But you knew that there would always be the spring as you knew the river would flow again after it was frozen. When the cold rains kept on and killed the spring, it was as though a young person had died for no reason. In those days though the spring always came finally but it was frightening that it had nearly failed.

Although i am no longer a member or playing much, I had noticed this trend almost as soon as I got 85 slayer. The first time I had gone to fally to sell a whip drop, there were people shouting out "buying whip for ..." with prices around 200k-300k lower than the going rate. Some sellers are easily lulled into thinking that thats the best they can get and sell at the lower price and within days (or even hours) the going price is supposed to be lowered. Although I stuck to selling the first whip at the highest price I could get, I did quite often sell the later ones at lower prices just to avoid spending any more time in the fally market.

Although I did not spend too much time getting whips (I got about 8 whips in 6 weeks) the time spent at abbys per whip seemed to me to average around 6-8 hours. For those looking to make money off whips by training slayer, the gp per hour averaged around 400-600k per hour at the 3.4M per whip that used to exist at the time. Considering the effort and expense required to get the level, thats a measly amount. Runecrafting is far better in that regard since there the reward is assured and not as reliant on luck as with abbys.

Once the price of whips falls below 2.4M and you average a whip every 8 hours, it is more worthwhile to craft nats than to try to get whips if you are doing it for the money. At a rate of one whip every 10 hours, whips need to be 3M ea to be worthwhile.

However, the abyssals are still good as a training area and in that sense, the whips are just a bonus for which the price doesnt make any difference.

As long as there are more and more people getting 85 slayer the price of whips is going to keep going down.

As long as there are more and more people getting 85 slayer the price of whips is going to keep going up.

That made no sense....

With more supply of whips ((more people getting 85 slayer)) the price will go down.... Supply/demand...

But if the drop rate is goin down, then possibly the price will stabilize and maybe, maybe go up a little.. We will never see the good old days of 20M/15/12 then 10m whips.

I sold my last whip for 3.2 and am using DScimi for str training. Will now buy my whip again at 2.75.

Buyin 1 month early becuz of this thread

Quite the opposite actually, more 85 slayers means more whips being released into the game each day. Since the demand for whips is roughly the same while the supply is always increasing. That means prices will always be getting cheaper.

single_skill1165709744.png

YUSS IM ALL FOR IT! i have 3 whips in bank that i got from merching, i bought at about 2.5mil each, and booooyyy would that be some heck of a profit

1-3.jpg

I am glad to see someone talking about this. I am just shy of level 84 slayer. I have been very upset seeing prices drop as I continue to spend resources to gain these levels. By the time I reach level 85 prices will be around 1.8million.

Slayer skill has been the most expencive skill to raise with only Prayer in close contention. The price gap between how costly is is to raise Slayer (*Prayer) versus all other skills is so wide it is outrageous. Of course my personal time being the most costly resource. But no mater how much I want to cry about it nothing is going to change. Not unless Jagex really will or has adjusted drop rates. But also, only if that drop rate is adjusted somewhat dramaticly and not just slightly.

Let those whips rot! ! !

yeah i meant down

You're forgiven Bayern.

Its a circle, all markets work like this.

Less people use slayerto get whip drops because there such a low price. Not as many whip because less people bring them in. Price rises. Those people who gave up on whips come back. More whip added to game, rinse and repeat.

Unless they changed the drop rate :o then i suspect we shall see a steady price at a little under 4M.

If there is some kind of mechanism in the game to adjust drop rates based on number of people with that skill or number of items in game then this might be the trend you all are alluding too.

That would be an interesting game design, but I'm not sure Jagex spends resources keeping track of items and how many people are able to get them.

That pole asking about quest points gives some hint of that not being the case.

But anyhow, if drop rates are being adjusted then prices may stabilize.

I have the impression that burrows stuff has stabilized in prices, is this true?
