when I first got to 85 slayer, whips were 6m and they weren't too rare of drops. But they definitly are much rarer to find now, take that from someone who has gotten 55 of them. Plus, slayer is one tough cookie of a skill, we deserve the money and I'm raising mine to 99 currently in hopes that another item wil lcome along.

I personally have given away many whips (12) to friends and clanmates, and all other profits I have re-invested into slayer (cannonballs) or mage (runes). I am actually quite poor.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

If the profit from the skill dissapears because lazy noobs believe they deserve the whip cheaper and spam the prices in fally lower and lower then slayer will become another useless skill akin to firemaking. Then nobody would care to train it and the skill I love so much will die.

I have recently given up killing Abyssals. I had gone over 3 weeks without a single whip drop. I am now currently working on other skills.

I agree with ya man, whips are getting harder and harder to get.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Within the last 6 weeks or so I have gotten 2 whips... Longest dry spell is about a month, then got 6 in one day. This dry spell is going on over 3 weeks since my last one. I dont know whats up.. whether Im unlucky now, or jagex did infact lower the drop rates, but I think whips should really be no less than 4mil. I always figured whips would never go below 5, but I was totally wrong :(

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Im gonna make a poll on clan boards, and ask all of my clan m8s who are 85+ slayer how their luck has been... Ill post back on this in a couple days when I get some votes.

Ok, i apologize for any insults i may have tossed at you, but when i read your post i couldnt believe someone was crying over being 85 slayer and the prices not matching the work, join the club, u can work your butt off all day and make nothing, or get lucky and get many drops, with barrows, slayer, kq, etc everything is so random, people could just be getting a dry patch, im not 85 slayer, nor did i want to waste my time lvling it up but the people who did, got rich, and any money u made, u bought more supplies, to lvl more so i dont see how that could be a bad thing, if u didnt spend it, ud still have it either way, so u still earned loads and loads off slayer, going for 99 would just be a waste IMO because 95 would be like the top monster for it but who knows i could be wrong

What you post won't change the # of people buying vs # of people selling, how hard it is to get (I get them at least 1 in every 3 tasks still on average...), and how useful it is, which is ultimately what makes the price what it is.

Or you guys can shut the hell up, the whole world of runescape is, in one way, based on prices, now if all items lower in price, like whip, then the money is worth less, meaning you aren't losing ANY profit from your stupid whips that will be 1M in a few months time (maybe 3-5). you can't just get stubborn like little kids, grow up, prices lower, deal with it ... go get your other levels up if you can't get whips fast enough, and don't cry about not getting one in 5 assignments or whatever, if you just keep them going down at the same rate then everything would be fine. I personally don't care for that 3M profit off whips, Merchanting got me everything in my sig...

They will never drop that low because if they go much lower then the supply will drop off completely. People will stop going there if its not worth going too. Therefore, I can honestly say that 3m will be the lowest price until a new and better weapon comes along or people stop trying to manipulate the price so that any noob can purchase the greatest weapon in the game :roll: .

Either way, whips are the strongest weapon in the game. In my mind, a bit too strong. I can't honestly see anything much stronger being released into the game than a whip. Before too long anybody would be able to afford the strongest weapon, this would make combat very easy and alot more people to be very high level. Whips have also definitly been decreased in drop rate since when they first came out, yet the price keeps going down. I personally don't believe that the price should be that low for the best and greatest weapon in the game.

Okay, now i am a level 79 that has a whip and personally i agree with Axe Man :o the whip is one of the best training weps in the game, and if the drops are getting significantly harder to obtain then price will rise. If you want to hold out then please do. All we can do is wait for the economy as Leester has stated to prove this true or false.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

No i dont have 85 slayer and i probaly never will, im a lvl 79 that hits * with a whip, i dont care, the whip has been one of my favirote weps. Nobody will be able to do anything, hell all of Tip.It is not even close to a percentage of over runescape players. Just wait and time will tell all.

Of course you think the price should be higher. Anybody still killing abbies for money does. Point is that just because the drop rate may have gone down, that doesn't change the fact that demand is decreasing because now almost everybody either 1) already has one, 2) can get their own at abbies, or 3) would rather use barrows equipment for whatever reason.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Prices won't go up unless the rate whips come into the game drops enough that demand is higher than availability, and it'll have to be a lot lower before that happens.

For you noobs that are flaming, do you even know how hard and long it is to get to 85 Slayer. I know I'm not 85 Slayer, but I'm 76 and it is still like 3 months for 85.

Whips are the ultimate weapon, thats why in my opinion they should be around 10 mill. With RS now days, it isnt very hard to get 2.5 mill or so to get a whip. Anyone who wants a whip could easily afford it (and if you say you cant then you are just plain lazy, it is NOT a lot of work to get 2.5 mill)

 

 

 

10 mill on the other hand is a descent amount to accumulate. It shows some deadication and hard work to get it.

 

 

 

this would mean anyone with a whip worked for it. Be it earning 10 mill to afford it, or actually getting 85 slayer. (pking and dueling excluded obviousely)

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I paid 21 mill for my whip. Do I regret it? Not in the least.

 

 

 

In my opinion its worth every GP I spent on it and then some. I dont mind prices being almost 1/10th what I paid because my whip has more then paid itself off in my eyes.

 

 

 

I just think the prices are too low simply because it isnt much work to earn the money to afford the games best weapon. It shouldnt be so easily obtained by anyone.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

And no, 2.5 mill isnt anything to sneeze at, its a reasonable sum of money, but it is NOT hard to make with a little hard work, which is why i think 10 mill or so would be better, it shows more determination to get the best.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

MY opinions on it. I know they will never be 10 mill again, nor will they probably every raise even slightly in price. Its just what i think would be more appropriate for the best of the best melee weapons.

Just a thought but maybe they did change the drop rate due to the fact that they released a pie that allows to add to your slayer. That way it would "equal" out the drops of whips to make up for the extra people killing them.

I don't know for certain but I can say for myself and many other Slayers that the Abyssal Demon, which I kill 600-800 of each day on assignment, are no longer dropping the Abyssal Whip with the frequency they have in the past.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

When I first got 85 slayer they dropped them as commonly as a Rune Medium Helmet from a Lesser Demon.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Now they will drop, if you are lucky, 1 out of ever 1000 Abyssal Demon's killed.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The effort, time, and expense required to get one are now much higher than they were in the past, becaseu of this its value should rise.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I am now refusing to sell my whips for less than 5 Million GP. I would rather let them rot in my bank then to allow an unskilled market watcher the ability to get one.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Those of you who get one, take a look back and see how hard it was to procure. Dont sell it. If we all do this the price will rise to what it is actually worth.

This has been tried even when whips were 20m each- if it didnt work then- it cant work now. slayers no longer control how many whips the economy gets- too many are already handed out.

uh wasnt dlong 100k and the best melee weapon in the game for how long? so why does it being the best weapon in the game influence anything in price? and if its not rare, then why expect it to stay high in price? IMO its been far too long for a drop in its prices, it was 26m and then stable at 10 and then down to 9 7 6 and now like 3 or 2... so its been way over priced for too long, dlong was a staple to pk with and u didnt mind losing 100k, so... whip will get there, adn then a new weapon will dominate
