jwrm22
And this is coming from a site who has a thread and a whole forum dedicating to "Website updates and Corrections"? lol, you're a quick one. Maybe you didn't pick up on the idea that Jagex have all the info they need at their fingure tips (they created the game, last time I checked at least). Obviously a fan site has to test, check, and double check. So thats a pretty dumb statement on your part. Jagex don't even know where their Black Dragons and Bloodvelds are. Unless you happen to think Jagex's game code magically reassembeld itself into a knowledge base, it had to be laboriously typed in, all 150k words. (There are probably fifteen words of code per word of text you see), so I'm betting that their batting average is still higher, considering the massive undertaking that is is. Maybe you're just not comprehending what I'm saying. Never once did I suggest their KB assembled itself. What I DID say is all the information is there at their fingure tips. All they need to do is research their own product. Quit making stupid excuses for them. This does look like a great database. But there are simply too many stupid people out there for it to work. They will not read it, they will not go to it when they have a question. They will still bug the people in game relentlessly. Nice try Jagex but I don't think it will do too much. Can we have a real update now? Well put. That and its too little too late. We already have well established "knowledge bases". isnt all those stuff copyright? ^^ click my sig for my lesser ranging guide ^^jwrm22: 4816th > 99 cooking 100% f2p !1172 total! + 140mil in items.i dont play anymore... i think rs is ruined
Kiara_Kat
All a fan site can do is provide information. Yous can't provide customer support directly with the game. Y2g2003, I think you may have missed my point. I wasn't implying in any way that we have anything to do with Jagex Customer Service or Support. The customer service aspect was only an example of a business that has a monopoly on a certain product or service. I wasn't talking about Jagex customer service. All I was trying to say is that if fansites didn't exist, players would have only one source of information to depend on, written and provided by the very same people that want you to play their game. Remember, the SEARCH button is your friend. Use it!

Lime_Mercury
The information is inaccurate (I was simply ribbing them for that). I just find it funny that I say that they are out of touch with their game, and they continue to prove me right. The info is openly available to them though... whether you want to admit that or not really doesn't matter to me. I am having difficulty seeing how we relate a handful of mistakes to an inaccurate knowledgebase. It would do you well to keep in mind that many corrections to the things that are considered inaccurate on tip.it are at the hands (or readily available to) of the people that write the pages as well. so there's this thread in p2p general called "the most annoying things ppl do on runescape" i am tempted to post "ya wen im cybering with a girl and they log off for no reason"
Umega
Well, there is certainly a mixed opinion on this new knowledge base that jagex has constructed. This is just a flaming war now. :? No longer playing Runescape, I caught the WoW bug.
lagatag
I read through some of the stuff. Good for noobs, but imo sites like tip.it still have better info for more advanced and expierenced players. Good for newbs though.
Evrae
This isn't a flame war, its a debate. The difference being, this hasn't got personal (yet  ) I have to get practically naked when I'm cooking bacon.I may be immature, but that made me laugh! Y2g2003
This isn't a flame war, its a debate. The difference being, this hasn't got personal (yet  ) Exactly. I dunno why everyone cries "flame war" when ever someone disagrees. Reminds me of some of the conversations myself and Shiva had (people would try getting us to stop arguing when we were just discussing certain topics). God rest his soul... Some of you people exagerate things too much. Last time I checked, this WAS a discussion forum. Obviously opinions are going to conflict with one another, thats the beauty of it all. A lot of people like the KB, and thats great. I, on the other hand, opt to disagree to a certain degree with it. The usefulness of it will only be short term, then they'll let it get extremely out of date probably. R.I.P Shiva
Bloodveld
Here is a pic of the top of the barrows page: It then does that for each set. Thanks, but someone stated earlier that jagex posted stuff about the actual barrows minigame, could someone screeny that page? (Not the armor, the minigame) :^_^: I drew that smilie, btw, along with a few more used by this site.Classic bloodveld for lyph3! crossfire39
I do not think that jagex could make fansites obsolete without hiring a whole staff to keep the rs website even comparable to fansites. Fansites have many things that the KB will never have if jagex keeps it the way they want. Why would they ever put quest guides up if they meant the quests to be challanging? Why would they ever use their time to help the players by giving them stratagies? Why would they post guides about how to solo monsters that they intended would promote team work? Why..would they spend their money on making the game easier when they release skills like farming and slayer (no offense, but dam these things litterally take days to level). For all these reasons and more, fansites won't die down. Jagex will not be able to match the amount and dedication of staff like Tip.it's and they will not be able to provide the information that we need. Also, personally I think jagex should have baught a forum program, and if they did buy it, it was a waste of money because they pretty much suck to use. .:: RSC Product ::..:: 116 Combat ::..:: 1777 Overall ::..:: Biggest Single Drop Log Ever ::. tewas
well ... i read that guide for a bit and noticed bunch of inacurate information, well ok give them credit of humanity and mistakes. hopefully they will fix it. now about guides, they are half decent for people who have less experienced in game. it does provide half decent information, and most answers to simple question. but if u read more carefully and compare guides with the ones on fansites, u'll see that fansites provide more information, and at "beta" point, fansites are more accurate about information. it might be that jagex tries to cut fansites a little bit, by providing information, but they will never be able to close them, because i rather trust leester's barrows guide, than jagex 10 sentences how to do expensive version :) and yes, information on fansites are free from cenzor (i'm not talking about bad words), and this is the thing knowledge base will never have 1500+ total 89 cmb; 1600+ total and under 93 cmb. 02/04/07 reached all skills 60+ under lvl 90 cmb. 07/19/07 reached all skills 70+ at lvl 93 cmb.Prayer is good for herbs
kwimbob
Anyone know where this can is? Lol, I got's ta go kill some bloodvelds on the can... :lol:Bloodvelds have to use the bathroom too  Honestly though, it just looks like the page just hasn't finished loading. Could someone take a screeny of the barrows page? I'm still in school and would like to see it ;) Actually, I checked that page and it was just unloaded. BTW, the barrows guide is really huge. Basically look at ours, but imagine better graphics on all of the pictures, more emotionless talking, and actually have the confirmed best ways (annoying because this is what they have over us....). Combat 116+; Total 1900+; All Hard Tasks; (Nearly) All quest points; (Nearly) All skills 60+; An aquatic moose ninja.Currently: Using 63 hunter to get some of those "Chins", then I'm going to range stuff down. Interruptions of agility when I feel like it, as well. And lucky enough to get 4 Dragon and 6 Barrow Drops.[hide]Kwimbob now looks exactly like me in real life except for hair color. Yes, this means I look exactly like the protagonist of that certain anime that my second character, Faye_V is also named after. Yes, I bought a jacket that also looks like his. No in real life I don't have a slain bear to sling over my shoulders. Yes, I'm that skinny even if I no-life it for years in basements. No, I can't shoot a gun. Yes, I can win any other strategic video game you have never played - because I probably have, ahahaha. And yes, I also have brown eyes, yet one of my eyes looks different from the other. And yes, I'm completely oblivious to the [real] world around me as I constantly engineer new solutions to daily problems in my head. When I get hungry, all that isn't food can wait. When I'm sleepy - nothing is of any priority in front of sleep. But at any other time, I never slow down. Never give up. Never Surrender. tewas
they don't release so many information, that i'm affraid to call that confirmed way. sorry i trust more reaserches, then customer support PS. sometime code tend to do not exactly what it was intened to do :) we all know bugs right :) ? 1500+ total 89 cmb; 1600+ total and under 93 cmb. 02/04/07 reached all skills 60+ under lvl 90 cmb. 07/19/07 reached all skills 70+ at lvl 93 cmb.Prayer is good for herbs
ravemjr2
IMHO...the KB is a great source for info, but you cant ask a KB for opinions, walkthroughs or the "times" :) It's got it's own faults, but it's just a BETA, so I think we should cut them some slack... And I think this is the way of Jagex terderly saying "We don't care about your stupid little spoiler-dome, never expect anything from us"
Guest
I don't see how this is going to kill tip.it...I come here just as much for the different people as I do the information. The only info I really use here is the quest guides, the treasure stuff, and the calcs. Im not just gonna stop posting bc rs now has some huge db thing that will take me ages to look through. I dont think it was done to kill fan sites at all. Tip it will live on besides you really telling me you guys wanna go post on the RS forums...lol come on they are a joke. Lord_K
Their Rogues Den map is almost a copy of tip.its. Either I'm really good at knowing the exact place of all the traps or Jagex used my map as a reference for their own because the similarities are uncanny! If its any consolation I'll always use your one the Jagex one although it maybe a possible ripoff is blurred and hard to see. Will I use Tip.it or KB? Probably both as both have their advantages, ones got official notes the other is far more understandable. I'd probably choose Tip.its in the end less typos and mistakes and more intresting stuff and better forums. Labled menus and a more human way of explaining things always wins. All_Bogs
As long as the KB doesn't turn into a complete Walkthrough/Strategy Guide, fansites have nothing to fear. In my opinion it's nice to have a quick and easy database to look up stats and the like, though.
Evrae
I just realised that you can find out which quests give experience for a particular skill. This a really, really useful tool. I know there is one somewhere on these forums, but its a pain to get to. The KB will come in handy there. primadog
I don't understand why everyone's giving the KB such a bad rap. Frankly, it's very well written and provide allot of good information. Since all these information came from within Runescape, it'd be more accurate (most of the time) than stuff we researched empirically. For example, none of us know able the effect of the magic secataur until we check up on the knowledge base. Frankly, I see the KB as health competition for Tip.it. We always have many choices of our Runescape information -- tip.it, runehq, runevillage, runescape community; All KB will be is a new competition to the field. We, as consumers of these information, will only come up on top. KB will not necessarily kill Tip.it either. Although KB has an leg-up from tip.it as they have first-hand access to runescape, KB can only offer generic informaton. Tip.it will remain stronger on exotic information, like beastry, Mole guide, quest guides, and thus will not be obsolete. Morever, Tipit has the best forum community in the runescape world, and KB will not change that. Tip.it will not die because of KB, if anything, we'll get less noob posts in General P2P on "SHOULD I GET MY MAGIC TO 99?", and maybe, just, maybe, Customer Service will actually respond to our messages every once a while. All I learned in life, I learned on Tip.it
