JIMMIE
I personally eat meat because its nice, cant beat a bit of steak in my opinion. I wouldnt become a vegetarian ever, as if i stopped eating meat, what good would it do. They dont go out and slaughter a cow just for me, do they? If i didnt buy some meat, someone else would take that very bit from the shelf and guzzle it themselves. Also, studies show vegetarians become ill more often and take more time off from work/school etc. ~Jimmie
Guest GhostRanger
I see your point here, sorry I didn't make mine clear enough. Personally I don't have a problem with chopping trees down for wood, as long as it is done in a way that preserves the rainforests to the greatest extent possible. When I buy my desk I don't know if the wood has come from a company that does this or not. It's a risk I take, I just morally hope I get the right one. That however is a different issue from tiger and elephant poaching etc. Tigers are now becoming an endangered species, they've never really been hunted responsibly, same with most big game. Therefore when you buy a tiger rug you know that the rug could of come from a mother tiger, possibly with cubs. Animals may not have total rights, and I don't have a problem with my leather belt coming from a cow, because I know cows are farmed, not killed recklessly. But we have a moral responsibility as the dominant species to try and maintain the natural ecosystem and not hunt species to extinction for rugs which could just as easily be made from wool. So your concern is less about animal rights and more about the responsibility we have as the dominant species to protect our enviroment. I can understand and agree with you there. Also no, the rainforest is seldom touched by lumber companies, so don't worry. :P

If half of the world quit eating meat the companies would only have to kill half the animals. True just one person not buying meat dosent make a HUGE difference but it does make a small dent. Also, (trying not to make a huge deal about it since most people already realize it anyway) facts become more believeable with sources.

Not only do I hate vegitables (just realy can't stand 'em :/) but... well, meat is good. And realy, I could care less what happens to an animal. As harsh as that sounds, it's true. You can call me biased because I don't have a pet but eh, I don't realy want one. Too much work.

Barihawk
I am Irish. Some kind of meat and potatoes make up practically every meal in my diet. Animals are granted natural rights. If someone goes out and starts slaughtering animals with a machete whether they be cat or armadillo, it's wrong. In fact, my local police force busted 7 teens who were going around killing cats. It's been 10 years and they are barely halfway through thier jail sentence. As for lab mice and such? As long as they are given painless treatment, I do not mind. I would rather a horrific side-effect of a new drug happen to a lab mouse rather than a hobo who needed money. My heart is broken by the terrible loss I have sustained in my old friends and companions and my poor soldiers. Believe me, nothing except a battle lost can be half so melancholy as a battle won. -Sir Arthur Wellesley
Anesthesia
10 years and they are barely halfway through their sentence? For killing cats? I find that hard to believe, considering the average time served for MURDER OF ANOTHER HUMAN is 12 years in the UK. I state that statistic because you say you are Irish, I don't know how it is in America if you mean you are just of Irish origin. Some people are changed by being a moderator. I wouldn't be. They were malicious killings, and they are actually serving time in a prison for mental cases. Our county had a huge debate over the issue of animal rights and it went to the Texas Supreme Court. Mercifull
You got a source for your claim barihawk? Mercifull <3 Suzi "We don't want players to be able to buy their way to success in RuneScape. Barihawk
You got a source for your claim barihawk? If by that you mean I PM you the case which lists my hometown AND my name on a petition, then yes. By forum rules, no. Is there one needed? My basic premise is that kids went around butchering cats and they went to a mental ward. In addition, thier parents had to pay claim to the 87 families who's cats got killed. Whoo? Anesthesia
87 cats, that would make a lot of stuffed toys. In this country at least, you can be detained indefinitely if you claim insanity. Mercifull
I dont mean a petition, i mean a credible news source or government website outlining the case. Barihawk
Do you have to be a member of Wiki to do it? If so, I don't even want to bother. I get enough spam mail. And I'm lazy. If you really want the case, search the Texas Supreme Court archives. My heart is broken by the terrible loss I have sustained in my old friends and companions and my poor soldiers.
