As some of you may have noticed, your RuneScape accounts have been locked.

 

 

 

This is a security measure by Jagex in order to keep your accounts safe. If you are able to provide the correct information needed to prove ownership of the account, your account should be unlocked shortly after.

 

 

 

Make sure that you have set your recovery questions!

 

 

 

Members (P2P): Please make sure you do have your PIN Number and other information needed in order to recover your account!

 

 

 

Please keep in mind that the Jagex Customer Support is very busy so please be patient. They can only work so quickly and are based in the UK, so those that are living in the US for example may have to wait longer before a response can be given.

How did they actually get our account names to lock them? They just went through the members list? I am having the same problems that a couple of people are having. I send in all of the information I know except the card verification information, because I have already deleted that from my e-mail a long time ago. I always get the same reply, that I haven't given enough information. I have to be honest... I don't want to lose my account after 2 years because people running Tip.it couldn't keep it secure. Don't get me wrong...I am happy they took the time to close accounts so that noone lost anything..but if we can't get it back because of minute details...

Omg !!! complete Panic here I also go to log in and my account was locked .. Took me 3 dang trys to convince Jagez it was my account I was trying to get back,, which is actually a good thing, but a major pain in the ***... Still really do not understand what the heck happen, but dang what a shocker when you can't get into your main account. Still trying to recover my panic attack here :(

How can you confirm this? There is in fact more than one fansite with multiple users...

Yeah, but Tip.It has admitted that information was openly available, and that most people who had an account with them has had their account locked until we can convince them it's us.

 

 

 

What I really think Jagex needs to do is unlock all of our accounts, and ask us to then submit a Password Recovery Query WITHOUT the Card transaction stuff... Right now, Jagex has just killed a bunch of their players for almost no reason, when most of us were having absolutely no problems with our accounts...

 

 

 

Either way, if Jagex doesn't get this fixed soon, they're gonna lose a bunch of players...

here's a question... Does your membership still count down while your account is locked, and if it does, will it renew itself automatically when the time expires...

 

 

 

If it does, then when each of us gets the confirmation e-mail from worldpay, we should be able to get our accounts back.

 

 

 

Jagex should probably just do this.

 

On every member account, add a half month of membership and charge everyone $2.50 (American) so that worldpay will send us an e-mail. This will give us all the account number we need to receive our accounts back (I hope).

I logged in this afternoon and see the message..and I panic. 5 minutes later, with the help of my brother, it's back, and I'm happy. But then around a couple hours later, the same message comes back again! I quickly filled in the whole recover account thing, come back 10 minutes later; and see: DECLINED. I try again, DECLINED. Now I'm panicking..why is it so hard to convince Jagex that this is my account? I'm raising questions in my mind about this..so then I quickly fill it in again with some extra added details, and I see 5 minutes later: ACCEPTED. Finally. Is it really that hard to convince someone that nobody stole your account? Wasted a day.

I think that's the same thing, just use that one. It works, just go on the main menu; on the left side click on "Recover a locked account", use that link, it will take you to a Password Support page, that's the one you should use.

Yeah but on that screen you have 1 of 3 options. Either you forgot your password, someone has changed your password, or someone knows your recovery questions. What am I supposed to fill out? I have absolutely no clue since none of those is true.

I've been putting recovery question, although it might be "someone has changed my password..." I'm gonna go try the other 2 real quick...

Finally I'd like to reassure users that our own security has in no way been compromised. As long as your RuneScape password is unique there is no risk from this.

Most people haven't been keeping track of their Credit Card transaction number, so that means that they just locked probably about 500 accounts with no way of them being reactivated.

My account was locked as well, I filled out the recover locked account form, and was told that I lacked sufficient proof, then I continued to customer support and was granted my account back within a minute. Scary.

how are you getting to recover locked account?

ok, here's what I think everyone needs to do. When you post on here, if you have the Agreement Number, Transaction ID, and the PIN number that it asks for, please state so that the rest of us aren't going "how the heck did he get his account back?"

So if you've used the same password on RuneScape and an external fansite then change your RuneScape password now. Otherwise you might just login and find all your items gone.

 

 

 

They again forgot to mention your account will be locked, and you won't be able to log on...
