Well.. I graduated all 4 years of high school with a 3.0 / 3.1 GPA. But I don't do much work at all.

a 3.0 is B's, and 2.0 is C's. So you proably had mostly C's and B's.It's not bad, but not good realy...

To me, 3 and lower is bad...

This year I got 3.92 .08 from Principals Honor Roll...WTF! (But It's 8th grade, so its easier)

I had probably a 3.4, which i wasn't that proud of, and about a 3.95 weighted (counting AP and honors classes for a little more :))

So don't feel horrible about yourself, and don't let your GPA define you... but there's always room for improvement!!

Everybody hug and spread the love :D

my 9th grade gpa was above a 4 (don't really want to tell everyone wat it was, im a tad personal about my grades), but thats besides the point. You really should aim for 3.0, and i know you can do it. Just put some effort into it, do your hw and such. A 3.0 is definetly in your reach and is a very respectable gpa.

2.7 gpa means, "Stop playing RS, start studying." :P

What is 2.7...Like a C- average?

I dunno, my school didn't use 4.0 system, they used a 11.0 system (wtf...) for some reason. I never understood it either. One year I got an A, some B's and some C's and I had a 5.7 or something out of 11. That's 50%. That's failing. I've never failed anything...Ever... :?

I'm not a big fan of GPA's. They're used to turn people into numbers and tools to make the administration look good.

Unfortunately, no matter how much that sucks, they're still important. Getting into college and possibly getting some scholarship money is kinda important.

That said, I've got a pretty good GPA. I'm just not a big fan of the system. But try hard, it could help you out.

I know you can do it, i know botanreaper can do it. Doing well in school is a choice you have to make. It is something that in the end, believe or not, will make you happier. Don't do it for you parents necessarly, because these 4 years could decide how you will spend the rest of your life. 2.0 + gpa is usualy of kid that has the potential, but is just lacking the drive.

Schools aren't even judged by GPA's so I don't know how they make the administration look good. Schools get judged by their AP scores and the scores on their Standardized Tests...GPA's are purely for students.

Rank. If a school can say, "We have n% of kids over 3.5" it presents the school in a positive light to nearly everyone. Usually, when a school has a high percentage of students over, say, 3.5, it means one of two things--the school is excellent, or it has terrible grade inflation. :P

you are right they don't judge gpa, nor AP (i don't know where you got that, i didn't even send my school my AP scores till after i got accepted). But schools judge class rank, which is based on gpa, and therefor is pretty much the same thing. Your gpa does matter because schools look at both.

No I mean that the school administrators aren't judged by their student's GPA's. Last year Newsweek released a list of the top 1000 schools in the United States and it was all based on AP testing attendance and scores.

End of '05 I had a 3.554 Cumulative GPA. Pretty [cabbage] really.

I'm hoping for a 4.5 or close to it the end of this year :-?

Edit: I better mention now that:

High Distinction (HD) = 7

Distinction (D) = 6

Credit © = 5

Pass (P) = 4

Pass Conceded (PC) = 3

Fail (F) = 1.5

Fail Non Submittal (FNS) = 0

Withdraw with Failure (WF) = 0

Term GPA is the average of the above individual gpa for taken subjects / number of subjects taken for that term.

Cumulative GPA is the same, but / number subjects taken total.

Basically what I was saying is it let's the administrators profile you. Once they know who's going to make them look good often times they'll bend over backward to further that.

And I just looked up the newsweek list. It's based on AP tests TAKEN divided by the number of graduating seniors. That's basically a bogus number. The crappiest school in the country could have everyone take AP tests if they felt like it.

Hence, in my area, it puts Sumner Academy at 75 :P They're... Not that good.

all of the schools in my county ranked. RANK 52 i love the grade inflation at my school though because if we did not have it then i would have a 2.5 gpa. all the freaks at my school are perfectionist so i have a shiity class rank.

I love high school GPAs. It makes me laugh just thinking about it, ahahaha.

In high school, I had a cumulative 3.5GPA. I didn't really try very hard -- I'm sure I could have gotten a 3.8 if I had tried a bit harder. Lowest I ever got in a quarter was a 2.7; that was when I was in my emo stage. I step into college, do 4-5x more work than I did in all four years of high school, and I get a 2.7GPA for my freshman year. I've learned since then and have boosted my GPA to 3.1.

Anyone ever wonder how American students would be doing if our standards were of another country? Say.. Belgium? Or Japan?

Like if they just switched overnight? We would probably do very poorly, I don't think we have very high standards in America.

I got like a 3.4 GPA in Highschool, not the greatest but I was quite a slacker and often didn't do homework.

My Freshman year of college I got a 3.35 average which is pretty good, considering I took Calc I and Calc II, glad I got those over with. I also was second in the most promising Freshman Chemists amongst a poll of the Chemistry Faculty.
