Staking ruined?

What do you think of the staking at the moment?

 

I think it is horrible... Lets start.

 

Boxing - Everyone x'logs if they're gonna lose. Wouldn't be that hard to code it that if you're in the duel arena in a duel and disconnect, you either automatically lose that duel (maybe unfair for those with bad connections) OR that your character stays online UNTILL the duel is over (recommended).

 

 

 

Prayer - Now this is very much fced up... if prayer is allowed, everyone uses protection prayers... meaning that it's useless to duel unless you're atleast 43 prayer. Many ppl dont want to get that high prayer. Why cant you have protect from prayers as a submenu for prayer so you can turn normal prayers on and have protect prayers off.

 

 

 

Pots - I haven't really tried this that much but what i've understood, sara brew counts as a pot so in a no food duel with pots on... ppl have sara brews, KEWL!

 

 

 

Armours cant be all on since it goes to veracs everytime if all armours are on. So it has to be no helmet or something like that... also the armours with this kind of set bonuses makes them a bit too good... also, ranged is "useless" in duels with bow. WHAT IS THE NORMAL STYLE OF RANGED ATTACKS? SHOOTING SOMEONE WITH A BOW. Now its either knives/darts/rings. It's stupid since those dudes can use a shield to get superb def bonuses (x-specially crystal shield) compared to those using bows... oh well, bows r good for nothing now.

 

 

 

What else? if you got something to diss about staking, please do so. Also, since i dont want this to be too negative... if you got something to praise in staking please do so too.

I only agree with yo on your first point, the rest just seems to be complaining about the rules, which you have to find best to suit your levels.

how come the rest of my pointings "dont have a point". Basically, there is just ONE STYLE TO USE in every "combat style" @ stakes. Blood spells with magic on... veracs in armours on, knives/darts/rings/karils on ranged on...

 

Meaning there is only a little variety in dueling styles, you can't really invent new styles since someone using these will bash you.

And to you, i forgive you on your comment while you clearly don't have a clue whats going on. Yes, i've lost but yes, i've won too? Probably won more then you'd ever have on your "rs life". I used to "love" staking, especially in the rsc times but found it quite fun too when rs2 was released. Now, its stupid. They bring new items to the game without making any adjustments to their staking system which is getting old and was created without those items in game, thus giving "unfair" advantage to those able to use these new thingies... Best example was when DT came out... few "low" lvl ppl with magic completed dt and just took over duel arena.

i agree with number one but for example

 

if some uses sara brews you use sara brews or turn off pots and food

 

if you dont like prayer turn off prayer

actually I'll agree with you on one of your other points. Prayer is really annoying. Using protect from malee/range/magic is just a waste of time. you are just there fighting for two minutes until prayer runs out. I rarely duel, but if I duel one of my friends, then I never switch prayer off, but I'll use the strength/reflexes prayers to help with my duel, never the protect ones. It would be nice if you could switch off just protect prayers for the duel arena.

I will agree with you that the duel areana has its flaws, and plenty of them, BUT...

 

 

 

People will ALWAYS find way around things. It happens in real life, just like it will happen in a game. If someone can find a way to exploit something, like the Sara Brew thing for example, they will.

 

 

 

Personally, I think the whole duel system is horrible aside from all those ways people use to get an advantage. Why? Becauseim 118 combat and a lvl 80 can beat me occassionally, and a lvl 100 can beat me like 40% of the time. But then we also got the fact that at 109 combat I beat a 126 15 times IN A ROW.

 

These are fun duels, NOT for money, and no one is using set specials, food, pots or anything like that, its simply for fun. This is why I have never considered staking, because if i have this much trouble with the combat system in a fair fight, whats it gona be like when someone tries to use flaws in the system to their advantage?

 

 

 

I say just use my ways if you think the duel areana is messed up....dont stake :D

I just recently reported this bug to Jagex but here I go:

 

 

 

So heres me, at the duel arena, pretty happy because im up on staking using my sweet 92 magic spell Blood Barrage that I had just reached the day before. I see this person with 78 mage (forgot the combat level, was probably arond level 80), and I immediatly stake her, i put up my whip, she puts up 1.3m (i was doubling her).

 

 

 

She cancels the duel and goes "1 sec" i think it's nothing and make sure when she duels again that she changed NONE of the rules. Well the duel starts, im hitting ok, then she starts hitting 27's and 28's with her god spells when shes only 78!!! So i figured out she must of used a mage pot to charge before the duel and the charge still remained....

 

 

 

Well, i ended up losing, which meaned i lost my whip to someone with 14 lower mage levels, and alot of lower hp and def levels

 

 

 

What further proved my point was her sitting by the chests in the duel arena shouting "Buying mage pot 30k!!!" :roll: :roll:

What you fail to realize is that in a click-and-slash game like Runescape, there will ALWAYS be one efficient way to do something. No matter what adjustments Jagex makes, the players will (very quickly) figure out the new best way to do whatever it is they want to do. So I guess yeah, there's little variety, but that's just the way it is, and the way it has to be.

IMO, you're a lil over 2 years behind, staking's been ruined since rsc died. Since you can't duel anywhere...it sucks, and the duel arena is chockfilled with noobs lvl 48-70 who won't stake over 10k. My friend used to stake 500k+ on his lvl 48 dmed staker with r2h....both staking and pking is ruined so I've turned towards the all 99 goal to make any fun come out of this game

I'd rather just a no poison weapon option. I've had enough people put up a decent fight, then whip out a dds, then poison the life out of me :?

You're a moron. Spend more than 10 minutes at the arena, and try actually staking. Only noobs use pots on, so forget about that. Most mage/range stakers also do armor off so that it's not about who has the best armor that wins. I am a box staker, and that's what I always aimed for. Out of my time box staking, I've never had someone x out on me in a fight even when I win with 30-40+ HP and they could have tried it at least. It just doesn't work like that.
