gunshafted
i realised something today... right now i have items in excess of 15 mill, and all my goals revolve around money... its sickening in so many ways, but i didnt realise it until today. about half way through my membership, i switched to low detail, as high was getting too laggy to play, for about 1 year, i have been playing rs with no music whatsoever, except that of my own mp3. about 2 weeks ago, i took the advice of someones sig on these forums and dowloaded a file with every single rs midi on it, and for 2 weeks i ignored them... today, i am fishing. the most boring skill imaginable, but i need some monkfish. i see the songs on my desktop, ad think "what the heck, lets listen to some rs" hours and hours went by and i flicked through the songs, fanfare, fishing, beyond, contest, and with every song i listened to, a memory came back... my first lobster cought, my completion of the trip past white wolf mount, killing darkwizards and finishing my first quests. each of these songs hit me in the heart, and as i hummed to the melodies, in all seriousness, they brought a tear to my eye... my point is... the commercialisation of rs, the fact that all we do now is make money, has clouded the reason we started. my advice to you is, one day, scroll through some classic songs: flute salad, newbie melody, and see if anything comes back, i dont know about you, but reliving those memories was a great experience for me. just my two cents. ~Gun~ siggity siggity shwa

evilboy1034
I agree, many people play just for money. I've been playing because the people. Reading your post brought back memories of the things you had mentioned. Lol.

I wouldn't of gone that far. I mean I know what you mean, but it's just midi music... No longer playing Runescape, I caught the WoW bug.

Steel_tide
i kinda agree- altho i dont do stuff to make money really- its the fact i always know what im gonna do and have goals etc- the sense of adventure was lost ages ago. It was more fun when i was wandering around rs with a rl mate all that time ago in rsc, not knowing where we were going etc, doing random quests and killing stuff. 118+ combat1730+ total85 slayer95 mage94 range
zach312
I can't really relate, as RSC had a whopping 3 sound effects in total. One was a high clinging noise, one was a low clinging noise, and the last sounded somewhat like a dying moose. Mugutu
WARnold
I don't think you mean what you just typed in the title. Look up commercialization in a dictionary mate. Other than that, having high levels comes with needing more money, so I don't really see your point either.
yomom1919
i make pures just to be a noob again, but its definitely not the same. ps: may i suggest a title change to something like "the good old times"? i thought this was another one of those "rs economy" junk posts, and i wanst gona click it. but i decided to. anyway. kido14
I've never listened to any of the RS music. I tried playing on high detail to listen to some music and just enjoy the game Jagex created to have fun, but I didn't enjoy it so much. So even if I did listen to all of the music again, it wouldn't bring back any memories, as I wasn't a noob when RS2 came out, and I was used to listening to my own music as I did on RSC. i123i
this happens to me except with actual songs which will remind me of what I used to do. When I used to train at Ice Giants back in RSC I'd load up Yahoo's Launch and listen to this 1 specific song over and over for 2-3 hours. Another song my friend was playing when I went over to his house and we played RS for the first time there and he was ranging; that song strikes the same cord in my mind and heart. Course my Ipod is loaded with songs now plus with me playing so many hours per day playing to get money(even my combat training to become a staker revolves around money) that I don't get these moments anymore. jaoxim
i had that a while back, i was Fishing and decided to flick through my music list and it brought back good memories, reminding me of the humble roots that every runescape player starts from :)

inferno_140
now i remember the days back when i walked trough lumbridge... attacking cows and goblins ... really good memories , when evry1 was alot nicer No offence but you must not think of people the way i do. If somone is nice you focus on them, not the bad. Focusing on the bad just makes EVERYTHING degrade as much as the bad people, dont dwell on bad things, just the good as this person has. You may say "z0mg 1ts t3h sam3!!1" its not, it really is not. ~/~ Inferno ~/~

I haven't been to barrows, kq or kbd yet, so they'll prolly be huge adventures for me too  When I lost my p2p last time, I used to listen to p2p musics again and again. Especially Ardougne and Port Phasmatys musics were great ^_^

la la la
Harmony and Autumn Voyage bring back the memories of raising my first skill, mining. I didn't even know how to raise my combat level at the time (RS2 beta had just come out).
Dakine600
This may sound really weird but my first day of playing runescape happened to be the christmas of 2001, when they had the party hat drop, I had gotten BOD cologne that day from my uncle for christmas. Everytime I smell that cologne I remember back to those good ol' days when Id get jelous when my friend had a wooden shield and I had a bronze square, lol. Good times man...
