What Makes You Come Back...

Featured Replies

Well, thats my question. And I really want to know why everyone who plays RuneScape come back day after day to gain another mining level or kill a dragon or two. I mean, take a look on the Rants board and you will see what i mean. All the problems people say they have to put up with, but as they're writing that they are already back on RuneScape hacking away at a dragon or demon somewhere in the Brimhaven dungeon.

Look at it this way. I was mining today in the dwarven mines, and i got 2 M.O.M, and 2 Sandwich Lady. During that time, i had to deal with countless people yelling at me for mining faster than them, and one person who kept claiming his friend was a mod and in the guild. Then he calimed his friend was JaGeX staff... At that point, my second sandwich lady kicked in, and by accident i clicked the wrong food. I then got teleported somewhere near Lumbridge. I didn't have the runes for Fally teleport on me, so I logged out. But tommorrow i'll be back on for the T.E.T event, and more mining.

It's events like this that make you want to quit, but you keep coming back, even when you lose your best items or even get hacked. :ohnoes:

So i ask again. What is it that makes you come back to a game which can make you feel so screwy? :-k

I'm suffering the same lag as you. I was meant to lock this one and keep the other. But I'll keep this one instead at your request.

Wow, I thought it was just my computer that was laggy today. Anywas, I play mostly to talk with my friends and just have fun, also to train skills. ::'

Another thing to consider is the exaggeration factor. Simply put, RuneScape isn't nearly as bad a game (nor Jagex as bad a company) as people make it out to be. Humans often have a tendency to "make a mountain out of a mole hill".

Just a few people are whining, and hundreds of thousands are enjoying the game every day. So...

Hey, im not whining, if that's what you mean, im just asking peoples fav part of RuneScape, and the reasons the come back after some of the whining people beat up on em.

I personally come back for COMBAT, and the holiday items too \'

Play for a few mins after you've been without it for several months and you get back into it quick. Don't know exactly what it is :-k

What keeps me coming back is everything but the autoers, noobs and scammers.

Take that away and that's my world.

I'm a dream world, so what? I enjoy it.

Runescape is just too addictive

Strangely with WotLK so near, I wished I could delay it a bit to push through that last TBC content in MH/BT :'(.

For me, the reason is actually quite easy to pin down; I've got almost nothing better to do with my leisure time. When I'm tired and don't feel like loading up something that I have to think about like Halo or Warcraft, but I want to do something a little deeper than Solitaire, I load up RuneScape. RS is unique because you can derive the exact level of immersion out of it that you want; whether it's the super-micro-management of merchanting or something mindless like Essence mining, you can get exactly what you want. Well, except for maybe blowing away people with a rocket launcher, but that would be a little out-of-period. Then again, there are Multi-Cannons and Ice Barrages that could fit that particular need...

I think it's that you think to yourself that you worked too hard on that account for just nothing. Are you going to let that happen to you? No, probably not. BAM your back in the game.

back to rs, i guess. it's been 4 months.

RSN:P H Osho <- gonna start on him soon, fresh.

Yep. For me it's partly that, and partly addiction. :P

Well it is usually the friendly people I see everyday. No not the ones on the street, the ones on my friends list.

Yes, once you 'Quit', stay away from it. Just 5 minutes of playing casually can get you hooked all over again, what always makes me come back is boredom and friends.

Returned to Runescape June 2011 after a 3 year break :)

The friends that will come and help you out no matter what they are doing for you. Thats the best part of this game, friendship :)

What makes me come back? Hmm...well, the fact that I know someone (actually hundreds of thousands) is better than me and due to my competitive spirit, I can't have that. I don't know about Zezima or N0valyfe, but I like competition.!

same. i set a goal, i achieve it but then after that i still want to advance a couple more levels.
