Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann is the best series I have ever ever seen, by far. Nothing else even comes close to how awesome it is. I loved every minute. and the ending was so, incredibly moving.

The Full Series

I dont know if that violates the rules, but it deserves to be left up.

Any anime fan that's past elementary level is sad.

Harry Potter is an elementary level book. Would you call the millions of high school and beyond people who read it sad?

For anyone who's watched Death Note (and/or read the manga, though that's not important here), listen to these dubbed voices, and try not to kill yourself when you hear Light's:

DN [Dub] Trailer 3

I may just go rant on the [as] forums, gotta make an account though >_>. I love Death Note and all, but cutting off Bleach at Episode 52 is a crime. Again, couldn't they have waited until the fillers >_<?

Sadly, it seems like everyone, even people with frikkin' Bleach avatars, are for it on the [as] board. Oi.

....Holy [cabbage] Light's voice is bad. :XD: :XD: :XD: They just effectively killed dubbed Death Note well, not really, but his voice [bleep]ing sucks

[AS] didn't cancel bleach on saturdays, I saw a preview for a new episode this saturday.(it showed that pink haired girl(forgot name) pulling that bald guys(forgot name) so it looks like hes smiling, but hes really P.Oed.

If that didn't make sense, or it is an old ep, please hit me with a baseball bat. #-o

T_T I was waiting so long for the dubbed version of the climax Soul Society Arc fight, and now I have to wait basically another year for it T_T.

If I recall, episode 51 is Hitsugaya-certain evil characters based, but there may have been a scene with Yachiru (pink haired girl) and Ikkaku Madarame (bald spear dude) in that episode. She messes with him a lot ^_^.

As to your point, Death Note starts on October 20th, after Bleach 52. Which is hilarious, considering the fact that Bleach 52 and 53 are connected in one hour long episode. What are they guna do, cut the episode in half, ending it right in the middle? That'd be hilarious.

And by hilarious, I mean frikkin' hella annoying as $*&%.

Fullmetal Alchemist, you will be missed. A great ending to a great series.

Giving this thread a little nudge.

I finally found another good anime I enjoy, Death Note. Wasn't exactly like I expected but its fracking brilliant.

Only on like EP10 though so don't ruin anything for me. :P

Other than that what could you guys suggest me? I don't like the cheesy crap like FMA or bleach, but rather something that seems to be set in a bit more realistic time (Blood+, Death Note) and doesn't have a bunch of super powered dudes running around.

Welcome to the NHK, it's not so fracking awesome as DN but it's worth a try.

I mean, what kind of college student doesn't slack off uni, watch 'adult stuff' and eat pizza all the time?!

And if you're a fan of beautifully drawn anime, I recommend 5 Centimeters per Second

Who's calling FMA cheesy? It doesn't have a bunch of super powered dudes running around, it's more or less like what you said you were looking for, except it's not set on Earth. . . at least, not exactly.

Well, I watched the first episode of Death Note on AS Saturday. It was pretty good, I think I'll make a habit of it. Oh, and I've never seen it subbed, so whatever you guys are moaning about Light's voice is lost on me  .

And I've watched Bleach up to date now. I like it, but there are some problems with it. Like Nadril said, I'm not too incredibly fond of the superpowered dudes running around. Mainly because it creates the inevitable paradox where some new bad guy comes along that is more powerful than Ichigo, so he has to become stronger in order to defeat him. Then, when another new bad guy comes, he has to be stronger yet again to be able to pose a threat to Ichigo, and yet again Ichigo must become stronger. Eventually, it starts to kill the show. Thankfully Bleach hasn't moved through these stages quite as fast as say, DBZ (that got so ridiculous, my God), so it's still workable.

Another problem I've had with it is that the creator has wayyyyyy to soft of a heart. And by that, I mean that he can't suck it up and freakin' let one of his characters die. Seriously, at this point, every one of the main fighting characters has been mortally wounded at least once, most several times (most notably Renji and Ichigo), but each and every time they have somehow survived. It gets so old. I mean, several fights have been robbed of their sense of satisfaction by the survival of the defeated, who was laying there in a pool of blood and looked like he should have died five times already. And the one guy that actually looked dead and seemed to be so for several episodes turns out to not only be alive, but have a major role. Maybe this wouldn't have looked so bad if it weren't alongside all the other non-deaths, but with them it only adds to the irritation.

And finally, filler. Half of the show is filler, it's sad. It was going great at the beginning, uninterrupted by any major filler all the way through the Soul Society Arcs. And then, ~50 straight episodes of filler. After all that, you would think they have enough manga material to work with now, but no. It makes it like 10-15 episodes and then more filler. And then like 7 eps, and now it's at filler again. Needless to say I skipped them, but when you look at the episode count for the first time and see 140 something, you think you're in for a great time. And then you find out a good portion of them are filler.

Don't get me wrong, it's a great show, but there are some irritants, more so than any of the other ones I've watched.

Hmm, I've always wanted to start watching Bleach, but this is really making me consider it. I've seen this not only on tv, but also in books; too many or too blatant Deus-ex-machina events or too many filler parts kill the story. Can I get a second opinion on this?

Want some of the most awesome battle scenes in anime? Watch Bleach.

Want an interesting plotline, good characters, a unique story, suspense, and a deep meaning behind the anime? Er, watch something else.

Bleach is great for the fight scenes, especially when Ichigo unexpectedly obliterates enemies that get in his way (three one-handed lietenant instant KO's :XD: ), but there isn't much past that. Way too many damn characters (kill 'em off!), one of the slowest plotlines in anime, and really nothing beyond the blades. It's a fun show, but if you want something deeper, try FMA, Death Note, animes of that sort.

Not Naruto. Stay away from Naruto, please.

Yeah, stay away from Naruto if possible.

And DBZ - there's no need to watch hundreds of episodes when you can watch newer ones.

General rule of thumb:

Watch a series once, and after you finish...

Find A new one and don't look back.

Wow, never seen this board before... I've been watching Naruto and Bleach for the moment and I'm up to date on both of them. I've just finished watching Death Note, probably the best anime series I've ever seen. Light and L were creepily smart... :ohnoes: Anyway, I'm gonna start watching a new anime series soon and I need some advice, Blood+ or FMA? I've watched a couple of random episodes of FMA on AdultSwim and it seemed okay, but I've never seen Blood+. What do you guys think?
