woopidoo2
Quite a difficult story to type, ill try to anyway. My dad has got a new job after working 21 years at a company, now hes working at a company called GMI music, they sell cds from gospel/chirstian artists (Like Island Records, Epitaph Records, Interscope records etc) Every now and then, he gets free cds and dvds (6-10 a week or so), all gospel/christian music cds. Now Im a big fan of Red Hot Chili Peppers, so that kind of music doesnt really fit togheter O:) . Offcourse my dad wants me to listen to Christian music music, and he doesnt really support my music taste. I tried listening to some artists, but I just dont like that kind of music at all. My dad also said, gospel artists/christian music artists are in the top 10 list of America, that its normal to have gospel artists in the top 10. (In Holland you wont see any gospel artists in the top 10) My questions, Who knows some good Christian Artists, Rock as genre? Should I stick to the music I listen to now? Is it true, that gospel artists in America are really that populair? Thanks for reading, help me out! : [http://woopidoo2.deviantart.com][Tip.it Moderator from Dec 10, 2006 to 03 Sep, 2008]
Guest XplsvBam
I doubt gospel music is that popular in america but christian music is for sure. P.O.D. Relient K Switchfoot Are all really popular or were at one point in america and have radio time on sectual stations. Very good illustration to how important christian beliefs are relavent to life. Mercifull
Not really my thing. Its better than Christian Rock though, the lyrics are always so forced. Guest XplsvBam
and what about Third Day? thats the closest to my kind of music so far What about them? Hawk Nelson and Thousand Foot Krutch are both pretty good. If you like rap John Ruben is awesome. If you like metal Skillet is good. Some christian groups get really popular. Like relient k is so popular they sell there cds at hollister..

Oy_the_Great
There are many good singer-songwriters that sing about their believes. Sufjan Stevens sings a lot about his faith, which is Christianity. Then there's a load of artists who don't sing about the Lord, but about what they believe in, what they experience as their religion. Almost all older generation singer-songwriters had some songs with a religious touch, of which there are hundreds of very influential and good songs. And since all vibrations are theoretically sound, then it is not unreasonable to suggest that the universe is music and should be perceived as such. Anesthesia
slick shoes nor MxPx are christian, however they do have a religion Err, MxPx started out as a christian band. The reason why most christian music is bad is because I think they set out as christian first, music second. Some people are changed by being a moderator. I wouldn't be. -mbball-
I've recently got into some bands that my parents probably would not support me listening to seeing as my family is a christian family. But, I still have some of the best songs of christian artists in my iTunes collection. One of the best bands is Switchfoot imo. In fact just the other day I heard one of Switchfoot's most famous song playing in hollister. It was called I Dare You to Move. In this song it basicly says I dare you to move but it doesn't say anything about God, which is something that's gonna get non religous into their music and listening to it. I'd consider their music more motivational then Christian. There's also many other slower christian bands that are really really religous and slow. My dad listens to those and I get annoyed by them. ^Thank you Despaxes for the sig

Mercifull
I agree with the pople that are saying there are some really great Christian artists but i dont classify them as Christian rock. I guess you count the Killers as a Christian band, I really like them and saw them live? The reason why i dont like Christian rock is because the lyrics tend to force religion and God into the song rather than truely singing from the heart. You dont need to sing about God and Jesus every other line to have faith and real feeling into your songs Mercifull <3 Suzi "We don't want players to be able to buy their way to success in RuneScape.
