there are 22 skills... and you have legends/obby cape, that makes ?24? capes for ppl like zezima... where do you store so much capes?

Also in October, Player-Owned Houses will get their first update since launch, with the all new costume room! Build magic wardrobes and treasure chests, and free up some space in the bank! Players will be able to store all their favourite random event costumes, special treasure trail outfits and even some of the odd little toys they've picked up on your travels over the years. More information will follow later this month.

If anyone remembers me... PM ME. having nostaligia issues D:

I think that you meant to quote this

As well as all of your funky costumes, the POH addition will also be able to store one of our other releases this month... the awe inspiring ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¦Ã¢â¬ÅCapes of Achievement̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬ÃâÃ

MY question is: Is clicking in front of the computer for countless hours really worth that pixel cape and the title of geek from the irl friends you have on runescape?

Let's think about this for a second. If capes never came out, people who have level 99's in something, would it change anything? The player would still have the same stats. How would a cape make a person a geek? I guess now that everybody can see it? But if you can see it or not, it doens't change the fact.

And for people who are getting lv 99. Yes, more people will work for level 99, but regardless or not, eventually the person would've still reached lv 99.

Theese capes arent really meant so much for their bonuses, as to just show off your stats. You shouldnt really have many [developmentally delayed]s tell you that you have no life unless you go on a f2p server. Sure theyll last, what would you rather wear then a lvl 99 cape? exept for a fire cape ofcourse...

If you got a fire cape people would think you had some fun killing stuff.... But come on oh yeah you can click on the same few spots for hours on end, Amazing! And ooh yeah you spent a few million pixel money achieving it too... achievement indeed...

of course there going to last, generally the people who are going to have these capes are going to be high lvls anyway, so they would have all ready suffered abuse for playing a game  they will be used to being called geeks or no lifers. they wont care and will ignore these comments the capes are a way to show off and MOST people :shame: would respect that and not insult them.

Why do you post achievements in your sig ? Would be just as 'geeky' as a lvl 99-skiller showing his achievement inside the game (according to you) except of course for the time the 99-er has spent on the skill, which makes him/her the geek.

As long as new people will get lvl 99 skills, they'll be getting one, even if only for just the heck of it. They're here to stay till the next fad.

No im not calling people with lvl 99 skills geeks, but that is what a vast majority of the rs community will look at it as... You know its the truth. Is a cape worth being called a geek and no lifer all the time?

People should be proud on their 99 skills, and those people who say NO LIFER..or somthing like that, are JEALOUS!
One way of looking at it, but the other way is... it reflects how much time you put into the game... Now i dont know about you but i dont want people to know that ive been playing for a bit over a year....

Why not? I've been playing since around 1 week b4 p hats came out and I'm proud of it... I don't care how many people make fun of me for having such a low lvl and been playing for so long...*points to n00by sig*

And I'll wear my mage cape (goal is by next june) with pride. \'

For myself I haven't had anyone call me a nolifer/geek when ppl ask me about lvl 99 skills. The say 'wow' or 'cool' and quickly move on to whatever is next on their agenda. It's usually followed by how long I've played the game and that's it. I don't remember it ever turning into a no-life insulting game (and you do get asked alot on any average day).

And yes, it's worth it having that cape for myself, as in being reminded that I spent all that trouble, clicking away and having fun doing it, achieved a goal I've set. Like I said in a previous post: the insulting kiddies are one click away from the off-button. Turn computer off and I've forgotten all about them.

Reading through these 3 pages I've made a conclusion: Flame_guy3 you are jealous because you are so freaking far away of getting a 99 skill cape yourself. All you post on this thread is that people getting 99 in a skill-> a cape, are geeks and will be called no lifers. No way. If you see a person with a party-hat you don't call him no lifer though he may have spent months/years working to get it. Same goes for the cape. I would say: "hey man, cool cape and 99 X-SKILL".

Capes don't really give people a need or desire for getting 99 in a skill. The capes are just an extra bonus for people reaching their goals.

I think of it this way: I may spend hours on this game, but still I don't see it as being more worse that watching tv instead. Or reading a book. As long as I don't play 5 hours a day. RS is my way of relaxing :)

Let's hope these capes provide what people hope for. However, I do think there is going to be backlash from lower level players about the no lifing thing. I mean, if you just started a few months ago and you have a 99...

Currently P2P.

I don't want the world to see me, 'cause I don't think that they'd understand.

What you said was clearly an opinion, not a fact. I find lvling up far more fun than quests, and I would be surprised if I ever complete all quests. I know that I will have at least 1 99 before that and very likely 4-6 more.

And as far as no lifing goes, who cares? Sure I play this game a lot, but only between school, homework, sports etc.

I'm not really complaining about this, but they WILL lose their luster just like the legends/gods capes did. Back when they were released anyone who had one was elite... You hardly get recognition from it anymore. :P

Any low level players who call those who did get the capes having no lives are just envious. I've been playing for almost five years now and still don't have a skill above 80, but I'm glad they finally released something tangible for the 99ers to show their work.

I'm sure Musashi, Zonghui and Bluerose would wear theirs with pride if they still played. ::'
