1.0 Introduction

The POH should be more versatile. Sure, combat and games rooms are great when having friends around but what about something to do when on your own? Why don't we make homes more useable? With the New Skill Room, I believe it will keep people using their POH.

2.0 Overview

These new skill rooms are quite different to the skill hall currently used in the POH. Instead of putting up trophies to show your skills, this room lets you USE your skills. To make it fair, you can only have one style of skill room at a time. When you choose to build this room, you also choose what kind of skill you want to use in the room. I'm still undecided whether or not the items in the room will cost money or not.

3.0 Skill Rooms

When building your new skill room, you can choose from one of the following options.

3.1 Mining and Smithing

This room, obviously, lets you mine and smith. The room will contain one furnace, one anvil and *undecided* ore rocks. You can place any ore in this room. You will require eight of each ore (100 as suggested by dragondanro) plus 4 clay (maybe a fee as well.) for each ore. For example, 1 coal rock requires 8 coal, 4 clay (and maybe a fee) Once the ore is mined, you can then smelt in in your furnace, then make armour using the anvil. To create a furnace, you will need 10 steel bars. For an anvil, you will need 5 iron bars. 10 Construction will let you place copper and tin ore, 20 construction lets you place iron ore, 30 Construction lets you place coal and so on, right up to 60 Construction for Rune Rocks.

(As suggested by dragondanro: 10 Construction for copper and tin, 25 Construction for Iron, 35 Construction for Coal, 50 Construction for Mithril, 70 Construction for Adamant and 85 Construction for Rune.) They also require their mining lvl to be placed in your house.

3.2 Fishing

Another choice for your skill room, fishing. This room will contain a small tool store similar to the one in the workshop that contains fishing equipment. There are 3 types of ponds, small pond, medium pond and large pond. Small pond holds 2 fishing spots, medium 3 fishing spots and large 4 fishing spots. Small ponds require 2 soft clay and 4 buckets of water, meduim ponds require 4 soft clay and 8 buckets of water and large ponds require 6 soft clay and 12 buckets of water. To stock a fishing spot with water, you have to place 5 fish of your choice in each one. You must have the fishing lvl to fish these fish to place them in your pond. A new 'fish cage' can be used to obtain live fish, each cage holds 5 fish. Small ponds require 20 Construction, medium ponds require 40 Construction and large ponds require 60 Construction.

3.3 Woodcutting and Fletching

This choice for your skill room will be simpler than the above mentioned skills. You can grow an *undecided* amount of trees and 3 or 4 flax plants. To grow trees, you follow the same procedure as it is done in a garden. Flax plants will also follow a similar system. You can also build a spinning wheel, which requires 5 oak planks. A small tool store also features here, which contains a knife and you can store any axe, but you must have the axe in your inventory, then you place it on your tool store.

3.4 Farming

Also another simple option. This includes a tool store which contains all the farming necessities. You can grow 1 of the following: tree or fruit tree. You can grow 2 of the following: allotment or hops. You can have 1 herb patch and 1 flower patch per garden.

3.5 Crafting

I'm not too sure about how this would work. Any posts on how it should be set up would be greatly appreciated.

4.0 FAQ

Questions will be answered here.

5.0 Additions

As dragondanro suggested, he said that for each ore rock it should require 100 ore instead of 8. It has been added in brackets, more comments on this to finalise the decision would be great.

6.0 Conclusion

Well, thats my ideas for a new skill room. Feel free to post CONSTRUCTIVE criticism. Needless flaming and spam will be reported. Feel free to debate the topic, but be nice. Also feel free to post any additions you think could be added.

Thanks.

PS: I know I'm not very arty, but I created a sig anyway. Put this in your sig!

well that ore should be different...

if its mith 100 mith ores thats per mith ore you want

and for mith ores maybe 50 construction for rune ores 85 for addy 70 construction that sounds more reasonable

Not neccesarily. Remember that it is fairly hard to bank in a POH unless you have your servant do it for you. You should also need a high smithing level to be able to make the furnace work for those kind of ore. Also, since a rune rock requires 100 rune to make and takes half an hour to respawn with only a few points to place rocks, i don't think it's going to make things that easier.

:shame:

thou must combine the mining, smithing and crafting areas into one area, the spinning wheel, water place, a clay mine (basic hotspot), a tool spot (with basic spots for mining, crafting and a hammer included)

the ores within must be replenished per 100 ores, or less (perhaps the amount of ores required) and when the ores are out, you have a basic clay rock

also, thou must have a runecrafting training technique, perhaps requiring 50 construction due to the fact that this idea will include portals to all portals which do not need quests to access or are too close (no law altar then...). there would also be a rune essence hotspot, requiring 1000 of eiter type of rune essence)

the portals will require: all these and 5 talismans

  •
AIR: 5 talismans (5 as the amount of magical power to create a entrance into non-existance will be giant), 10 law runes, 100 air runes

MIND: 10 law runes, 100 mind runes, 100 air runes

EARTH: 10 law runes, 100 earth runes, 100 air runes

WATER: 10 law runes, 100 water runes, 100 air runes

FIRE: 10 law runes, 100 fire runes, 100 air runes

    BODY: 10 law runes, 100 body/earth/water/air runes

NATURE: 10 law runes, 100 nature runes, 100 air runes

CHAOS: 10 law runes, 100 chaos, 100 air runes

I don't think it would become too easy, as Elphinstone said. If you need 100 ore to create the rock, you need to spend a fair bit of time getting 100 rune ore. You would need the normal smithing lvl for the ores, just like any other furnace. (or maybe a special furnace that lets you smelt ore 5 lvls earlier?)

As for RC, I'm not sure if it would work, and how many would use it. The abyss is quicker for crafting than this as you craft, glory to edge and repeat. More opinions needed here.

I'll start writing up ideas for a crafting room soon.

The Crafting Room is basically the Workshop. And since the Workshop takes a completely new approach to Crafting, I think if Skill Rooms, if any, are added, they should be original and not based on existing game mechanics.

And also, they would need to up the room limit before they do this.

Alright. Thing is.. construction is 100 percent a money drain skill, and I've noticed Jagex has been doing nothing but money drain updates lately. They don't want these things (rune ores, runes, etc) coming into game any faster than what the fastest rates are now. The game is actually getting a bit better economically (if you describe better as proficiency and elegancy :P)

For crafting maybe a area outside where you can by a load of cows? then have a line inside for tanning them? You buy the cows from a npc stood outside the cow pens in lumby?

Maybe just like the crafting guild? Clay rocks, and jug of water and a pot spinner thing?

Just a few suggestions...

rune in your own poh? no way...

1000 rune ores = 10 rune rocks / 20 min x 3 = hour = 30 ores

1000 : hour = 33,3 hour

got your money back in 33,3 hours... and it will give you 12mil / 33,3 hour after you had your first 33,3 hour of mining...

and you can mine 20 of your coal rocks for 2k coal when you are waiting for the rune to respawn...

and bots could add 2 copper rocks, and power mine till 99 without anyone seeing him! :XD: same with magic trees... And sharks...

Sorry but the only thing I agree with here is the furnace and anvil, maybe farming as well but the rest just isn't logically. Think about it, how would you "build" a minable rock, its a naturally formation. Also I'd go for the fish pond idea but only if its for the little fish you can keep as pets.

As for crafting how about Spinning wheels, Pottery wheel and oven, tanning line, loom and sand pit.

a good idea...but autoer heaven....u could just world hop ur rune rocks for INSANE cash

skill rooms = 250k + 10 con

i would suggest for mining room:

10k for copper and tin rocks + 100 copper or tin + clay + 10 con

50k for iron + 100 iron + clay + 15 con

100k for coal + 100 coal + clay + 30 con

250k for mithril + 100 mith ore + clay + 55 con

1000k for addy + 100 addy ore + clay + 70 con

10M for rune + 100 rune ore + clay + 85 con

then special furnaces at certain lvls

reg furnace at 25 con = +1 extra coal per smelt

spec furnace at 50 con = regular smelt rates

gilded furnace at 75 con = -1 coal per smelt

heres my suggestion for crafting room:

fletching room crafting room = field/ patio sort of thing

flax = 25k + 35 con + 35 farming + 35 fletching

spinning wheel = 2 oak logs + 30k + 10 wool + 40 con

pottery oven = 100 clay + 120k + 45 con

moulds are in case in workshop

clay = 10k + 100 clay + 10 con

silver rocks = 100k + 100 silver ore + 20 con

gold rocks = 200k + 100 gold ore + 40 con

also a suggestion for fishing room

there is only a LIMITED amount of fish you can fish because it takes time for fish to reproduce. The new fishing shop where u can buy live fish would be in catherby. You buy certain amounts of fish and they repoduce at certain rates. Like from shrimp rate doubling per day going down to around 10% increase in sharks per day

example:

buy 100 sharks for 1 million u'd have 110 next day, 121 the next etc

or 100 shrimps for 1k :D and u'd have 200 next day, 400 the next

course u have to fish them all back up ^^

nice suggestion...im just here to give u suggestions and improvments
