Do you believe rich kids live a better life? Or have it easier, not only as a child and teen, but as an adult?

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Think about it, the pro's of being rich, espeically as a kid, are immense.

 

 

 

-College can be fully payed for, no bothering with scholarhips

 

 

 

-Can travel abroad at a young age without much strain

 

 

 

-Can basically buy yourself popularity in high school, which leads to the possabilty of being class president and other things, which is great for your resume.

 

 

 

-You can afford a car at age 16, a nice one at that.

 

 

 

-You don't have to be stressed with college payments in life, and during highschool years.

 

 

 

-You don't have to work everyday to afford a car, which can allow you to focus on school.

 

 

 

-You can travel and fill your mind with vast education, and many many great memories.

 

 

 

-You can donate lots of money to the poor.

 

 

 

-Usually your parents know people, which can lead to possable very large future career oputunities.

 

 

 

-You can be supported through a trust fund after college, so you can start your life off well, without having to worry about payments, taxes, bills etc.

 

 

 

-They have this all easy, while others have to work very hard for it.

 

 

 

-You can basically buy anything you want.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Now, do you think rich kids live a better life? And have better oppurtunites in life?

Well if you view a high standard of living as good, then yes.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

But life isn't exactly just this and that, so whether or not they live a better life is debatable. :-k

Obviously they have it easier. Make the most out of what you have, the product of hard work is always better than the product of pampering.

By the way, money doesn't buy ****ing popularity, it's having a good personality. I was student body president for that, and I didn't even waste a cent for campaigning. I think you should rethink your stereotypes.

If I could choose how I was born, I'd definitely NOT take the rich way of life. I was born into a sub-middle class family, we weren't poor but definitely not well off. Trust me, it will build your character like nothing else. Finally after I realized at age 10 or so that I can't probably have anything cool I wished for, I started saving money.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Now I probably make more money than most upper-middle class people, because I'm quite well off with daytrading in stocks. But I still never would think about spending my money on stupid stuff again, at least until I built my fortune up in the millions.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Also, this way I also appreciate those with less, more. I like the reaction on the street when a 'ragged guy' has a conversation with me, if I'm waiting for a train for example, and at the end I give him a $50 bill if I think he's just another good but misfortunate guy and not an alcoholised bum. It's just very important for me to help people who never had the chance to even live 'normally'.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Working for your own fortune also builds your morale and judgement, at least for me. I can just look at my childhood when I was just another kid, and then look at where I'm now, and be very, very thankful. I'd never (and will never) treat a poor person inequally just because of his clothing or his fortune, I'll listen to everybody's opinions.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Sadly, some of my friends with more money that grew up in rich families, have lots of prejudice against people who are 'average' or in their books, "worse". I can be their friends to some extent, but I can never truly change their attitude because they can't experience what I did. They'll never know the joy I had when I got just a simple snowglobe for a christmas present and knew it's better than nothing because my parents were still awesome to get me 'something' they could afford.

Trust me, it depends on the people you hang with. I was born into a very high family, but went to a public school.

If you know how to use your money and socialize, your life will be great if you're rich! The only down side of it is you usually don't see your family a lot. But I'm sure there's a solution somewhere.

It really depends... I'm very glad I live in rural Kansas in a not poor, but also not exactly rolling in money family. I've learned to be frugal and I've built character as BlueLancer said.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Sure if I was to turn rich I would have a different attitude about it than if I had rich parents early on and I was born into that kind of life. However, if rich kids know how to use what they have then they have a definite advantage. I have a friend thta is fairly smart like me and likes computers and his family is pretty rich compared to mine and he gets a new computer every 2-3 years because he thinks it's a necessity of life. :P I've had this current computer for going on 6 years now and it fulfills all of my needs and more and I've definitely learned to live within my boundaries (ie no FEAR or Oblivion) and I feel that it's a more fulfilling experience :)

The things you complain about don't have anything to do with money. The point of this thread is that you would be much worse off if your parents did not have their doctors' income.

Yea it can, but the point is that even if you dont have those material things you can live just as good of a life.

They have an easier life, but easier doesn't always equate to better.

I doubt they have a better life. There are tons of kids at my school who may not be rich, but have alot more money then normal people (they go buy cloths every week and waht not) and they are usually the ones involved in drugs or fights all the time, and generaly dont seem that happy.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I know that i have more money then almost all of my friends, but i rarly ever use it, i dont need it except in certain situations. I can get by on myself.

I was born into a well to do family as my parents explained to me at an early age. I realized that I may have more then some people but that I should know that it doesn't make me any more important then anyone else. I don't go around putting other people down because of their status of wealth, half the time they have nothing to do with it. Do kids choose how much money their parents make?

What I don't like is some of the stereotypes I used to get about having the sum of money I have. People think I may act better/ snobby and that I have everything handed to me on a crystal platter.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

My parents told me to get a job when I was 16 and that if I wanted anything that I should work for it myself. They're not penny pinchers, they taught me some important things about growing up.

From a purely economic perspective, yes, being rich does lend itself to a better quality of life. However, in welfare states like some EU countries, you don't necessarily have to be wealthy to have access to a better standard of living than in other places in the world. It comes down to perspective, but on the whole, more wealth does equate to an easier, and thus economically better life.

AN easyer life (in the begining) almost allways. But in the long run...very rarly. Think about it. If you always get what you want and you never have to work for anything. What happens when your on your own. You arent going to have much inititive (in-ish-it-ive), and your parent (and there money) arent going to be there forever. My brothe knows the CEO of _______(im not going into any named personal details), that man slept at his desk for a week or more to get where he is. As a result he is not a large part of his sons life. So the rich kid grew up without a father and is non the beter for it. Only the ones who have to work, who dont always get what they want are truly better off, because they can afford a higher education. SO no; rich kids are not usualy better off in the LONG RUN.

Yea those shows about someone who throws a giant party for their 16th birthday and their parents spends like thousands of dollars on it. Then they complain about a bunch of little things and think they are the greatest thing in the world.
