Is 'K' a proper unit for thousand? I always thought it referred to gold, which isn't measure the same as money isn't it?

Yes, a K means 1 thousand...

$50,000.... =P~

I'd buy a good digital camera and an ipod for sure, and probably blow a bunch of money on clothes and stuff. Then I'd put the rest away to help pay for college and the trip to Europe me and friend are planning after high school.

A new computer and maybe a new amp - rest goes into my bank account.

Now if I was really stupid, I'd spend it on a GIBSON SIGNATURE Zakk Wylde Camo Les Paul.

... or Skittles.

Hmmm Skittles seems like a wise investment to me! Yum! And that guitar is sexy.

Though, I would consider spending that money on a present for my life partner. :o

Skittles would hurt my mouth after awhile...

If I had that much money I could possibly set aside half for university and the other half for computer stuff.

What a interesting question. In reality, I would probably save it. But for the purpose of this thread, I am not going to say that and spend it on stuff which I have thought about buying or what I might want.

Firstly a digital Camera. A Canon 30D, with a range of L glass would be nice. Probably would cost around $5500 for quite a nice kit. Also a fuji F30.

Now, onto fishing gear. I would buy myself a nice quality light tackle rod, maybe a olympic vigore Spinning, with a Shimano Stella 2500 reel. Probably would cost around the $1200 mark. Also several other bits and pieces of tackle, make that $6000

I could also spend a couple of grand on spearfishing equipment.

I would also buy a Kayak, that would be around $1000. Also a decent boat, that would be around $10,000.

My Toyota hilux really needs new tyres, a lift, new springs, a snorkel, a bull bar and winch. Maybe even get a SAS done. All up would cost around $5000.

I could also purchase a comprehensives range of tramping and hiking equipment, Tents cookers, jackets ect.... $2000 so be enough.

Now. That is only $34,000 spent.

I am finding it hard to think of things to waste/spend money on.

A new computer would be nice, $2000

Heaps of expensive and fairly pointless fashion label clothing $2000

I would spend the rest which would be $12000 on a old Porsche.

So thats my $50,000 spent :)

Somebody mentioned putting it in a high interest bank account and living off it. As said, that's impossible, invest it properly if you wouldn't spend it.

You may not use my master plan below without agreeing to give me at least 10% of the proceedings.

I'd convert it to pennies so that I have huge golden (brass) treasure chests full of coins with pirate signs on the sides, and bribe kids into giving me their parents car keys they find in their home in exchange for 'a chest full of money' which is in fact only a few thousand bucks.

Then I'd sell the cars and repeat the above, hopefully never getting caught, write philosophical folk songs about my pursuit for wealth and become a billionaire beloved by the people.

College, Buy Adobe CS and Adobe Web Suite (Dreamweaver/Flash/Fireworks..formerly Macromedia)

Aaaaah someone quoted me :uhh:

I would buy a nice mp3 player, and save the rest for later.

20a7yhg.jpg

At least, I think that.

$50,000 doesn't go far. I'd probably save it for a deposit for a house. I would like a second monitor for my PC though.

For it is the greyness of dusk that reigns.

The time when the living and the dead exist as one.

50 thousand...

I'd buy a computer and save it but for the purpose of this thread...

I'd buy a $1000-$2000 comp, maybe a plasma or LCD t.v $(dunno price but I think it's like $6000 or something), GBA, Nintendo gamecube, and a bunch of other games to go with it, $1000.

Dangit, can't think of anything else that's between $2000 and $10000. All I can think of is college, car, splurging on low cost items, etc.

$50,000 doesn't go far.

Quite true. $50,000 sounds like a lot and you might be able to get a decent amount of stuff for it, but when you think about the bigger things (cars, houses, uni, etc) it really doesn't get you much. Yes, you could buy a nice car and have a down payment for a house with it but that's about it.

@riku: You may want to choose a wiser investment. To be honest, I feel buying the newer gaming systems is a waste of money (though I suppose I am seeing money in new ways). With the $1500 (dunno exact prices of systems) you'd spend, I'd rather invest or save to help pay bills.

hey im 12 what do you expect me to buy?

and why would i save $50,000 for 6 years to pay bills?

lighviolet1lk4.jpg

With 50,000 Pounds, which is about $100,000, no? I'd set some up in a college account, soup myself up with an enormous Ipod, donate like $10,000 to charity, and probably put some in the bank. I'd leave around 1,000 for the Wii when it comes out.

No, $50.000 is around ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã27.000.

Actually if you would have cared to read his question correctly you would have realized that he was almost right :)

Chances are, in 6 years, you still won't be too worried about paying bills. You're parents will probably help you out through college. But say you invest that money when you're 12, and by the time you finish college (10 years later?) you might have earned a lot of money. In a few years you'll start worrying about a car, gas prices, etc and you'll be wishing you'd saved your money and had it for something you now need that costs a lot more. I wish I would have saved my money over the years, rather than spending it on junk I don't use anymore. You're still young, but one day you'll relise that those system are only good until the next one comes out and if you're like me, you'll get tired of trying to stay up to date on all the newest games and systems.

I agree, better to pay bills then to buy a game system and tons of games that will eventually be dumped anyways, when you get bored.

Bah, 50k ain't enough to do much these days. I'd probably buy a car since mine got smashed into last month and then I'd use the rest for school.

If it were several million though, I'd put it in the bank and live off the interest.

The popularity of any given religion today depends on the victories of the wars they fought in the past.

- Me!

Yeah I'd pay off my student loan and so on, would be around ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã10,000 by the time I'm finished, and put a deposit down on a flat. Probably go on some shopping spree... spend the remaining money in Jane Norman and Footlocker, woohoo! Gotta treat myself ya' know! Nah, in seriousness I'd probably just shove the rest into the bank. AFTER the shopping spree :D
